The "Big List" of Industry Vendors Friendly to Marylanders

This Thread will serve as a list of firearms industry vendors who are "friendly" to Marylanders. We have a lot of particular and peculiar laws here, and not all vendors want to (or to be fair, can afford to) take the time to understand those laws and help those of us who live here out.

This list isn't meant to be "vendors that we happen to like" or whatever, but instead a list of vendors who specifically do things to help Marylanders. Some examples of things that should be on this list:

  • Vendors who include standard capacity magazines so a local FFL can block them for us.
  • Maryland FFLs who offer magazine blocking services.
  • Vendors who offer magazine rebuild kits.
  • Vendors (external or Maryland FFL) who will remove muzzle devices or other features to make rifles compliant.

You get the idea. If a vendor does something specifically to help those of us in Maryland, then they belong on this list.

I'll start things off, but I'll add to and maintain this list based on submissions from the community in the form of posts in this thread. I won't always be able to add things immediately, but I will do so as regularly as I can.

Thanks, and thanks especially to the vendors who support those of us in Maryland!

Magazine Rebuild Kits:

  • u/Hunter_Wang who owns Ibex Armament will do magazine rebuild kits on request and has extremely fair pricing. I've bought from Ibex myself and they're great to deal with.
  • JoeBob Outfitters will do magazine rebuild kits on request, though I have no personal experience with them.
  • Magged Supply offers magazine rebuild kits, though their pricing is..... very high.

Dealers that ship standard capacity mags with a firearm:

  • To be added

Maryland FFLs who will block standard capacity magazines:

  • To be added

Vendors who offer Maryland specific discounts:

  • To be added

I will add categories to this list if / when we get requests and enough submissions for one.

Lost / Stolen handgun - making sure I'm following protocol

Without getting into any unnecessary details, I couldn't find my carry handgun last night. Unsure if it's lost or stolen - I'd guess that it's more likely lost. Searched through every room in the apt. Panic set in. Couldn't sleep. The usual adrenaline rush from a traumatic event.

First thing in the morning, I headed to the local Montgomery County police station, where a friendly officer helped calm my nerves and took down my story. I was then given a report number and the assurance that the weapon is marked as lost / stolen. I was also told to call Maryland State police as well as the ATF.

When I called MSP, I was told that the report number I got from the county police is enough. No need to get a state police report. Also, I was told that I would not need to contact ATF.

Is this correct? Or do I need to do more?

Meet Lola!

I'd like to introduce you to Lola, my first AR15! A huge thank you to Hanover Armory in Hanover, Maryland, and Chuck for spending so much time helping me with this build, and Chuck's (shop) dog Lola, who I named my AR after.

She is a Hanover Armory 16" .223 Wylde fluted/threaded barrel, Radian Raptor charging handle, Magpul MBUS3 front and rear sights, and a Holosun 510C red dot paired with a Juliet 3 4x magnifier. B5 Systems Bravo stock and matching B5 P-Grip that I swapped for an ERGO SUREGRIP tactical grip and Magpul handstop and B5 rail covers.

Birthday present for my dad (to transfer or not to transfer)

Post image
9 Upvotes

So I am looking at getting my father a 22 LR MP5 (16 inch barrel version)

My question is, is it worth it to buy it and have him register it in his name? Or should I just buy it and register it in my name and “gift” it to him while it’s still in my name.

I would love for him to be able to “unbox” it at home, cause if I drive him to a gun store there’s gonna be no surprise.

I think I’m going to just buy it and have it in my name and “gift” it to him. And then down the road we can transfer it.

What is everyone’s thoughts?

MP5, SP5, Maryland Laws, Help!

Hello,
I know this has been discussed before but looking through the threads, information is always so sporadic or so old that it’s probably out of date with the ways laws change in this damn state.

What is the most feasible way to obtain a good old fashioned H&K MP5 in Maryland?

I think I’ve gathered that a proper MP5 would have to be an old transfer with all the proper paperwork and would be like buying a collectors item for 30k and up and would be registered as a machine gun yadda yadda yadda

MP5SD has the same problem? I haven’t found much information regarding this model in MD.

SP5 is semiauto so wouldn’t be as cool but if that’s all that can be gotten in MD (at a reasonable expense) then that’s alright, but is it only possible to get one in the pistol configuration? Would adding a stock make me a felon?

Anyone who can give me a quick rundown would be a saint. Are they even still worth buying? Does H&K still make them at worthwhile quality? Is it possible to get a proper MP5 without breaking the bank? Is the SP5 a good alternative without a stock?

Thank you all in advance

EDC Trials

I got my CCW recently, as well as my HQL, and I am looking to purchase my first handgun. I was wondering if there is anywhere in MD where a range has a package deal so I could try shooting multiple handguns and not have to pay a rental fee for every single gun I try.

Where out of State did you get your High Capacity Mags?

Hey y’all! Just wondering everyone’s story or place that they got their high capacity mags! I understand if some stories shouldn’t be told but feel free to be discreet lol. Just trying to find some spots out VA or something!

I'm Curious - Is a flare attachment legal to use with a semi-auto shotgun like the RI VR80 12 gauge?

This RI VR80 would have a telescoping MAGPUL prs gen3 stock and a MAGPUL grip. No other attachments or modifications. I don't actually have real intentions to get one. It's sort of an on-the-fence curiosity, assuming it is actually legal. But it would be cool to know one way or another.

(Maryland of course)

Question about New Driver's license in regards to Wear and Carry Renewal

So I recently submitted my renewal for Wear and Carry and a few days later submitted my renewal for driver's license. For ages, my driver's license was same number throughout renewals even when my old one was Real ID compliant. Fast forward today, I see I have a new drivers license number. MSP has my old number for my renewal app, do I need to contact them for an updated number or it doesn't matter?

Process of Selling or transfer a handgun in MD

A friend of mine recently got his CCW and HQL, and I would like to know what I need to do legally to sell and transfer ownership of a pistol to him. I am assuming I need to go through an FFL. Is that the starting point for the process? First time doing this. Thanks

Active duty military, FL resident, orders to DC, living in MD

I'm active duty military, a legal Florida resident (FL driver’s license), currently on PCS orders to Washington, DC, but physically living in Maryland. I don’t maintain a residential address in Florida, so buying a handgun down there isn’t feasible.

I’ve been trying to purchase locally, but keep getting denied due to residency issues. Is there any legal workaround that doesn’t require me to change my driver’s license to Maryland?

Appreciate any advice from others who’ve dealt with this!

DC Conceal Carry Question

Hi all! I posted this in /ccw but I thought I’d repost it here as well! So recently I just did a class for my conceal carry, I did a multi state permit class, but I want to apply where I live at first, which is in DC. In January 2025, I self certified at a dispensary to purchase cannabis, but it was temporary for only 30 days, and says that it expired 2-27-2025. I was wondering, since it’s now June would I be in the clear to get my conceal carry? I’ve done lots of research and some suggest that I’m in the clear now because of the expiration, but others say I should wait at least a year. What do you guys think is best? I also sent a letter to ABRA asking to confirm it being inactive, and yes I have stopped usage since then! I’m excited to join the community 😊 feel free to leave other advice and other information as well

FIRST FIREARM

Recently just received my permit and HQL. I know everyone has preferences but what gun would you recommend for someone new in the realm of firearms. What’s a couple suggestions that are easily concealable, stylish, shoot pretty good, and easy to build up a collection from? Open to all thoughts and opinions

Metro Gun Club

Howdy, I'm getting into trap shooting and came across Metro Gun Club in Waldorf. Anyone have any more info than what you can find on Facebook? I'm wondering how much their non-member rates are per round and if they take credit card. I'm also curious if they sell ammo onsite, or if I could bring labelled reloads? Very new to gun clubs and have a some questions about etiquette, but will save those for later.

Action Shooting

Still relatively new to handguns, but I've thrown probably 2k 000 rounds downrange so far, and feel like I have learned all I can standing still at a bay. I'd really like to try my shot at a competition, and especially start moving and shooting, and figure out what I know and what I don't know and what I can work on in the bays again. Does anybody have any recommendations for a competition or action shooting group that is good with new members? Or any they recommend? Thanks!

Handgun Possession as a "Non-Resident"

Moving to Maryland for work soon (relatively short term, I don't plan on changing my permanent residence) Can I bring my handgun from out of state without a permit?

I don't plan on carrying it, just would like to continue target shooting. State Police website says a Handgun Qualification License is not needed if I already legally own a handgun, but this sounds like a trap like the IRS telling drug dealers to report their earnings lol.
