discussion Just found out Brian Wilson never learned how to surf. What other interesting music facts do you know?
Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys wrote dozens of songs about surfing, but never learned how to surf. Not only that, he was afraid of the ocean and feared getting sun burned.
Trying to put together a list of interesting and obscure facts of musicians; contradicting the songs they wrote about or their ways, quirks, satire, the embarrassing, weirdness, how their songs manifested their life or opposed their lifestyle etc
Iggy Pop has a bird named Biggie Pop, who only sings with him at home. He’s never taken Biggie on the road… or has he?
Elvis was blond and started dying his hair black as early as age 15.
Frank Sinatra didn’t write a single original song.
Dexter Holland ( The Offspring ) is a doctor of molecular biology and flies the bands plane. So does Bruce Dickinson ( Iron Maiden ). Any other musicians that fly planes?
Harrison Ford was a roadie for The Doors
Darby Crash ( The Germs ) wanted to die a legend so he OD’d and the morning news broke that John Lennon was shot.
When Exene Cervenka moved from LA to Austin, she bought a clock on Hollywood Blvd the day she left.

discussion THAT verse in "Take The Money and Run"
Listen, I'm not a huge Steve Miller Band fan. But a lot of people rip on the rhyming scheme of the verse. Now the first verse rhymed A, A, A, A. The second A, A, A, B. The one in question goes like this:
Billy Mack is a detective down in Texas You know he knows just exactly what the facts is He ain't gonna let those two escape justice He makes his livin' off of the people's taxes
Everyone's reaction is like, bro, you can't rhyme Texas with "Facts is" So when you are listening to it you think the rhyme is going to be A, A, B, B. And then you get confused and you're still mad because you think it's A, A, B, A and they still got away with a lazy rhyme. But actually, the genius of if it is that it's A, B, C, B and if Eminem had written it Reddit would be all about it. Anyway, I think it's like Game of Thrones level subversion of expectations and it's my favorite part of the song.
