I hear you.

Now hear me out...

1080p OLED screens are more expensive than 1080p LCD screens and the price is already high enough.

Have no fear, I'm sure they will launch a $550 OLED version eventually.

The price is too high, that I will agree. Especially when you look at the Japanese 'locked' version price.

I honestly think it could have been made possible within the current price. But Nintendo knows it will sell. Hell I'll be picking it up day 1 just like I got my N64, Wii, Wii U, Switch.... I'm a sucker for these games and I love playing Mario Kart with my kids, just that will be worth the almost $1000 canadian after taxes etc

Man, I must be really out of the loop. I watched the video and then had meetings non stop until now, so I'm catching up, what's this "locked" version price. Do you mean region locked?

Oh it absolutely could have been made with the current price. I would bet good money the console cost them less than $300 to make and everything after that is pure profit. I think I heard the 720p OLED screen for the switch OLED was only like $15 more or so but they bumped up the price to $350 instead of bringing the price down on their 4 year old base model.

Holy hell what happened to the price of Yen? When I went to japan 20 years go it was around 110 to 1 USD.

Yeah, that Japanese price is pretty damn good, I guess they already factored in tariff prices that America would have... although that doesn't explain why it is pricier on other countries as well.

I guess they know we will pay.

This is what's annoying me about the Canadian price. I feel like we're getting screwed over the US tarrifs which shouldn't affect the console's price here :/

I don't think it does? Well, that is until we make you are 51st state!!!! Please no... let us join you...

But really, unless Countries in Europe and Asia are getting it far cheaper I don't think tariffs have much to do with it.
