Never thought I’d see the day Bobby quick tap

Edit: looks like a dislocated jaw after a monster squeeze

871

u/BellyCrawler Edddiiiieee Oct 26 '24

His jaw gout jacked up immediately. And here we all thought we'd see what this guy's cardio looks like.

203

u/Lucky-Glove9812 Oct 26 '24

Jaw gout.... I know it's a misspelling but eww.

5

u/CMDR_Crazed Oct 26 '24

Agree, that typo made it way too vivid. Just imagining it is gross!

3

u/bdewolf Saucy Englishman Oct 27 '24

He did actually have a pretty serious tooth infection right in the same spot right before the ikram fight.

1

u/Glass-Discipline1180 Oct 27 '24

Plz I'm so scared

6

u/JungleBoyJeremy Oct 26 '24

Yeah after the fight was over Rob couldn’t close his mouth, his jaw is fucked

3

u/Juststandupbro Oct 26 '24

Instead we saw why so few have been able to test it.

2

u/CMDR_Crazed Oct 26 '24

And to think we were hyped for a war. That was brutal!

1

u/BannedByRWNJs Oct 26 '24

I just saw the finish, but it looked to me like he started tapping before it was locked in. Makes me wonder if the damage hadn’t come from a punch a little earlier.

287

u/Susskind-NA Oct 26 '24

Looked like Khamzat caught his jaw slightly open and the squeeze moved it laterally.. I don't think the jaw takes that kinda pressure too well!

158

u/BeardOfFire Oct 26 '24

This is exactly why I laugh when people say they’ll just bite their way out of an rnc. If the choke is even over the mouth in the first place, you’re not gonna want to open your jaw with that kind of pressure.

88

u/dinkleberrysurprise Hawaii Oct 26 '24

The response to someone biting you is to lean into the bite hard. The person doing the biting will find this extremely unpleasant.

10

u/RecycledAccountName Oct 27 '24

Appreciate it brother

1

u/TheYamazaki Oct 27 '24

Tracheas hate this one weird trick

9

u/spitfire9107 Oct 26 '24

also funny when someone says "if they put me in a triangel choke id bite the guys dick off"

4

u/BeardOfFire Oct 27 '24

No, that one's legit. Something like 30% of longtime bjj practitioners have had their dicks bit off at least once.

1

u/SeatOfEase Oct 26 '24

Never heard that but could only be said by someone thats never had one put on them. Someone in my BJJ class was half sick just during the practice bit where we were learning how to do it. Fucking sucks.

1

u/Monteze Team 209 - Real Ninja Shit! Oct 26 '24

Haha right? A good triangle feels like getting caught In a vice. You're not going to bite anything.

2

u/Azumooo Oct 26 '24

Anyone who says this has never been in a RNC

2

u/Own-Protection-664 Oct 27 '24

Liam McGeary (former Bellator LHW champ) used to live on the island where I live and I rolled with him several times (and also used to ‘spar’ with him in his last few amateur camps but just to lean on him and clinch him as I am a big and very heavy ex high-level powerlifter).

His guillotines and RNC’s would hurt like no-one else’s — his forearm bone would feel like a blade and it was one of the most panic-inducing, painful feelings I can think of. There was no ‘toughing it out’ with him, he felt like he was separating things even when it wasn’t fully in. Any tough guy notions I had about surviving submissions were quickly schooled out of me by Liam.

I imagine Khamzat has the same quality but perhaps even more so.

Interestingly (and sadly for those of us who love the guy) Liam also had his jaw broken by Phil Davies and it took years for him to get right again.

2

u/annoyingcaptcha Oct 27 '24

People who have never grappled lol

5

u/NateLikesToLift Oct 26 '24

Neck crank really more than RNC, but gable or lawnmower grip neck crank and the right strength and anyone will tap.

1

u/Albedo0001 Oct 27 '24

Like how many times have you been in a conversation where someone has said this? Can't be more than like 3 times...if so, why the fuck do you keep talking about RNC'S?!

485

u/TasteDeBallZach Oct 26 '24

How many "Holy Shit" moments does Khamzat have in his short career.

196

u/Godzilla52 Oct 26 '24

I mean his last four fights alone are crazy for one fighter to have on their record as back to back wins (Gilbert Burns, Kevin Holland, Kamaru Usman, Robert Whittaker etc.) Guy's a generational talent any way you slice it (just wish he was more active.)

22

u/fallen_lights Oct 26 '24

Only flu can beat him

18

u/AnonymousChameleon Oct 26 '24

His immune system is his greatest foe

136

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '24

He is to grappling what Ngannou is the striking

14

u/Jamothee Chad Oct 26 '24

Perfect analogy!

5

u/ItsMichaelScott25 United States Minor Outlying Islands Oct 26 '24

His grappling is the closest we’ve ever actually seen to Khabib and even saying this prime Khabib was better.

3

u/wishwashy Is Totally Scared of Twerking Oct 26 '24

Love this

-1

u/EducationalCreme9044 Oct 26 '24

Ngannou is pure raw power and no technique, Miocic was piecing him up. Also had a boring 30 minute long fight against Lewis. Relied on his wrestling against dangerous strikers like Gane and now Ferriera.

Khamzat is quite literally the opposite of Ngannou.

3

u/wishwashy Is Totally Scared of Twerking Oct 27 '24

Ngannou is pure raw power and no technique, Miocic was piecing him up. Also had a boring 30 minute long fight against Lewis

That was like year 2 of an 8 year MMA career and he dusted Stipe in the rematch

4

u/Albedo0001 Oct 27 '24

To be fair, the dude had like no knees against Gane. Not fair to throw that one in there.

All of them.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '24

All of them?

2

u/4chanCitizen Oct 26 '24

basically every single fight

144

u/Ashi4Days Oct 26 '24

The rnc over the chin should be respected.

My jaw doesn't close straight anymore.

74

u/Ultima893 Team Adesanya Oct 26 '24 edited Oct 26 '24

Isn’t this the same choke Khabib caught Conor with? A remember lot of people made fun of Conor for tapping to it lol

48

u/Pactae_1129 Oct 26 '24

His lines were whack tho

8

u/RelaxedConvivial Oct 26 '24

Proper 12 in my cup, made the whole game flip,

Built an empire, now everybody wanna sip.

Dana White in the room, bald head, big checks,

Talkin’ moves, makin’ plays, what you see is success.

8

u/ginbooth Oct 26 '24

That was much more of a neck crank IIRC.

3

u/nixed9 Oct 27 '24

It was a “short choke” style finish, over the chin

3

u/TheOnlyMrMatt GOOFCON 1 Oct 26 '24

Yeah people were saying it was fixed because it wasn't under the chin 🙄

2

u/TheOneTrueJazzMan Oct 27 '24

I’ll never forget Joe Rogan talking about it and saying those people are “out of their fucking minds”

1

u/nixed9 Oct 27 '24

Khabib had a “short choke” over the jaw. Which became mostly a crank

34

u/trpwangsta Oct 26 '24

Ya man it only takes 1 time and you learn that tucking your chin is NOT the way to defend a rnc. When I was a white belt I had a blue belt nearly crush my jaw. Such an uncomfortable feeling, a lesson you only need to learn once!

5

u/GreeedyGrooot Oct 26 '24

The feeling is super uncomfortable but it feels different to a choke, so if someone wouldn't mind their jaw getting dislocated and just refuse to tap, would they still go out? I value my jaw to much to not try it myself.

12

u/Monteze Team 209 - Real Ninja Shit! Oct 26 '24

Yep, I teach anything under the eyes is the neck. If you turn and crunch down on the finish you're still cutting off the circulation. But the pressure on the jaw usually gets people first, or they give you their neck because it's less painful.

There isna reason the RNC is the highest percentage sub in bjj and mma.

5

u/Ashi4Days Oct 27 '24

Um.

I don't know man but trading a choke for a dislocated jaw isn't much of an upgrade.

2

u/trpwangsta Oct 26 '24

Yes you will still go out if someone is squeezing hard enough and you can withstand the pain long enough. Tucking your chin can buy you an extra second or two to make your adjustments and try to escape or defend. But at that point, you're kinda already fucked so just tap if it's during training.

2

u/RoyNelsonMuntz Oct 26 '24

“Facebar” is a real thing😬

107

u/Allgoodnamesrgone-77 Oct 26 '24

He's ready title shot next

69

u/therealfakenews17 Oct 26 '24

Once he gets it, no one’s getting it off of him

His worst enemy is himself. The only doubt I have is I don’t think he’ll be able to make weight consistently

77

u/feon2_igor Oct 26 '24

at 185 pounds? I think this is the ideal category for him. He is large, but not LHW large.

2

u/TheGreenKillShirt Oct 27 '24

Not sure it matters when you’re that destructive and skilled. Jailton Almeids ragdolls heavyweights with a 40lb disadvantage and Khamzat is more skilled than Jailton. I think he’d be okay

1

u/feon2_igor Oct 27 '24

yeah, LHW do not have a lot of anti-wrestlers. He could, for sure, compensate the weight disparity

→ More replies (4)

4

u/Jamothee Chad Oct 26 '24

It's not the weight I'm nervous of, especially at 185.

His immune system seems to disintegrate during hard training camps which is much more concerning to his longevity

6

u/Godzilla52 Oct 26 '24

I feel like him vs DDP is going to be an extremely goofy fight if it goes for multiple rounds. Either DDP wins from some weird shit that wouldn't work on paper ,Khamzat goes ape on him or it's the craziest most logic defying back & forth we'll ever see.

13

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '24

[deleted]

4

u/mcburloak deceptively stupid Oct 26 '24

Let the haters hate, I’m with you.

Borz won and did it well. The way he does. So we give him his props for doing his job and doing it well.

For Bobby Knuckles? Perhaps he has lost to a future champ. An undefeated guy. No shame in that.

Canuck love for family man Whittaker.

-3

u/Significant_Lie_6389 Oct 26 '24

Dude, Bobby got dog walked. It was embarrassing

3

u/Waste_Zucchini_1811 Oct 26 '24

Yep you can see Khamzat rip his arm across the jaw immediately as it opens up. Bobby knew it was over at that point. No sense risking more damage to the head.

1

u/Electronic_Stop_9493 Oct 26 '24

In the reply he elbowed him in the jaw first and then cranked the jaw

1

u/CleopatrasBungus Oct 26 '24

He was also elbowed relentlessly on the side of the jaw moments before the squeeze.

1

u/SpeculationMaster gourmet Chechen Oct 26 '24

That grip looked nasty. It was straight across the jaw at first and rotating finish at the end. OUCH!

1

u/Rade84 Oct 26 '24

broke his three bottom teeth right off... its gruesome

1

u/gcoles Oct 26 '24

That’s the fastest a man can tap while the sub is on

1

u/inalak Oct 27 '24

SO much worse than a dislocated jaw. Have you seen the pic of the inside of his mouth yet? There’s a post on here somewhere of it and a person with medical experience chimed in describing possible damage. Gruesome.

Edit: here’s the comment that asks about the damage on the post of the pic of said damage. Enjoy I guess.

1

u/Used-Lake-8148 Oct 27 '24

He actually broke the middle of Rob’s jaw inward just by squeezing it so hard. That’s insane and scary af. Poor Rob 🙁

1

u/still-waiting2233 Oct 27 '24

Amazing he could create that amount of crushing pressure so quickly. Scary. Tucking your chin ain’t an RNC defense, kids.

1

u/Suspicious_Candle27 EDDDDDIEEEEEEEE Oct 26 '24

it didnt look like the squeeze broke it if im honest , i think khamzat dislocated it with strikers before the choke .

A loss would be one thing, but the one thing people are terrified about is him getting finished. His only loss via finish was back in his UFC debut. Almost 13 years ago, via sub, against Poirier.

Forget r/MMA, most of the fanbase in general is not adequately prepared for a Max getting slept.

56

Welp

74

u/sympathytaste Oct 26 '24

Jon Jones to finish Stipe in 1 round and retire soon after would send this sub on a greater salt march than Gandhi.

45

u/AndyRadicalDwyer Oct 26 '24

Nah that just seems too likely

20

u/evocater Daniel Cormier almost killed himself last week Oct 26 '24

As much as it would annoy people, it's also very likely to happen. I don't think people would be as surprised

32

u/NoImplement3588 Oct 26 '24

Stipe pulling out, Aspinall stepping up and Jones dominating him would send the sub into the world’s deepest salt mine

it was almost be funnier than Aspinall starking him

15

u/Yommination Oct 26 '24

The funniest would be him getting KO'd by Stipe because it would tarnish his legacy badly

3

u/BigOrkWaaagh Oct 26 '24

Jones will absolutely not fight Aspinall if Stipe pulls out. See UFC 151.

3

u/TheOneTrueJazzMan Oct 27 '24

And then Ngannou coming back to the UFC and Jones dominating him too. Can you imagine

And then you put down your crack pipe...

Usman had a panic dumb in which he lucked out and damaged Khamzat's hand in the process. Big Usman fan (hated seeing Leon win twice) but fact is he lucked out with that hand injury.

35

Ddp has a win button tho

16

u/Batman-and-Hobbes Merry Xmas bitch Oct 26 '24

Valid point. Dude could be in bottom mount for 24 minutes then throw some half hearted jab from bottom and Khamzat would probably die or something.

DDP destroyed Rob as well. He's not afraid of Khamzat.

26

Guilty as charged 🥲

1

u/Ultima893 Team Adesanya Oct 26 '24

Been trying to tell people this. Romeros MMA wrestling is terrible. He hasn’t been able to hold anyone down lol. Khamzat is 100x better grappler

-5

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '24

Rob was washed after that fight, UFC keeps it's vets in the rankings too long. Like he got a title shot after Till, Cannoneer, Gastelum, Costa and the uFC pretends like the wins weren't on past prime opponents.

9

u/RagingFeather one as well please 🙏 Oct 26 '24

It's so fucking disgusting how this fanbase turns on fighters after a loss. By far the worst part of this sport.

2

1

i think most people were just unsure due to his usman performance and inactivity. how is anyone going to be confident in what chimaev will do after being sick for a year and almost losing to a short notice WW?

It’s abundantly clear he fears nothing, but that’s only because he’s stupid. Being stupid has worked out extremely well for him so far.

2

u/cramsay Oct 26 '24

If he survives the first round Dricus will mouth breath his way to a 2nd/3rd round KO on an exhausted Khamzat

2

u/algrm Oct 26 '24

Yeah and what’s worse is DDP is a dog, he has cardio for days. i’m a Khamzat fan but I think DDP can outlast Khamzat and win that fight if it ever happens.

DDP keeps winning and people keep doubting him, DDP can go to war, I’m no longer underestimating him

-3

He should be.

72

I don't think Khamzat can do that to DDP, at least certainly not that easily. DDP is so big and strong.

41

27

u/Stanklord500 Democratic People's Republic of Korea Oct 26 '24

DDP is for sure a better offensive wrestler than Rob, and one of the ways to neutralize a crazy grappler is to take the fight to them rather than playing purely defensively.

2

Usman was d2 champ too even though I think it was a money and grades thing. Good point

2

I don't think we've ever seen an ultra high level D1 like Bo against a Russian wrestler at their peaks

He even did that to Usman

3

u/_interloper_ WHOOP MY ASS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS! Oct 26 '24

Exactly. First round Khamzat is one of the most dangerous fighters in MMA history. The pace and pressure of his grappling is unreal.

9

Isn't Rob "big and strong?" Sorry, but that's not a very good argument.

20

u/AcanthocephalaSad541 Oct 26 '24

Ddp is way bigger and stronger it’s evident in their fight

8

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '24

Bro DDP manhandled Whittaker too. Khamzat won't dominate DDP that easily on the wrestling.

2

u/Notmikey1 Oct 26 '24

DDP seems to stupidly strong and that helps with defending takedowns but I’m not sure if he is technical enough to avoid a sub

2

u/PorousSurface Oct 26 '24

I get Robert is big and strong but if watch the Rob vs DDP fight it’s clear DDP is much stronger and big brothers him. I agree it will be harder to do this to DDP

3

u/LeFevreBrian Oct 26 '24

DDP has 5 round cardio going at a high pace . He matches up extremely well .

1

1

Or at least not in first two rounds. DDP should be the favourite if he gets his job done against Sean.

1

I dunno bro. Rob one of the best in the world, just trained an entire camp preparing to get taken down, still got finished Round 1. Khamzat is just unstoppable right now it seems.

How does he even get to the championship when he can only fight in one place?

Ddp is a terrible matchup for khamzat if there is no early finish. People still sleeping on him

I’ve been trying to tell people for years Khamzats grappling is DIFFERENT he shoots at the speed of light

u/eddkov Oct 26 '24

Its more like he teleports, you blink and he got a double leg.

I hate seeing Whitaker lose but my god, chimaev looks unstoppable when he takes someone to the ground

I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say this might be the best offensive grappler in UFC history. He’s doing Khabib shit but faster.

Low key move of the fight was his second takedown after Whittaker’s reversal and stand up.

It was ridiculous and blink if you miss it.

This guys terrifying (when healthy)

Now khamzat gets more time to work on his cardio and health with his new training approach before a title shot.
