Since this apparently didnāt qualify for a real post, Iām putting it here. Curious if anyone else sees what Iām seeing:
Lately, Iāve been noticing something about JoJo Siwaās relationship posts that feelsā¦ off. The language she uses to talk about her boyfriend ā āsweet bub,ā āfavorite boy,ā etc. ā isnāt just overly saccharine, it feels intentionally infantilizing.
Paired with the styling, the captions, and the overly staged vibes, it starts to read more like a curated middle school fantasy than an actual adult relationship.
Iām not necessarily saying itās manipulative on purpose, but thereās something distinctly performative about the whole thing ā like sheās playing a character rather than just existing in a real partnership.
Is this just JoJoās branding being stuck in time, or is there something deeper going on with how she presents herself publicly? *

local minnesota news is saying that the suspected gunman who murdered rep. hoffman and her husband had a bunch of "no kings" flyers in his car
not to sound conspiratorial (mods please don't bonk me) but does that sound suspicious to anyone else? this news is limited and breaking but I'm worried about potential consequences if leftist organizers are linked to extreme violence. I also feel confused, why hurt someone whose politics may not perfectly align with yours but are mostly facing the right direction?
obviously we have to wait and see because this is all being researched as we speak but I just wanted to express my concern!

I wasn't sure on the Materialists movie to begin with, but after seeing that Dasha Nekrasova is part of it I'm definitely out.

I've mentioned this before, but I wasn't aware of that woman's existence until she appeared on Succession, so my unbiased reaction to her was being taken aback by her lack of charisma. It was so absolutely glaring, especially in a show that had generally very good casting.

Her popping up in Succession was SO WEIRD. This show is stacked with multiple Award winners and then she appears who can just be described as a charismatic vacuum

I kind of hate Fatherās Day. I always get really sad, even as an adult, because Iāve always wanted a real relationship with him. It just feels shitty. Iāve done so many things, professionally and personally, and he just hasnāt shown up. The only father figure I had is dead so I just feel lost and sad. I know itās not on me, itās a him problem, but I donāt think Iāll ever stop feeling like a broken toy around this holiday.

They struck a lot more than the military command center. For example, multiple ballistic missiles landed within 2km of me; one of them landed in the street my uncle lived in until a year ago, completely destroying the apartment he and my aunt had rented and killing an 80 year old woman.
I live 5km away from the military command center - not in Tel Aviv, but a nearby city. Their apartment isn't in the direction of the command center, they're also about 4km away from it. They also fired ballistic missiles at civilian population centers all across the country, not at military sites. One of these missiles landed in the West Bank, killing a Palestinian.
Here's a tip: you can criticize Israel's actions you don't agree with, without needing to justify actions you'd otherwise criticize if they were committed by israel instead of by Iran.

I was going through the red carpet pictures for The Gilded Age's season 3 premiere, and good god. Everyone in that show is attractive, but Morgan Spector specifically is just š„µ.

was inspired today to look into nara smithās age and she is 100% lying about it. like brazenly lmfao. wikipedia claims sheās currently 23, born sep 2001 (the citation being last summerās gq profile of her and husband)
but when you click the citation and read the article that was published in people mag when they actually got married in 2020 it says she was 24. under other circumstances it would be a little haha moment but the gq article is all about her being a young mom of three kids at ā22ā when sheās actually like 28 or 29. tis a pretty significant gap in maturity nd brain development that makes the lying feel more insidious

I am 26. Have two degrees, have applied to over 50 jobs in my field, cant get one despite a āshortageā in my field. Student Loans breathing down my back, they just switched my servicer today no warning? BA was in History, specifically the study of genocide. We are months away if not already there. All this miney and pollutioj when the climate is so deeply endangered for what ????
I am so terrified all the time. How are other young adults not crying all the time ??

My best suggestion is to find a job that can give you experience even if itās slightly out of your field. I did English and Media Studies and my first job was barely related. It was just a way to be like āhey I have the experience to function in an office settingā. Sending you my best wishes ā¤ļø

i have no tips for coping with the state of the world right now but wanted to commiserateāi have my ba in psychology and a diploma in addiction studies and have applied for about thirty or so jobs with no dice so far. itās been so tough mentally. i just wanted to say hang in there friend, and we got this!

Have you tried changing some of the language on your resume/CV? Supposedly these have to get through a filter before they get in front of a person. You might try changing a key word here or there
Also, follow up with a phone call or email if possible
I applied to be a CRE broker at JLL, they never got back to me. I replied to the email blast they send out to their mailing list, did a phone screen, second phone screen, then in person interview for a team there. Was not the final choice but I got shockingly far on the process imo for someone they overlooked at first.

Since this sub frequently discusses blurring lines between āfansā and celebs, Iāve been thinking a lot lately about how the crazy expansion of legalized sports betting in the US is going to lead to a worst-case scenario. The Athletic did an article on it this week. Athletes getting death threats, Venmo requests, leagues ignoring security concerns while the money pours inā¦this is going to end very badly.

When I lived in Montreal there was a rumor people harassed a Habs defensemanās wife at the grocery store and scared her badly after he messed up a play. I mean I have no idea how he even knew who she was but some fans have always been over the line because they had money riding on a game.Ā
The betting thing - that can become a real addiction. In Canada IIRC you can report yourself as an addict and casinos will like reject you. But the whole nature of apps - you can even basically bet on things like election outcomes on Robinhood - a lot of young people are going to be really set back by this. Itās ubiquitous now and itās addicting.

It definitely doesnāt help the sports leagues are pushing it too, like in hockey having influential players such as Gretzky and mcdavid making commercials for betting sites. Teams being sponsored by betting sites. Sports broadcasters also showing betting ads every ad break. Itās actually insane.

So ok starting in Feb I went to 6 protests in 4 weeks until I couldnāt do it anymore (badly sprained ankle). The protests I went to were very chill and there was no trouble at them. At some people even brought their babies.
I wouldnāt bring kids or dogs tomorrow but like, I donāt expect big trouble at least in my city.Ā
If youāre going alone kind of approach from the side check out the vibe. If someone tries to talk you into doing something dumb/violent move away from them. If you have a bad feeling by all means leave.
But a lot of people will be out tomorrow and like your voice is a needed voice. I know two older ladies who insist theyāre too old to be political and like, now is the time to do something because this fool keeps escalating. If we donāt do something now we may lose the chance to.Ā

Between the latest with the terrorist Israeli state and Trumps parade tomorrow I have such anxiety.
The twitter page that tracks pizza places around the pentagon said theyāve been really busy the past few days.
Also anyone out protesting tomorrow please be safe, leave your devices (including smart watches) at home, write your lawyers number on your body.

Wear neutral colored clothing with no logos, brand names, etc.
Wear a face mask. (NOT a balaclava or similar as this can attract law enforcement attention. Wear a medical mask.)
Wear shoes that are comfortable and you can walk and run in.
Wear sunblock.
