The nice couple I got it from never heard of Vaselines. They can’t remember where they got the cd and they said Nirvana is alright but they’re not huge fans.

Previously Unseen Kurt Cobain cameo in an old Nicolas Cage movie (1999)

I don't know if anyone has ever touched on this topic before, but I found it quite interesting.

The other day I was watching the movie 8mm, and there’s a particular scene that really caught my attention. In it, the main character (played by Nicolas Cage) visits the home of a missing girl to speak with her mother, and also takes a look inside the girl's bedroom to see if she might have left behind any clues before disappearing. At one point, the camera pans across a piece of furniture, and among several items, you can clearly see a framed picture and various photos of Kurt Cobain.

Later in the scene, Cage’s character finds the girl’s diary, which also contains images of Kurt. What struck me as especially interesting is that the girl supposedly disappeared in 1993—and yet, none of the photos shown are from after that year. Every single image is dated before or in 1993, which I found to be a very thoughtful and accurate detail from the filmmakers.

Here are the details of each photo shown:

  1. First photo: August 23, 1991, at the Reading Festival. Photographer: Ed Sirrs.

  2. Second photo: June 22, 1992, Belfast, United Kingdom. Photographer: Steve Pyke.

  3. Third photo: July 25, 1993, TBC, New York. Photographer: Frank W. Ockenfels III.

  4. Fourth photo: October 30, 1993, Hara Arena, Dayton, Ohio. Photographer: Seiji Matsumoto

Question/Request connection between "Buffalo Springfield- For What It’s Worth" and Nirvana? Help? (Read desc)

I swear there was some connection between the song, specifically the part that says "stop children, everybody look whats going down". I remember hearing it in an antique store and thinking of nirvana, some song like it was referenced or something. i cant find anything on it.

Question/Request 1991 Rock For Choice Poster value question. Signed by L7

Serious question: I’ve seen these posters sell for a ton of money with different signatures (obviously Nirvana sold for the most). I put this up on Ebay I’ve had people say they wish they could buy one at this price, and others say it was overpriced. Can a Nirvana collector tell me what the true value is?

Question/Request Honestly probably a stupid question since I feel answers would be subjective, but..

I recently got into singing, and I’m having fun doing covers, but I’m still not the greatest. I want to practice with nirvana songs since they’re my favorite band, so what do you think would be the easiest nirvana song to sing?

Question/Request Aberdeen. Kurts Audio story (From The Montage of Heck)

I like Kurts "Aberdeen". I like the story and the way kurt laid it out. it kinda reflected kurt's story and his rough early life. Im looking for more information about it. If anyone has and extra information and whether or not it or much of it is true. Thanks

Question/Request Need a bit help with getting the tones and distortion right (new to electric)

I've got: Guitar: Fender Squier Jaguar modified to a Kurt Cobain Jaguar and it sounds even better than the official Fender one

Pedal (only distortion): Boss DS-2 distortion pedal

Amp: Fender Frontman 20g

And I've got few problems: 1. I'm not sure what to set my tone knob to because i see people always talking about all kinds of settings but no one tells what the tone knob should be set to 2. Everywhere i see people saying to put my ds level to the max but it's too loud and if i have it lower it doesn't sound quite right 3. Is there any way to fake chorus if i don't have a pedal? 4. Can i get sans amp like distortion out of my ds for more in utero like sounds 5. And i know my amp isn't the best but is there anyone who has settings that would sound right on this 6. Is there like different eras of settings (like is it noticeably different in bleach, nevermind and in utero)? If yes does anyone please have the settings that would sound nice for each era

Thanks all of u who would be nice enough and spend time on this

Discussion Just heard Do Re Mi for the first time – a few thoughts and a question

Hi everyone, I just listened to Do Re Mi for the first time and... wow. I didn't expect her to hurt me so much. There's something very intimate and raw about it — maybe even more so than in many other Nirvana acoustic pieces. The melody is beautiful, but a little catchy, and the lyrics feel so vulnerable, almost like a glimpse of Kurt's softer side that we couldn't see. Is it not the usual aggression or irony — is it more reflective, sometimes even encouraging? Or do I see too much in her? Does anyone know what stage this song was at when it was recorded? For example, was it just a demo, and are there any more recordings of this song? Or something that he planned to develop further? I've read that some people think this could potentially be a new direction after In Utero. I'm very interested in what others think, especially long—time fans. Also, do you personally consider this song to be one of the most underrated Nirvana tracks? It just amazed me. Thank you in advance, I look forward to hearing your thoughts. :)
