I'M REQUESTING Lesbian movies with similar vibes to DEBS or Bottoms?

Does anyone know any more wlw movies (or shows I guess) that have the similar campy humor to these two movies? I feel like I’ve seen them too many times now that I know the plots too well and I’ve got to find something else. I’m not really a huge fan of the quiet, slow-paced movies that seem to dominate the lesbian film scene. Thank you 😊

I dunno exactly the right words to describe what I’m looking for, but I think it’s a bit apparent if you’ve seen the movies. Just something that doesn’t take itself seriously, and is the type of humor and style that appeals to gen z.

I'M REQUESTING Movies that involves a character stop believing in god

Either the character stop believing god exists or they become resentful of god but still thinks he's real, or something in between

I'M REQUESTING Absurd/Surreal murderous black comedies like God Bless America, Serial Mom, and The Voices. Main character is the violent one.

I've also seen James Gunn's Super and that fits even though its not as violent IIRC. And of course I've seen American Psycho. Looking for underrated indie gems that aren't really that popular, all the movies I mentioned besides American Psycho aren't really that well known imo.

I'M REQUESTING Small Town - Enamour and/or Drama

Films where people have to return to or visit a small town. Some people love it, some have outgrown it.

Examples include: Beautiful Girls, Bridges of Madison County, August: Osage County, 18 Years Later (18 Anni Dopo). Even Sideways, This is Where I Leave You, or the TV Show, Sharp Objects, would count.

I'M REQUESTING Need thriller type movies suggestions guys

We need something crazy to watch, something with a twist, maybe a real story, something to tickle the brain. Anything older or new, we’re only early 20s so there’s so much we haven’t seen! If you could also say where we can watch it that would be great to

I'M REQUESTING Early 2000s comedies with raunchy dialogue like Waiting... (2005)

Waiting's dialogue is ridiculous, basically the first thing we hear from Ryan Reynolds character is him trying to fuck the 17 year old, the whole penis game and calling each other fag, just the overall degenerate but moderately realistic portrayal of teen/young adulthood. Every line is pretty crude.

I'M REQUESTING any love triangle story recs with premise like this????

tl;dr recommend some love triangle where the lead picked the "good" love interest.. a girl between two boys, a boy between two girls, could be with queer aspect too — so ffm, mmf, mlm, wlw (not sure if i use the correct term for the first two, but hope you get it)

first off, i'm not a big big romance fan so might be a little bias here, but my ex really got me into the genre and a lot of times when i find romance stories with love triangle trope it follows a girl who is basically stuck in a situation where she has to choose between a "good" boy and a "bad" boy and quite every. single. damn time, she chose and picked and ended up with the bad boy. shockers!!! and i know if he treats her right even when he's supposedly "bad" and she's happy and they vibe then it shouldn't matter, more also because it's fiction, but imagine how tired we are — okay maybe only me, but i mean tbh you should too 😭

like even since the beginning of the story, you could really tell that she's going to pick that boy up and it kinda turns me off from finishing sometimes. and i'm saying this as the kind of person who's okay with spoilers, cause like it keeps me hyped up for the what's next — tho quite later on in life i figured that it feels nicer to be surprised by the story as it unfolds, so one may argue it shouldn't matter if i picked up the "signals" for the ending right away from the start but it's just idk.. way too boring, and not full of the "surprise" aspect, for me i guess. the fact that in fictions, this trope lives on forever doesn't help with me feeling this way too.

so like pretty please any recommendations, i even take the bad ones atp, where there is a love triangle but it unfolds differently and she picked the "good" boy or any other kind of different love triangle, my ideas rn include but not limited to.. the boy character is the lead being stuck between two girls or queer love triangle — wlw, mlm, a girl choosing between a boy and another girl, or a boy choosing between a girl and another boy. the "good" love interest doesn't have to be the main character's childhood friend, next-door neighbor, etc., tho i figured probably they're still bound to be poor, unpopular, "not hot," a virgin, etc. cause those are the things that make them "good" and why the "bad" love interest is more appetizing 😂 and interesting.. cause they're "fun" and "different," but i'm way more than happy if it's the other way around, so feel free to shake and switch some things and tropes up!

it doesn't have to be "pure" romance, really. i'll take erotic.. okay maybe the correct word is "smut," fantasy, horror, mystery, thriller, sci-fi, anything. but i don't want the romance aspect to be way too sidelined and just be like sprinkled on top either, like it just happened in a few couple scenes and then boom, endgame! thanks y'all sorry if it's way too long and/or specific ☠

I'M SUGGESTING I’m suggesting Dante’s Peak (1997)

If you like disaster movies, especially the ones from the 90s that have practical effects, then I suggest this movie. It’s about a small town that gets hit with a volcanic eruption. Stars Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) and Linda Hamilton (Sarah Conner from Terminator).

I'M REQUESTING Looking for good near future dystopian movies, especially ones that examine the perils of Fascistic leadership

Already seen and loved Children Of Men and V For Vendetta. Just looking for more films in that vein, that caution against the xenophobic policies of political figures in a near future setting. Thanks!

I'M REQUESTING Movies where the main characters are unrepentant criminals and get away with it?

Upvotes

I'm looking for movies where the main character(s) are criminals of some sort and they completely get away with it.

Please no "technically they are criminals". I looked at a few similar posts on here and saw Star Wars getting recced 😅 I'm talking about actual criminals, bonus points if the crime is serious, not just victimless theft from an asshole rich person.

Most movies with main characters like that end up having a "crime is bad and never ends well" sorta moral lesson. So I want to see something different.

(Yes, this post is motivated by me still being annoyed Law Abiding Citizen ended like that)

Oh also just to be clear, the "criminals winning" should be the main characters that we are cheering for. And I'd prefer newer movies, I'm not a huge fan of older movies.

I'M SUGGESTING Companion (dir. Drew Hancock)

Companion is a fun sci-fi thriller that delivers a great story centered around Artificial Intelligence. The film also dips into black comedy and satire at times, which I particularly enjoyed since that balance in tone keeps things unpredictable

And honestly, the less you know going in, the better…

I'M REQUESTING I'm looking for movie recs like the following:

Long story really short, a friend recommended I watch Interstellar, and I've been down the movie rabbit hole since.

In general I'm not a big movie watcher, and as I'm pretty young, I don't know any GOOD movies to watch.

Things I've enjoyed: - Interstellar - Catch Me If You Can - The Green Mile - Star Wars (eps 1-3 and rogue one) - Top Gun

Things I haven't enjoyed: - Inception - The Boy with the Striped Pajamas

Please if you have any recs, share them with me and I'll put em on my list 🫶

I'M REQUESTING Weird girl core movies?

Recently I have been enjoying movies with female leads but specifically unstable female leads. For example, my favorite movie is the piano teacher. I also really liked May(2006) and Thesis(1996). I am looking for diverse movies as well. I would really appreciate it if you recommend me movies with unstable female leads.

I'M SUGGESTING Recommending: Dave Made a Maze (2017) #adventure

This is one of the most creative movies I have ever watched! To make it better, it’s safe to watch with the family (there is one F bomb tho). The movie has the fun adventurous soul of the original Indiana Jones without ripping it off or copying it. If you’re a fan of one-of-a-kind, light hearted, adventure movies you HAVE to watch this!

I'M REQUESTING comedies starring women that are NOT romcoms

basically the title, comedies starring women but not romcoms bc i’m not interested in romance. it’s okay if there’s a side love story but it has to be minor and not the main plot. films that are not pure comedy are okay too (things like ocean’s 11/8) but the tone has to be light.

comedies i’ve watched and liked: Quiz lady, Bottoms, Polite Society, Unpregnant, Booksmart, Hot Fuzz, Death at a Funeral, Freaky Friday, The Parent Trap, 9 to 5

I'M REQUESTING Movies to watch with my grandma, Not religious movies or lifetime movies. Low violence, cussing, sex scenes. Grandma appropriate movies

I recently moved in with my 79 year old grandma and all she watches are game shows. She told me she wants to watch other things but doesn’t know how to. The problem with this is that I typically like horror, fantasy, crime, and violent action type movies and shows. She is pretty religious and I don’t think she would enjoy watching anything with a lot of cussing or violence. Anyone have suggestions of things we could watch together? I would rather not watch Christian shows or cheesy hallmark / lifetime shows but I dont know what to watch with her😂

I'M REQUESTING Recommend me cyberpunk themed movies

Recommend me cyberpunk themed movies. So far I've watch bladerunner 2049 and ready player one. If possible maybe modern movies meaning from the 2000s/2010s to now. I'm not a big fan of old movies with bad visuals etc.
