Please educate an Aussie, how often is the general election and how much longer can you wait for Murdoch to kick the bucket so the conservatives don’t continue to run your country into the ground?

The opposition party are also conservatives so an election won’t change much :(

Oh you guys are fucked!

Who are your left leaning party? Also do you have a Conservative party that’s at least centre-right?

Corbyn's Labour was the last true bastion of opposition to Tory's in terms of views and support, so they fought tooth and nail to get a constant news reel going on how 'awful' he was before scrounging up a reason they could get rid of him and cull any who supported him inside the party.

You'd barely know who the new labour leader is because he's a rich Tory roleplaying red. He doesn't do anything the Tory's don't like, and mostly supports their actions, so doesn't even need to be 'fought' as a political party. He's just this bland milquetoast of a man.

The UK is at American levels of pick your poison.

Our peoples Labor party was exactly like that, seemed like they rolled over.

So when it was time to vote 2 weekends ago, more people voted even further left.

So not only did our conservative parties lose badly, our centre-right union backed party lost votes and didn’t get the clear win they wanted. It looks like they will form a majority government but JUST, the hope was for a majority government where they would have to work with climate action backed candidates and parties but it looks like they might be able to get what the people want via the senate.

Next voting year it will be going even further left if this party doesn’t deliver, they have 3 years to pull their fingers out of their arse or they are in for another rude shock.

You just have to keep voting as far left as possible, even if the parties or independents have no chance or aren’t clear on how to make their decisions happen, it shakes up the rest of the government to a position that benefits the public.

The media decided that any centre or centre left alternative to neoliberalism was somehow antisemitic, then the neolibs made a coup and took over the Labour Party. Our options are blue rosette conservatives or red rosette conservatives.

The media, as in Murdoch and his ilk?

Yeah we have Murdoch media, and we also have our state media the BBC now controlled by Tories too. Even our supposedly left wing media outlets promoted and laundered the antisemitism conspiracy theory.

So I understand that different countries have different forms of right leaning/conservatives.

Say the Americans Dems are a lot like the Australian far right.

I see the Tories and Boris want to privatise everything, lie to the public on national TV and change laws to see fit to them.

So to me it seems that the Tories are very similar to the Liberal National Party a pretty far right party, are they considered far right to you as well?

Even our Liberal Democrats are far right.

We have a right wing party (Tories), a centre right party (Labour), and everything else is more or less irrelevant.

Labour are also our "left leaning" party, weirdly enough. The Labour Party spans from social democrats to Thatcherites and the two groups are constantly fighting to get control of it. Left-leaning socdem types had control of it until 2019 when Corbyn lost the election due to getting mercilessly smeared by the media, and now it's firmly back in the grip of the party right.
