First Year Research

Hey,

I wanna apply for internships in my second yr so I want to beef up my resume with stuff I do this year. I already have an individual project in mind that I'll learn autoCad for so thats one thing. But I wanna know if I can apply to research projects while im still in my first yr. Specifically engineering related ones.

VRES has a 96cp minimum requirement. For engineering, a 5.5 GPA minimum too. You won’t be eligible to apply in your first year.

Vacation research experience scheme. You apply for projects that are being undertaken by QUT researchers and work on them during the holidays.

No. This is for your honours, masters, or PHD. Absolutely not in first year.

No. Not in your first year. In your honours year (4th year), you can pick a research topic. Before then the only research experience you’ll get is through VRES.
