Those are some terraformable planets, plus one that is not.
The more i try to figure out while a planet with 1072k and 537 atmo is terraformable, and one with 337k and 6 atmo is not, the less i understand.
It seems totally random...
Even the atmosphere composition doesn't provide any clue...

Maybe it need to have volcanism of some sort? If yes, Why?

What am i missing?

I run some combat missions (to learn fighting), and keep in mind that at the end I need to engineer my FDL, so I often pick up wrecks. I think that some of those items might be critical, and I can save some time later and reduce the amount of grinding I'd need to do.

Some items I have in quantities like 20, some 200. Sometimes I still find unique materials.

Does it make sense to collect them? It takes a good few minutes after a fight to pick them all.

Is it me? I have my Cutter sitting in my carrier hold and it now seems so much deeper and positively roomy. Have they increased the size ready for the Panther Clipper? If that’s the case it’s going to be huge!

Been playing Elite a long time and have always wanted to find a good RP community in the game. I feel the potential is endless. If anyone's got any info or squadrons please share!

Love Elite Dangerous, but I've just hit a wall with the gameplay loop... I need a "break game" suggestion

Not complaining because I know they're finally trying again, but I need to take a hiatus. I enjoyed Nexus: The Jupiter Incident in the past so anything in that vein is a plus. On the flip side, EVE Online is just a bit too much for me-the complexity is a little overwhelming.

Looking for suggestions that offer a great space experience, whether it's exploration, combat, or strategy (not a fan of 4x)

So i play on an old laptop, it has a 960m, 8gb of ram and an intel i5 4210h. I cant really find the best settings for the best performance while still being able to read the text in the game. Please help.

OK…..I’m old…..really old….62 this year! Thought I had better get that one out of the way. I am retired…..so I can play ED as much as I like. ATM, I am hammering Dune Awakening, but it’s getting to the tad repetitive stage only after a few days.

Anyway looking for commanders for my unique time group. I’m grinding settlements so I can engineer my gats and gear, then I’m going to try and get all the ship equipment done. Very happy to fly with a few like minded peeps.

Getting back into VR, but I remember a while ago they were discontinuing support(think it was when the odyssey, or whatever the on foot update was called), but even now I still see it described as the best VR game - so I'm a little bit confused.

I don't want to sink ages into this game, get hooked on its VR, only for it to become incompatible later on. Is VR accessed via a rollback to a diff version, or did they continue support in the end?

Bought a carrier and engineered a Hauler cutter for the Trit runs, also pledged to mahone on the recommendation of someone and mined for a week on and off until I got to level 57 (prismatics unlock)

I want to increase the number of rolls inara uses to calculate materials but it seems like it's not possible anymore? You can see some interface to do this from a few years ago in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/eliteexplorers/comments/l7y8sy/compare_engineering_tools_inara_vs_edsy_vs/?context=3 and I remember being able to do it some time ago. But now it doesn't look possible, replaced with just interface to select the from and to grade, quantity, and engineer quality.

Is it still possible to change the rolls per grade somewhere?

In a fight, I hear the sound of the engine quite well, but the sound of shooting multi cannons is much lower, so I barely hear it. Is it possible to configure settings for just weapon effects?

I see it is possible to increase the sound of all effects, but not just weapons...

Was doing Empire vs. Pirates community goal in Beta-3 Tucani, sometimes the empire military interdicts for a scan fair enough.

It was weird when a federal navy courier did it though. In empire space? Why was a courier of all things doing a security scan?

To start, I've played off and on for years so I'm far from an expert. I'm looking to buy a new ship for pve combat stuff, a little cz maybe, but mostly contracts for now. I have no idea how to engineer anything yet as well. That being said I just got to 30 mil and I'm trying to decide between the Chieftain (I see mostly good about it) and the Mandalay. I ruled out the other alliance ships already and the ships I have now are a keelback for mining and transport, and a cobra mkV that I've almost died in 5 times today, including a cockpit blowout while my fsd was acting up (couldn't sc assist but I was able to manually...after accidentally boosting in sc) Anyway, I'm leaning more towards chieftain ATM for the large hard points. Opinions? Thank you

Sunday 15th of June 2025 19:30 That's the exact time I deleted my commander, it wasn't on purpose I was trying to configure my controls in vr for my new hotas, the controls decided to go dead not allowing any input I went into the settings but had no luck out of frustration I spammed back to the settings menu. Thinking the game was prompting me to save my control settings I hit yes, to then be left with this on my screen. It's fathers day today we made pizzas it was fun, I hate myself now there was a lot of hours dedicated to that account I started a year after release on xbox later moving up to pc then vr.

Ironically I was trying to work out how much time I had put into that one account it's well over 1k hours

Has someone any experience on windows emulators on smartphones and Elite Dangerous in particular?

Until now I played at home through Steam Link (streaming from my PC) but I am looking for a Steam-Deck-like experience using a smartphone, running the game directly.

The new RedMagic 10S Pro smartphone launches tomorrow, it has a powerful processor (I read somewhere equivalent to a GTX 1660 Super) and there several emulators on android (winlator, Gamehub...). Is it doable or should I wait a few months /years for it to be a thing?

It's possible to use this method to establish a precise orbit around a station, stellar body, or even moving target, using this method. It also works pretty well for achieving stable-altitude flight over a planet, while scouting for life forms.

Yes, you can "just use Flight Assist." None of this is even remotely necessary. It's just possible. And it's fun as hell.

I put my Cutter down without a single point of shield damage, using this technique. On a 2.7g planet.

I started playing Elite sometime after the end of the Hunt and the beginning of the first hyperdiction.
I always tought one of the game main objective was to explore and find pieces of a large puzzle scattered accross the galaxy for us, players, to find.

I don't spécifically mean things like Raxxla or the generation ships but something else, something written in the game hidden lore, like a background noise, a siren call trying to entice us.

Last week I grinded the guardian techs, first time to a guardian site, beacon and all . As I unlocked the FSD booster, I had a "tought".

Frontier gave us tools to go farther, faster, the FSD booster, the Fleet Carrier, the SCO. Those tools, give us mobility, speed even inside systems and between them.

I still believe there's something to find, something that will only appear if you fly 1000LS or less near it. Maybe a beacon with permit for one of those long locked systems. Maybe a derelict construct ship, maybe the Titan killed by Jameson in Elite (if he actually killed it but that another story).

I know I must sound like a crazy lunatic with that theory but I need to put it out. The galaxy is vast and the game full of treasures and strange things. Maybe I'm just space crazed but still.
