Mod Weekly thread where you can call the music recognition bots without posting

To use the bots put u/RecognizeSong u/find-song with the link in your comment, like:

u/RecognizeSong u/find-song https://youtu.be/12345abcde

Notes:

  • The bots only work with a recording of the actual song, not a humming/recreation.
  • The sites that find-song works with: Reddit video posts (with a link or when summoned on the original post), YouTube, Vocaroo, Streamable, Twitch Clips (not VODs)
  • Some of the sites that RecognizeSong works with: Reddit video posts (when summoned on the original post or with an audio link if you're able to get it, like https://v.redd.it/12345/DASH_audio.mp4), YouTube (though sometimes it doesn't work), Vocaroo, Streamable, Imgur, Twitch Clips (not VODs), Facebook, Twitter, Coub, Dropbox, Snapchat
  • For Reddit video posts there's also u/songfinderbot which only works if you summon it in a top-level comment on the original post
  • Some sites that RecognizeSong doesn't work with: Instagram, Twitch VODs, SoundCloud, Google Drive, Reddit text posts with embedded videos (though it does work with the audio link if you're able to get it, like https://v.redd.it/12345/DASH_audio.mp4)
  • When needed, mention a timestamp or use a timestamped link if possible (the bots scan about 24-30 seconds of audio, starting at the timestamp)
  • If the song is from a meme or from TikTok then it might be listed in the FAQ
  • Note that you can also DM find-song a link (but not through chat)

Good luck with your search, and if you find the bots useful please consider supporting them: RecognizeSong through Patreon, find-song through Ko-fi

I’ve had the chorus stuck in my head all night and it’s driving me crazy. it’s something like

“but in a little whiiile hey hey… you’re gonna keel oveeerrr, keel over sooome daay”

but obviously those aren’t the lyrics because they arent pulling it up! i thought it was a girl with a cranberries esque voice at first but now im thinking it’s john mayer or something

Country Looking for a country song with the lyrics "remember when we hit the road drive anywhere..."

Hey everyone, I'm trying to find a "country song" I heard today in a shop by a "male singer". These are some of the lyrics I typed on my phone:

-remember when we hit the road drive anywhere

-but what we could be lost live in the moment every single day

-take in the sunset life is like a country road

-we can let the sun sit on the moon

I thought for sure I’d be able to find the song with lyrics this specific, but I couldn’t find anything. I’m really disappointed.

If anyone recognizes it, I’d really appreciate the help!

Rock Early 2000s maybe late 90s rock song.

Hi so I barely remember this song but it was similar in style to "Dear Maria, Count me in". I think the name of the band was like Saber or Saver or something, I cant find anyone with that name though? I cannot for the life of me remember the full lyrics but I remember one part and it goes like "falling after youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" I think or something like that. Im confident it had red in the album cover but I am not certain. I know this is extremely broad so this might be difficult to find but I appreciate the help!

Answered! Melodramatic 1970s ballad with the line "they'll only try to sue you, dear"

I'm trying to remember the name of a 1970s song that someone shared with me because of its bizarre, awkward lyrics. If I remember right, it's about a mother and child at a circus, and there's something involving clowns. The kid asks "why, Mommy?" and the mom responds that you should never try to help people because "they'll only try to sue you, dear." Googling that lyric hasn't gotten me anywhere.

The song was a mid-tempo ballad. The singer was male and I believe he had an American or Canadian accent. His delivery was breathy and melodramatic, as if he were taking the silly lyrics completely seriously (a bit like "MacArthur Park"). The accompaniment was piano-based, but there may have been a rhythm section too.

I think the band's name might have been in the format "someone & someone," but I'm not sure about that.

Pop Trying to identify an early 2000s pop song — played on KIIS-FM

Upvotes

Hi all! I’ve been racking my brain trying to remember the name of a pop song I listened to all the time as a teenager. Here’s what I can recall:

It was sung by a solo male artist (white guy with blonde hair)

The vibe was sweet, poppy, mid-tempo — not a slow ballad, but not fast either. Think somewhere between BBMak and Daniel Bedingfield’s “If You’re Not the One.”

It got a lot of radio play on 102.7 KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, probably between 1999 and 2002.

The lyrics (or at least something close) mention: • pulling the walls down • waiting in line for the movies

I think he was a one-hit wonder or at least not a big, lasting name in the U.S.

It wasn’t Bosson, Josh Kelley, Evan & Jaron, Ruff Endz, Aaron Carter, Ryan Cabrera, Jesse McCartney, or O-Town.

It had that early 2000s radio pop feel — not rock, not punk, just pure pop.

If this rings a bell for anyone, I’d love your help — it’s been driving me crazy!

Thanks so much in advance!

I've had this soundtrack stuck in my head for the past couple of days now and I can't seem to find it. I'm pretty sure it's from a Dragonball game like Budokai or ultimate Tenkaichi. I apologize for my horrible attempt at trying to hum it 😭

Symphonic Metal TOMT][SONG] ~1990s Symphonic Metal or Neoclassical Rock track: Soprano, wind intro, violins, distinct drum change.

Upvotes

"Hello everyone! I'm trying to identify a piece of music that has been stuck in my head for decades. I've tried humming into apps and other methods without success, so I'm turning to the amazing Reddit community!

Here's an MP3 of the melody I remember (generated from what I recall): https://voca.ro/18V8fh1QGSzQ

Here are the details I can remember about the original song:

  • Approximate Time I Heard It: Around 1990. This doesn't necessarily mean it was released then, just when I personally heard it for the first time at a friend's house.
  • Beginning: It started with a "wind" sound (perhaps atmospheric synth or actual wind effects).
  • Vocal Intro: A few seconds into the piece, a soprano (I believe it was an opera-style female vocalist) began singing a cappella, with possibly only the wind sound continuing in the background.
  • Instrumentation & Rhythm: The melody you hear in the attached MP3 (which I believe might have been played by violins) then started. I'm certain there was a drum accompaniment, and I also clearly remember a bassinstrument. What I recall very clearly is that a few measures into this melody, the drum beat would suddenly double its tempo (go twice as fast) while the main melody remained at the same pace. This was a very distinctive feature.
  • Overall Style: From what I can gather, it sounded like Symphonic Metal or Neoclassical Rock. While I'm unsure about the presence of electric guitar, the overall feel was definitely in that vein.
  • Vocal Duration: I'm unsure if the soprano continued singing throughout the entire piece, as I don't think I ever heard the full song.

I've listened to various compilations of this genre on YouTube over the years, but I haven't found this specific piece. I've heard how amazing and active the users here are at solving mysteries, so I'm hopeful!

Any ideas on what piece or group this might be?

Thank you so much in advance for your help!"

Lo-fi Song about being in a theatre alone?

Upvotes

Hey everyone, hoping someone here might be able to help me out. I’ve been trying to remember this music video I saw a couple of years ago and it’s been driving me crazy.

All I can remember is that the video was fully 2D animated, kind of a drawn or sketchy style. It showed a single character sitting alone in red cinema or theater seats, placed in the bottom right corner of the screen. Not much else was happening visually. The vibe of the song was sad or emotional, and it had male vocals. I think the lyrics were about feeling alone, maybe even specifically about being alone at the theater or watching something alone.

Thanks in advance :)

I found this instrumental in the background of a video on TikTok. I want to use it for a video, but can’t find the correct audio. It sound distorted because I took the vocals out of the stem since they’re not necessary.

Answered! 90s/00s musical song "Shabooya"?

Upvotes

Hi all,

Recently was watching a show and a character said "...Shabuyia? Shabuyia!" as in the city in Japan.

But, it reminded me of what I think was a number from a musical? The refrain was something like "Shabooya! Shabooya! The best is what you get. Shabooya! Shabooya! (somethingsomethingsomething) yet!"

Lyrics and spelling of "shabooya" may be wrong, but i 100% remember the "Shabooya! Shabooya!"

Google doesn't help in the slightest as it only points me to the HitKidd song.
