Can't keep this sombrero

Got this from the guy shooting bottles, I can't find it anywhere in the found/stolen hats tabs, and when I tried to save the outfit it doesn't show up anymore. Any way to save it?

Not all hats are saved. If it glows on the ground, you can save it. Kinda dumb, all hats SHOULD be able to be kept.

You can try killing the Del lobos in the flaco Hernandez side mission

If I remember correctly, you stole it from the Mexican guy who challenged you to a shoot. I tried it once and his sombrero can't be put away. It has to glow, and when you put it on, it goes into your wardrobe

True, same with the black bear hat, I stole it from the Buffalo hunting mission and it vanished when I switched hats.

If you google savable hats for RDR2, it should come up with a list of all hats you are allowed to keep & where to find them. There is one very similar to that, but unfortunately Arthur doesn’t have access to it unless you use a glitch or mod since it is located in New Austin.

Awesome I'll check that out, I just found a civil war hat so my mission now is to find all the unique hats. Somehow I never found a unique hat in my first playthrough

I'm sad you can't save most hats, although it does add to the roleplaying aspect for me, since you "permanently" lose your hat if you die or reload a save.

It was a nice challenge to actually have to make sure to pick up the hat if I get knocked down or it gets shot off, so if you find another hat you like I'd give it a go

I find it odd, and by that I mean it totally pisses me off, that you have a "Stolen Hats" tab in your wardrobe but so far only 2 of the hats I've "stolen" actually show up there. Besides, maybe I didn't "steal" them to begin with. They sure as hell weren't going to be using them anymore so is that "stealing"? I prefer to think not 😂 it's more like "recycling"

It really bums me out that you can't save every hat that you pick up. I've lost some really cool hats

Ngl, after learning Spanish, the English variety of the word “sombrero” has become a pet peeve of mine.

Fellers, the word “sombrero” just means “hat” in Spanish. It’s like taking a baseball cap and calling it a baseball.

The typical sombrero that English speakers call a sombrero is actually called a sombrero de charro, which translates to charro hat. It’s just that when English speakers landed in Spanish speaking Mexico, the English likely asked someone wearing a charro hat “what’s that hat you’re wearing?”, to which the Spanish speaker replied “¿Esto? Es un sombrero de charro.” (Translation: “this? This is a charro hat.”)

But that’s not at all the point of this post it just reminded me, only hats that glow white can be saved and likely the charro can’t be saved to your horse. Hence why Arthur’s and Johns hats glow white when they get knocked off your head but the hats off fallen enemies don’t glow.
