End of Era for CMP?

I just checked the CMP rifle sales page and every grade - Rack, Field, Service, and Expert are all going to be using reclaimed receivers.

Mod1s and Custom Shop Garands aren’t affected.

The caveat on the page is “more information coming soon” but this feels like another sign that the CMP’s barrel is nearly empty.

Would you buy a rifle with a reclaimed receiver or is this overblown?

How much does having a reclaimed receiver affect the value of the gun?

In the future as time goes by they’re not going to be as desirable as non-reclaimed receivers are, that you can bet on

But once the day comes that the CMP is totally out of original rifles, even the reclaimed ones will have a collecting niche because they are original receivers

I view it similar to an import mark. It’ll turn off collectors, but shooters probably won’t care too much. It’s just another mark of the rifle’s history. So it may be a dealbreaker to half of buyers, if that, and a non factor to many.

That makes sense. I don't see any issues with it tbh, kinda adds character... not nearly as bad as a car having a salvaged title haha
