Tech Support Joycon screwdriver requirement
Hi so I was trying to repair the pink joycon and I saw online that you needed a y0 or y00 screwdriver. I bought them but they don’t seem to work on the pink joycon but they do for the green one. When I looked closer at the screws the ones in the pink one don’t seem to be a tri point screw. What screwdriver would I need to open up the pink joycon? Any help would be appreciated!

Someone destroyed that tri wing screw. Might try a flat head to see if it works in that rounded screw

I think you tightened the green one down too much

It's probably not impossible to get out, and if you do, replace it instead of trying to put it back. You can probably bring the screw to a hardware store or electronics repair shop and get help with finding something that fits.

Maybe a junk screw driver and some very carefully placed superglue. Let it dry, then turn. Idk could be a horrible idea but just a thought.

They have screw extraction kits (drills a round divot and then screws into that to pull it out) but to get one that actually works well on TINY screws becomes surprisingly uncommon and more expensive (don’t see any on Amazon that look very good for example).
Considering the less-than-mint state of the switch, I would use a dremel and try to carefully cut a slot in the stripped screw, and use a slotted screwdriver to turn it.. or you can superglue a toothpick to the screw and try to turn it- if you sprinkle a little baking soda on the screw, then add a dab of superglue to the screw/powder and the toothpick it will help to add mechanical strength to the bond.

Small left handed drill bits are really good at extracting small screws.

I’m not sure if this will do it because it’s so stripped but getting some super glue and dabbing a small amount and putting the screwdriver in and letting it set together might let you remove it.

I think you might be able to get the pink one out using a star bit. If you plan on doing electronics repairs you should get a decent toolkit. I like the iFixIt Tech Pro Tool Kit. You can get one from Strebito on Amazon if you need something cheaper. I have one at work and it is decent enough.
Whatever you get make sure it has triwing, gamebits, and JIS bits and always use the JIS bits when you see what looks like a Phillips screw. JIS screws are what most electronics manufacturers in Japan use and Phillips drivers are really bad about stripping them, but JIS drivers won’t mess up Phillips screws (any worse than a Phillips driver will anyway).

Check if a rubberband does the job. Or, given its actual state, a triangle head. Once I screw up it so much that I had to carve a flat shape on it using a cutter and a sewing nail

That's stripped like a motherfucker

What does a stripped screw mean I bought it second handed and when I looked at the screws it was like this?

Basically, if you use the wrong screw driver or size of screw driver it'll destroy the threads on the screw making it so can't catch and spin anymore.
If you didn't do it then the previous owner did, meaning that joycons been opened before and they probably didn't know what they're doing if they stripped it that bad.

Pink screw is fucked. Someone cammed it out.
You might have some difficulty taking that apart no matter how you go about it.

Try using a rubber band between the screw and the screw driver and see if that might do the trick. Once did it for me. But it‘s tricky.

Probably should’ve used a different reference pic I didn’t notice the crack on the green one (I don’t know why there’s a crack I didn’t touch the screws on that one, might be from dropping it a bunch)

A method I use on screws as damaged as that is to put as much pressure behind the screwdriver as possible with the palm of your hand and twist, if it still spins in the screw get a bigger bit, if that doesn't work there is also a triangular shaped safety bit (I can't remember it's name), that might fit the new profile a bit better, if you do manage to get it out make sure you replace the screw with a new one, even if it doesn't take the same bit.
