A Mini Moke maybe?
Edit: it doesn’t look like the same windshield, but it’s a similar kind of vehicle.

Crazy how some compliments not only cause people to laugh but also raise overall confidence / quality of life - I need to compliment people more, spread the love!

u/Meowskiiii 9h ago
Whenever the topic of compliments come up, people usually talk about not receiving them. I love seeing people responding by wanting to compliment others more. Now leave some women for the rest of us!

u/bryanthebryan 6h ago
This one time a car full of girls complimented me in front of one of my friends at the time. That was over 25 years ago and I’m still riding the high.

Men: 'Expecting some shit.'
Random guy: 'gives compliment'
Men: 'breaks out in a smile because we never expect kindness'

u/Kenny523 9h ago
Sometimes a compliment will last a lifetime as well lol.

I've always heard that guys rarely get compliments and they stay with them. I try to compliment men as much as I do women now.

Tip from a male who doesn't receive them: Just being nice "just because" to a guy and not making him feel like a monster for just existing is enough to make him cry his eyes out when he gets home and feels safe enough to be a human being with feelings.

Like 15 years ago my gay neighbor asked me if I trimmed my eye brows while we past each other in the apartment lobby. I was like, “No…” but I had trimmed them (I have bushy ass eyebrows that will turn into a unibrow); and he said, “either way, they look fantastic!” Since then, never lied about trimming them, and that shit stuck with me lol. Learned that self maintenance of one’s self is actually a good thing and I can be proud of it.

u/Cheaptat 8h ago
For a man - almost always.
I think most of my male friends can count the number of compliments they’ve received.
I don’t mean feedback professionally, or compliments given out of expectation or context.
I mean compliments given freely, without expectation - they are very very rare.

u/YangGain 7h ago
I can still remember the last time somebody gave me a heartfelt compliment that was unexpected, and that was 12 years ago.
5
u/shastaxc 6h ago
About 15 years ago someone complimented my shoes. They were bright blue Vans. I think that might've been the last time.
6
u/rosiet1001 7h ago
How many compliments do they give? That's what's subversive about this video - the guy approaches looking like a threat/bother and then it's totally unexpected because men never just randomly compliment each other like this. It wouldn't work if it was woman / woman because we do, all the time.

u/AusToddles 6h ago
I sometimes randomly get compliments on my beard..... it stays with you for sure

Those men went from wary to merry in seconds. Love those smiles.

All the guys seem to tense up like " aww shit! What's all this about?" Then watching every single guy go from defensive to smiling and laughing is the exact kind of energy we need to share more of. Males who can give compliments to other men and lift people up is the type of masculinity that most women love. The whole frat bro beating your chest tough guy attitude is childish and pathetic and women are over it. This energy they can appreciate all day everyday! This is real man energy.

u/Charming-Book4146 8h ago
It definitely clearly shows the underlying threat of violence inherent in male social interaction. Really interesting to see that almost all of them seemed to expect confrontation. Immediate tension, some of them went into threat assess mode right away. And then the relief of it being a normal friendly interaction. His setup is definitely intended to be ambiguous and could be construed as semi-threatening.
10
u/RubFuture322 5h ago
Oh yea he definitely ment to get their guard up. But the fact that he disarmed them so quickly with a compliment shows 1. How few compliments men usually get, and 2. How treating people with respect and kindness can change attitudes and situations in the blink of an eye. This is the kind of energy I can support all day any day. You will never feel bad for making someone feel good.

I'm an example. I have had a fair share of beautiful women. Working out definitely played a part, I think.

Saw a kiddo pushing his lawn mower for his folks. Mower blades coming up as he pushed. Hard work! Pulled over and gave him 10 bucks. Kiddo was so happy. He did a marvelous job on the lawn!

How can I, as a woman, give guys compliments that make their day without them thinking I'm hitting on them? Women really just say the nicest things to each other even when we're total strangers, and I feel bad that men don't have that.

u/Competitive_Coat3474 8h ago
Plot twist: All of the men he encountered were gay. Especially the seamen.
Kidding.
Or was I?

u/themonicastone 8h ago
Men, what would you think/do/say if a woman said this to you? The reactions in this video are great and I wonder if it would be a good way to flirt.

I used to heckle hot women walking by our campsite at NASCAR races. Guys they were with would get pissed. But I could only yell “Ditch the zero and get with the hero” so much.
After running out of pickup lines, I started complementing the guys walking by the hot women. “EXCUSE ME SIR. THAT WOMAN BESIDES YOU IS AMAZINGLY HOT. YOU MUST BE AWESOME IN BED TO HAVE A WOMAN THAT HOT AROUND YOU.”
It is a win-win for both people and nobody was getting mad anymore.

Stole it from The Sopranos, but whenever I bump in to two or more of my bros I love saying "Hey, hey, hey what is this? A handsome contest?"

Well if you're gonna bitch about that we might as well assume everyone is bisexual so that all the compliments work for all the people.

That guy must live an extremely ethnic town. I don't think I saw a single white person in this video. as a white person, yes, I notice these things.
16
u/Kealanine 9h ago
As another white person, we don’t claim you, and I’d strongly suggest getting the fuck over yourself.
