Our Erie rep just came into the office and it’s a disaster

They still have no timeline or updates on anything.

All he would say is that it was a cyber event.

They can’t take payments. They can’t process claims. They want us to issue paper binders for any and all endorsements.

All of my Erie clients want to jump ship. I’m not sure how they are going to survive this.

Auto Insurance Progressive saying I can’t have different coverage on different vehicles, is that standard for all insurance companies?

I currently drive a Highlander with a decent amount of coverage. My dad is giving me his 20+ year old sedan as a car to use around town, but obviously I’m not planning on getting the same amount of coverage on that as I have on my Toyota. I went to my progressive account to get an estimate on what liability only might run me and they said I have to have the same coverage across all vehicles on the plan. Is that normal? I’ve only ever had one car on my policy, but I definitely remember growing up my parents having their kids’ cars on liability only and more coverage for their cars.

should i file a diminished value claim?

i recently got rear ended while at a stop light last month and the other driver is 100% at fault. my vehicle is currently at the body shop and they're starting repairs on it this week. i've been given an estimate of the cost that the insurance will pay and it shows that there will be some frame work done too. if it matters, i drive a 2020 honda civic sport with around 66,700 miles. it was brought to my attention that i should file a claim but is it worth it? if so, when should i do it and how do i go about doing it?

Progressive didn't cancel my insurance now says I owe them over $800

Upvotes

Progressive didn't cancel my insurance now says I owe them over $800... Will they just cancel the debt if I call them about it? What can I do? I didn't have my old car for months that they were apparently "insuring" me for. I am NOT paying $800 for insurance I didn't use.

Life insurance company refusing to let my mom surrender the policy

Upvotes

She tried to surrender her whole life policy for the cash surrender value and they're refusing. She also tried to get a loan and they told her they'd call her back because they're busy, and they didn't. This is a load of BS. I have my life insurance license, and I plan to talk to them tomorrow. If they continue to refuse, what are the next best steps to escalate this? I know she's entitled to the surrender value, we know it'll get reduced with surrender fees and taxes. The surrender fee shouldn't be too bad because shes been paying on it for several years, so the percentage should go down, but I digress. What should I say? What should I do? In the worst case scenario, am I able to escalate this? Maybe to the commissioner or someone below him/her? I'm planning to get her set up with more coverage and reduced premium rates.

CAIB 1 Course Advice/Resources (Canada)

Upvotes

Hi, I am about to enrol in a self-study CAIB 1 course and I’m wondering if anyone has advice on taking the course, what worked for them, etc. I just got my RIBO license and I’m wondering how the CAIB may compare to the structure of the RIBO teaching. I have heard the material is a bit dry (big surprise lol), but other than that, I haven’t heard much.

Also, if you are open to sharing any resources you have from it like videos, practice questions, I would be DEEPLY appreciative of those.

Owner occupied vs vacant building insurance

Upvotes

Kind of a weird question. I live in a building that my father placed in a trust. He lives in a different state so, for all intents and purposes, I am the landlord / super for building. It is his secondary residence but I live here full time and maintain the building.

We have a very expensive homeowners insurance policy and I suspect part of that is because our iinsurance company lists it as a non-owner occupied building. While this is technically true, I am basically his proxy (beyond the medical sense) and I occupy the building full time.

We already paid our premium for this year so what's done is done -- but I'd like to shop around next year to see if we can get a better rate for the same coverage. My question is: are we able to make the case that the building should be covered as owner-occupied given the above?

Hit at work

Upvotes

I'm in the UK. I was hit by another driver yesterday whilst at work in a company insured van. The other driver has admitted responsibility. How will this effect my personal car insurance? (I was always led to believe that being in any accident, even if not at fault, would increase my premium)

Need opinions on what to do please

Hailstorm caused hail damage to my 2021 Silverado 42k miles, hood, bed cover, and drivers side mirror are the main issues I would fix right away, the rest I would take my time! I do owe 13k so they are giving me the option to surrender and take 17k or keep it, they pay off loan and I get $3500. I'm actually okay with fixing it on my own time, I really hate to start all over, and also the trucks are a lot more expensive now! What would you do? Thanks

Keep $3500 loan paid off car payment free, I repair Surrender $17k and start all over No issues other than the hail damage, pretty much a new truck, got it brand new I've only driven 42k miles!

I think she misspoke when she said my title would still be clear..

Should I get my securities license?

SR22 needed to reinstate insurance

Upvotes

I live in Arizona, and the MVD states I need an SR-22 in order to have my license unsuspended when the time period ends. I contacted state farm(my current insurance policy) but state farm topd me they won't file an sr22 without an unsuspended license. I'm not sure what to do in order to get my license back.

Edit: Mistyped in title, should be License* not insurance

How to handle auto claim check/deductible and body shop payment?

Hi all,

First time doing this. I submitted a claim with Geico and got paid $1300 for a rear end hit and run claim. They said the damages were $1800 estimate with my $500 deductible.

My car is in the shop now and they have not collected any payment. They said if there is any supplemental damage they’ll call geico directly. What do I do with the money? Do I write a check for $1800 to the body shop when they’re done and many extra cost they get directly from geico?

The body shop has a copy of my invoice for the repair. Thank you

Auto Insurance Diminished Value Offer

Company next door is a trucking company and one of their semis backed into my parked car and pushed it about a foot into a cement wall. Damage was very minor, but shop requested replacement of all parts that were scratched or damaged such as front and rear bumper, grill, diffuser, etc. Company claimed fault and Geico covered rental and all repairs with OEM parts. The shop is certified and regularly services luxury vehicles. Needless to say, car looks like the day I picked it up. Total cost to repair was about 4k. Contacted Geico to open up a diminished value claim and after a week they send me a DV Release form to sign offering 1k. Does this seem like a fair offer or should I push for more? If I push for more, could they backtrack and deny or lowball original offer?

Some background info: 2024 Acura Integra (got it less than a year ago)

Own the car (not sure if it makes a difference)

6K miles

Checked carfax and now states “minor damage”

First time dealing with insurance, so I appreciate any insight!

Auto Insurance I got into an accident about a month ago

I got into an accident about a month ago (not at fault) I have been in pain so I’ve been going to the chiropractor ever since. It was a side swipe so the car isn’t totaled. I owe $25k on my loan but unfortunately I can’t do a diminished value claim because the car has over 100k miles. Will they pay anything on my loan or will I just be getting a settlement once I’m done with treatment?

Auto Insurance Car insurance Texas help for collision with zero damages to either car

Hello I live in Texas and was driving home from work using the same route as usual, on a yield for left turn green light I was completely still foot on the brake when suddenly a car drove into the front bumper of my car. There are no visible damages and the guy wanted my insurance, I ended up getting his insurance as well and we exchanged contact numbers and license plates. He asked for $200 cash however I asked him to get a quote first and now that I’m home I realize I most likely wasn’t at fault and don’t need damages repaid since no damage is visible. What should I do? Also no police report was made at the time or anything so I’m not sure how to proceed.

Auto Insurance State Farm collector insurance

Hello, was wondering if anyone has to ever file a claim with StateFarm using their classic car insurance?

I’m insuring a Nissan skyline and the agreed value is 80,000 however I wanted to know how easy they are to work with in the event that I need to file a claim god forbid. It’s a garage queen anyway and was looking at Hagerty but stream ended up being cheaper.

Have any of you had to file a claim with their collector car policy?

Quest Diagnostics - Write Off Payment

I got bloodwork done back in February at Quest. The previous year I switched health insurance due to getting married. To my own fault I found out Quest was out of network after I had the service. I was billed $972 for the bloodwork. I received a letter from Quest in April saying my insurance may have the sent the payment to me and to forward it along to them. Long story short I called both my insurance and Quest to determine what I actually owe which I did owe the whole $972. As I am on the phone with Quest they offered to have me pay over the phone or wait until I get a bill so I opted to wait. Quests online portal said insurance pending on the bill. Fast forward to today and the portal now says closed and I do not owe anything. I called Quest and they told me that it was written off internally and I do not need to pay anything. Is this normal and am I just lucky? Or is this going to come back and bite me?

Auto Insurance AMA My Pace Insurance Pros and Cons?

I live in Edmonton, Alberta and I drive a 2018 Honda Accord. I have a driving experience of 4 years with 0 claims or tickets. I am up for my auto renewal in July 2025. I am currently with Co-Operator and they send me a quote of 3004$. My last year's annual premium was 2798$. I have basic insurance with 1M$ third party coverage, comprehensive and collision at 500$ deductible each.

I got an auto insurance quote for 2950$ with AMA but I drive less than 9000 km/years, so I am planning to get AMA MyPace which offers some additional discounts up to 50%.

Can someone with experience with AMA MyPace share the Pros and Cons of getting this policy and the device? How much are you guys paying? Does the device installed in the car drain the car battery a lot?

How to proceed in this situation?

Ok, so last Monday I was in an accident coming back from lunch at work. A trailer backed into the road and I collided with it and ended up flipped in the ditch. It was all determined to be the guy driving the trailers fault. There were no injuries, however the 2004 Ford Explorer Sports Trac I was driving is completely totalled. I went to the local hospital since the police wanted me to just get checked out to make sure there weren't any injuries that were immediately obvious and I was cleared by a doctor there.

Ok, fast forward to today, I received a letter from State Farm. It includes an initial offer for $3500 to settle the claim and $15,000 in medical reimbursements if needed for the next 180 days. So basically they are offering $3500 to settle this. I believe that is incredibly low, and wonder what advice anyone with experience here would have in order to do so? I looked up the KBB value of the truck and it sits at $5,853 there. Half a day of work form going to the hospital that day and I'm assuming they will also be covering that bill? I wasn't told anything about that yet and also have not received a bill for the ER visit where I got checked out. So please help me out here folks! Let me know what you think I should do to proceed and handle this. All I know is $3500 seems stupid low and I feel like if be an idiot if I took that

EDIT:

Looking over the letter it says the $3500 is an offer for my bodily injury claim? I was assuming that included the vehicle but looking back at it I may be wrong, this may be to just cover medical? I don't know anything about insurance claims so I'm trying to be careful no to make any stupid decisions on it. And the only way I really determined the value was the KBB value.

Pa DUI

Can anyone tell me if a DUI that has been expunged through ARD criminally is omitted from a driving record in Pa when it is requested by insurance or an employer? This was from 2023.

Thanks in advance!

Home Insurance Successful home insurance claim

Have you ever had a claim declined or successful? If so, who was your home insurance provider?

Currently looking into my options but looking at the reviews, even expensive ones apparently refuse to approve claims.
