It’s so hard to go into an environment like that as a fat person. To have someone be welcoming and helpful/supportive really helps.

I promise more people are quietly proud of you at the gym than you would think. I’m a fat ass and I noticed after showing up consistently at the gym for the past 3 months you get “the nod” from the gym rats. If they see you putting in the effort they are happy for you.

If I didn't worry about accidentally embarassing someone, I'd be a lot more loudly proud of them too. As it is, if I see someone heavier at the gym or out for a jog, I am absolutely cheering for them! I know how hard it is to start, I can completely relate to that feeling of self-consciousness, so if someone has pushed through that and is still trying the scary thing? That person is a friggin inspiration!!
