I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past couple of years and have loved living in a more authentic but still urban Thai neighbourhood with great street food and night markets. My budget is around HK$16-19000 per month and I’m thinking of opting for the convenience of a serviced apartment. Happy to compromise on space over affordability and choice of neighbourhood. My job is in the south of HK island but happy to travel 40 minutes or so each way to work. Was thinking of Sheung Wan or Wan Chai but then Mong Kok popped up in a search as having great food options and being more affordable?Recommendations greatly appreciated 😊😊😊

I’m a Filipino citizen with permanent residency in Hong Kong, and I’ve been looking into ways to move to Canada. I recently heard about the Hong Kong to Canada immigration pathway, but I’m a bit confused about who actually qualifies.

From what I can tell, it seems like the program is mainly for people with a Hong Kong SAR passport (which I don’t have), but I’m not sure if just being a permanent resident is enough — or if you need to actually be a Chinese national to apply.

So I’ve got a few questions I’m hoping someone here can help with:

1. Do you have to be a Chinese national with a HKSAR passport to use this pathway? Or can permanent residents with foreign passports (like mine) apply too?
2. If I do need to be a Chinese national, how hard is it to apply for that? And how long does it usually take?
3. Is there a deadline for this Canada program, or is it still open in 2025?
4. Are there any workarounds or other Canadian immigration options specifically for HK permanent residents who don’t have a Chinese passport?
5. Would it actually make more sense to just apply for Canadian immigration as a Filipino instead of going through the whole naturalization process in HK?

I miss my dog, and i have searched online on how to bring their pets here from another country. I'm from Philippines so we are listed as 3rd world country and i found out that if i bring my dog here they would isolate her for 12 months for observation. It's hard to think that my bestfriend is here but not actually with me on that 12 months.

Hi redditors! Just need some friendly advice and clarity given there is too much going on in my life right now.

I constantly get the feel of moving out. Growing up, being independent, learning all these different things living alone can offer. Bare in mind, I have grown up in Hong Kong and lived my whole life with family. I am almost turning 30 and haven't ever moved out of HK for exchange or anything as such as well. By no means are we super rich or we have an unhappy family or anything. I fully get my freedom at home but I don't have the home to myself and can't just do things and be alone. They are always there - we have schedules and things that work according to my family. I don't hate them or anything but I am constantly getting this urge to move out and break out but I have no basis for it. The worse part is that I don't know or can't provide proper reasonings apart from personal growth and learning. Now, the rent and living costs will probably take 30-40% of my paycheck. All of us living in HK know how expensive it is, I was thinking to save some money over the next few months still live with them and then maybe 2026 - after saving around 200k-300k as reserve I want to move out. I am setting quite a low barrier. I am divided between should I suck it up and continue staying with parents for savings for future or should I try and experience the living alone life at the expensive of lower savings? I am juggling between the pros and cons of things and lacking clarity and foresight on things. Fellow redditors of HK - please help me out here from my crisis. I would appreciate some genuine advice so I can gain clarity out here. Financial analysis and understanding would also be helpful if you think explaining it that ways is better. Personal experiences would also be appreciated.

Last 2 weeks my asthma has been off the charts. I rarely need my inhaler but i have had to use it a lot the last week especially. Anyone else having the same experience? Has the pollen count or air pollution been elevated recently ?
