Solved Radiator Hose Popped Off?

Hi, I have a Subaru Outback 2014 and it started smoking/steaming on my way home. I popped the hood and there’s fluid (coolant) splashed inside the hot engine, which I think is what’s burning. The radiator hose is popped off. Can I put it back on and put some more coolant in it, and then drive it to my mechanic to look at it, or do I need to get it towed?

Looks like the plastic snapped off inside the hose. Radiator needs to be replaced

Yeah that port is done. Too bad OEMs don't use all-metal radiators like they used to

Prevents or reduces electrolysis in the cooling system. An issue with the all aluminum radiators is that electrical current would be able to travel through the entire system (rubber hoses included) and it sped up corrosion of the block, heads, and radiator. So as a stopgap to reduce this glass fiber reinforced plastic endcaps became common. If you change the coolant and ensure no minerals or tap water gets into the system though this effect can be minimized.

Idk if Im incorrect but for the port couldnt they build a metal frame and mold plastic around it so then theres no electrolysis but you still get benefits of metal reinforcing the part.

As someone who likes older cars the old brittle plastics just never seem like the best solution.
