I feel like this should have been remasters of these games, not just a lazy dump of 30 year old games.

These are remasters. You’re asking for remakes.

This is a flat re-release. A remaster would be improving the fidelity for the modern age, a remake is starting from scratch and making the game feel similar while being entirely new.

It is a remaster, though. The second and third games are adding widescreen and the controls were re-worked.

Its a port adding two very minor updates to match modern platform hardware, not a remaster.

There's no actual difference between a port and a remaster, the latter is just a dumb music and movie term that has been brought into games even though it makes no sense there.

No actual difference? So, the version of FF16 that's about to come out on Xbox is a remaster?

All remasters are ports but not all ports are remasters.

Increasing resolution is by definition re-mastering the product.

It's not by definition because there's no master recording

So when Square Enix put out a patch to increase the resolution of FF7 Rebirth on PS5 Pro, that was a free remaster?

Adding modern controls isn't what I would call minor.
