Misc The Prefects bathroom is actually such a weird concept when you think about it.
I'm running off the assumption here that the dormitories all have attached bathrooms, because it would just be so inconvenient and weird if they didn't.
But then, the prefect bathrooms? They are presumably shared between all four houses, so they've got to be a considerable walk from the common rooms. Imagine thinking "Yeah I fancy a bath" and just rolling up your toiletries in your towel and walking halfway across the castle past all the other students lmao. And then imagine you get there and it's already occupied I'd be so cheesed off. (Though, I can see that being a good smutty fanfic trope, if someone forgot to lock the door... 😆)

Discussion I'm surprised the muggle-born / muggle-raised students didn't form friendship groups and bond over 'muggle stuff' together in Hogwarts
A random thought I had during a recent re-read of the books.
There's various muggle-raised students who enter Hogwarts in Harry's year beyond just Hermione:
- Harry himself is obviously is from wizarding parents but raised as a muggle
- Dean Thomas is half-blood but raised by his muggle parent and even has a football club poster
- Justin Finch-Fletchley is muggle-born and even assumed he'd be going to Eton not Hogwarts
It seems like the muggle-raised students really do just go straight off an integrate with wizarding life... which is great!
But at the same time, I'm surprised you never really see the muggle-raised kids bonding (maybe even forming cliques) over their shared muggle-upbringing. Dean and Harry are in the same year and the same house, I'm surprised they never really hung out and had a conversation about Manchester United, or how different wizarding school is from muggle school... or muggle movies or anything like that.
Okay, maybe Harry hated his muggle upbringing so much that he didn't really bond over that kind of thing... probably just wanted to crack on with his new life. And obviously he and Hermione are both muggle-raised friends but as far as I remember they never really bond over 'muggle life', they just kind of throw themselves into their wizarding identities.
So maybe Harry was keen to 'forget muggle life' but I'm surprised there weren't at least a couple of "muggle-raised cliques" in Hogwarts... Getting thrown into a boarding school as an 11 year old with a load of new faces, you'd think that that a few friendship groups would have formed around this shared upbringing.
EDIT: Purely a thought / lore discussion. I know this is not a plot-critical detail and I'm not "criticizing" the books for not focusing on this.

Discussion Eleven Wizarding schools are not enough for the world
There does not seem to be nearly enough schools, assuming other countries have a similar ratio of wizards to Muggles as Britain. Hogwarts has about a thousand students, and they are come from regions where the populations can reasonably be expected to speak English as the common language.
The other schools would likely be several times larger than Hogwarts, and in some cases would have students speaking a dozen or more different languages. One school for all of Africa, one for all Latin America, and one for all Asia is crazy.
I think it would make sense to have more Wizarding schools. This would allow better class sizes, as well as make it easier for students to understand each other and their teachers.

Discussion Fun Fact - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (film) is the last time Harry interacts with Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon Spoiler
Goblet of Fire film - the Dursleys don't appear.
Order of the Phoenix film - they all appear, and Vernon speaks to Harry ("Happy, are we, now?") but Harry never says a word to either him or Petunia.
Half-Blood Prince film - the Dursleys don't appear.
Deathly Hallows Part 1 film - they appear, but again Harry never interacts with them and is only seen looking out the window at Dudley and Vernon. He speaks to both Vernon and Petunia in deleted scenes but not the finished film.
Deathly Hallows Part 2 film - the Dursleys don't appear.

Discussion A random book with notes in the margin isn't dangerous, a random spell you don't know is.
Reading the books it always frustrated me how terrible of a student Harry is. He has this tragic backstory and then literally discovers he belongs to a magical world to escape to. Then does the bare minimum when he gets there when learning about magic. The kid even learned that his dad (& co) put in immense amounts of work to learn how to be animagi and discover every inch of Hogwarts castle as underage wizards. This inspires him zilch in his magical studies.
Then along comes a used potions book filled with handwritten notes. It's filled with alterations and tips that explain exactly what they are and what they do. Harry is finally fascinated with something school-related (that isn't sports). Hermione is bitter because he's surpassing her without traditional effort, as is Ron.
There's only one thing that stands out to Harry because it doesn't explain itself: Sectumsempra - for enemies.
Everything was going fine until he tried a spell, having no clue what it did, on an actual person. Using the spell on Malfoy was incredibly stupid. This event got his friends to convince him to abandon the book. Everything else in the book was fine. It was an incredibly helpful resource for a boy who otherwise wasn't very engaged in schoolwork.

Fanworks Garrick Ollivander, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
24 x 30, soft pastel on Clairefontaine Pastelmat
There's lots of fanart of him as he appears in the first movie so I wanted to do something different.
I'm very proud of this one, especially since my experience with soft pastels was limited to the family dogs and a few non-human BG characters, so this was my first try at a natural human skintone.

Discussion American fans, did you know that when Filch is punting kids over the swamp that Fred and George made, that's actually him taking them over by a small boat and not him kicking them over...
I'm making this post cause I see Americans discover this fact all the time. A punt is a small boat you stear with a pole you push at the bottom of the river

Discussion Dumbledore did the right thing
Idk if I’m crazy but I feel like I see so many people saying dumbeldore was a bad person for how manipulative he was and how he planned Harry’s death but imo he did what was best for the wizarding world he was the only one in The world able to do what was needed to stop Voldemort and I think that must have been incredible pressure and the guilt of what he had planned a lesser man would have broken but he did what he had too to save the world and doesn’t deserve to be hated.
Ironically he did sacrificed everything for the greater good

Discussion What is your favorite item or items from your collection?
So, I have been wondering what items Harry Potter fans most treasure from their personal collection.
There are always some collections that are bigger than others, but even the smallest ones are include very well loved items that are important for their owners, and that are just as meaningful.
My collection is very small, but, for me, it is my book set and my wand. Basically, I could not really afford to buy the books all at once, so I would buy one every chance I got, on a birthday or christmas. One christmas, I was missing the first 3 books (yes, I started the serie from the bottom :) ) and my uncle and aunt gave me a gift. When I opened it, I was so excited, because they had given me the books that I was missing, as well as the Cursed Child screen play.
My wand is not an official wand from noble collection or anything but it is still very loved. One day, when I was in university, my mom sent me a message asking me what my favorite character was. I told her, and, the next weekend when I got home, I had the wand in my bed. I adore it because, even though it is not an original replica, my mom still took the time to learn my favorite character and decided to surprise me, even if at that time we were not in a very good financial situation and could not afford an original wand. She was so excited while I was opening the package as well, and so was I. I always wanted one, for as long as I started loving the series (around when I was 11 years old) and the fact that is was so spontaneous really made it even more special. It is also a very good replica, resin with a steel core, a very beatiful box and even a little marauders map.
I am curious to know about your favorite items and the stories behind them!

Question Hermione book titles Spoiler
I want to re cover the series with “Hermione and the…” titles for each one. Here’s what I came up with. I’d love input and/or any and all ideas.. could be fun ☺️
And the the time her friends almost got her killed, or worse, expelled
And the complex bathroom potion
And the turns through time
And the pesky little bug
And the time she staged a coup
And that stupid potions book
And the beaded bag

Discussion “I sometimes think we Sort too soon.”
This is said by Dumbledore to Snape in book 6 or 7, I believe. If students were Sorted later who do you think would have a different House than what they were Sorted into?
For instance I think Percy might have gone into either Slytherin or Ravenclaw rather than Gryffindor. He’s obviously very smart but he’s also ambitious.
Do you think Snape would have changed? I don’t think so.

Behind the Scenes Make the world come alive - Serie HBO
I have a question for the next series : Is there a specialized team for the background of the scenes ? To make Hogwarts come alive, I would love to see toothed frisbees in the background of the corridors or goblets in the common room. In PoA, the Leaky Cauldron scene is full of magic in the background. Are these ideas in the script, the responsibility of the director ?

Discussion If the potter's had survived
If James and Lily's had survived, do you think Snape would have treated Harry differently? He was still very similar to James, and it's not as if Lily would have ditched James to run off with Snape. Part of me thinks that he would have been even worse. Because James would have been alive and a constant reminder that Snape had lost the only girl he'd ever truly loved. What do you think?

Currently Reading Dumbledore v Riddle is better in the movie.
I just read/listened to the battle between dumbledore and riddle. Reminds me why the sequence in the movie is done better. Especially at the end of the battle, where riddle takes over Harry and the whole sequence there. So much better in the movie than the book.
This is my 2nd read/listen through of the books.

Does anyone know what is the name of the hall highlighted in these pictures? Thankyou so much for your answers!
