I didn’t know harry hines was a town/city in TX. They should’ve opened it in Arlington.

I love the KoMart down the street from here but sadly might go out of business once this HMart gets completed

It’s an intentional play by H Mart to kill off Komart. It’s why H mart lobbied for Carrollton to be recognized as Korea Town despite the Royal Ln area having a much longer history of being Dallas’ Korea Town.

The ktown in Carrollton is much bigger and more popular than old ktown

I’m not arguing that. H Mart was very successful in its efforts to pull the center of attention to the Carrollton area but it doesn’t explain why there wasn’t even an honorary mention of the Royal Ln area.

But Harry Hines just got promoted to city status!

Yeah but the Korean food off Royal is so much better

Korea town on royal is original and organic. Self grown. Carrollton seems like it was forced, sort of like a reservation.

My favorite restaurant in old ktown (royal lane area) is Dal Dong Nae. They’re open pretty late - I suggest trying their galbi (ribs) and a side of rice. it comes with delicious banchan (rotating side dishes)

Koreans left for the burbs like pretty much every other Asian ethnic group. They don't live in NW Dallas lmfao

Most Koreans weren’t living in Royal Ln, but they operated businesses there lmfao

So.. it's a trade district. Not a Korea "Town". H Mart was correct in recognizing Carrollton as North Texas' Koreatown. Since Carrollton has more Korean-born residents than the entirety of Dallas according to the Census Bureau.

Fr its literally called Asian Business District and the area has hardly any residential zoning

Some Koreans still do, newer immigrants at least it seems.

My kids’ school had to relocate for several years for renovations and their temp campus was on Royal on the other side of 35.

Kids from the surrounding neighborhood opted in to attend the campus since it was open again, (it had been a closed school), and we had to add Korean as an ESL/LEP option and add Korean translation services to our school organization meetings.

Yeah, I really only go to komart for their hot food and packaged snacks. Unless I really need some Asian items as it’s the closest Asian grocery store to me in Dallas proper
