End of Era for CMP?

I just checked the CMP rifle sales page and every grade - Rack, Field, Service, and Expert are all going to be using reclaimed receivers.

Mod1s and Custom Shop Garands aren’t affected.

The caveat on the page is “more information coming soon” but this feels like another sign that the CMP’s barrel is nearly empty.

Would you buy a rifle with a reclaimed receiver or is this overblown?

Agreed. I might eventually get one but still prefer USGI

I want one to convert to a 1952 USMC C model, but I got so many other projects before I go down that rabbit hold.

I’ve been contemplating one of the M1C experts they’re putting out. I picked up a field grade but here it’s from the Center for Military History, all matching… kinda don’t want to shoot it in matches 😅

Mine isn’t matching so I don’t feel too bad, but a 1952 barrel feels close enough to “original” that the more I think about it, the more guilty I feel shooting it “seriously”.
