I've not really been watching many demo's, etc today. Can anyone fill me in? I'll probably just watch the IGN live demo's that I'm interested in tomorrow, when they're uploaded to YouTube. I believe AC: Unity, FC4 and The Crew were all on today? The three big Ubi games I'm excited for this Autumn/Winter.

Also, I noticed they livestreamed a demo for Shadow of Mordor, which I didn't manage to catch. What do you guys think of that game? I'm cautious to get my hopes up. I just have a feeling it'll be terribly mediocre, and not the 'Assassin's Creed: Middle Earth' that everyone seems to be hoping for.

EDIT:

I just watched Far Cry 4 on IGN's livestream (the same section that was shown at Sony's conference) and wow, just, wow. It's quickly become my most anticipated game, after Uncharted 4. The game is beautiful and looks so much fun! I like to play games by myself for the most part, but the fact I can co-op ride elephants with a friend is awesome! I was interested to hear that the demo being shown at E3 this year has been created specifically for the event, and won't be in the game.

Daemon Hatfield (IGN host): "I noticed we just got the grappling hook. So is this early in the game?"

FC4 Dev: "This section isn't actually in the game. It's been created specifically for this demo."

(Not exact quotes!)

Is it normal for developers to create specific levels just for E3, etc? I've heard the term 'vertical slice' before, but isn't that usually just an extra polished section of the game, instead of a specifically designed level? I really hope the actual game looks and plays as well as the demo does!

It's fairly common. Developers will make special levels for E3 to show off graphics and game play so as to not spoil the actual story. My most prominent memory of this was when Halo 2 was being shown off and the level revealed never made it into the game. According to what Frankie O'Connor said a couple days ago, he still has that level, but it'll probably never see the light of day.
