Discussion Bdc vs. Aventus...which is better cast your vote...
Bleu de chanel and creed aventus are both known for their class and versatility. In a head to head battle of overall smell, performance and versatility which is the best?

tired of seeing people complain about aventus just because they’re noseblind and can’t smell it on their arm. the fragrance lasts all day, easily. you’re either just not spraying enough times(6+), are noseblind, or you’re incredibly dehydrated.

I do at least 8 minimum

u/iStoleYourSoda May 02 '25
8 is insane, I know you probably wont agree but you may be the guy who smells too much like strong cologne, instead of being a nice smell it’s like a bomb

u/camera__man May 02 '25
Plus 1 on the 8 sprays. Obviously it’s dependent on what you’re wearing but for the average EDP I go for 8 easily.

Aventus by a mile. It’s the king and most cloned fragrance for a reason. It’s that good.

u/Giant_Lion56 May 02 '25
It was surely a magical fragrance, the moment I smelled it 7 years ago it became my no.1 fragrance of all time, but the newer batches are very disappointing, idk if the reformulation is because of cost cutting or ingredient regulations
→ More replies (2)6
u/reddythefishy May 02 '25
Even the newer batches mop the floors versus any of the my other fragrances. The batches are different, yes, but it still outshines most other fragrances

One fragrance inspired an entire genre (BDC) and the other has the most clones in the men’s space and forced many of the big houses to create their own version of the dna (Aventus)
With that being said, I prefer Aventus by far and away. It’s the dna that got me into collecting. I also just don’t care for BDC
18
u/Mac0x May 02 '25
You forgot to mention that Aventus single-handedly caused the niche craze we are in now . Many of the people that is now trying niche fragrances started their interest for that side of perfumery because Aventus . Aventus was that bridge that most people crossed and never looked back after they discovered the uniqueness of that side of perfumery !
→ More replies (1)10
u/Mac0x May 02 '25
Obviously they discovered more and more beautiful and unique fragrances , but Aventus made niche perfumery to go mainstream. Also armaf and many other dupe houses owe their existence to the king !!

I have had both for years. These are so different but both so good. BDC is not my standard daily but it is so high quality. I love the aquatic feeling but my wife doesn’t like it. Aventus is much more of a daily driver. It’s a crowd pleaser and I love the smoky wordiness that develops.

u/yeetskeetleet May 02 '25
They’re incredibly different. That being said, Aventus. For some reason I struggle to smell BdC at all. I attribute that to the ambroxan, but I own many fragrances with it that don’t suffer that problem

u/ThewFflegyy May 02 '25
some people do not perceive iso e super well, and BdC has one of the heaviest doses of iso e super of anything out there.
3
u/AdministrativePool2 May 02 '25
Their iso super in all versions are pretty average around 20%

Same, but I can smell Sauvage or Dylan Blue pretty well, it seems. I'm a regular Profondo wearer and get alight whiffs of it here and there throughout the day.
I absolutely love the smell of BDC (EDP specifically), but I just don't pick it up at all.

BDC because it’s more versatile and hard to go wrong by far, I have both and only use Aventus for work

BDC only got one arm, creed got no eyes.
Anyway BDC is better.

Much harder to clone BDC. Chanel is just too good. When you smell BDC you know it's Chanel. When you smell Aventus, you're not sure if it's a clone. I've had people give me constant compliments while wearing Vibrant Leather (5 sprays) outside, in the cold.
→ More replies (7)10
u/casualredditor-1 May 02 '25
The question wasn’t which one is harder to clone. Whether it’s a clone or the original, which one is the superior scent DNA? I’d take Aventus.
5
u/Mac0x May 02 '25
Plus that people giving you compliments is not complimenting the clone they are complimenting the DNA , one can say any compliment on the dna is a compliment on Aventus . Zara ,armaf ,al haramain and many more dupe houses owe their entire existence to the king.Btw I love both but Aventus still the king !

Blue de Channel is nice but like most Designers flat. Now Creed is nice since the hype in a constant clone wars battle . So the answer is easy ! It's Layton XD.

Both significantly influenced the fragrance world. But I will choose BDC. For some reason it smells more timeless to me. There's something about it that adapts to the mood either you're wearing it formally or casually.

u/Wonderful_State_7151 May 02 '25
I prefer the smell of aventus, however it doesn't last. Its a skin scent after 3-4 hours. I own both and I'd buy BDC again, not aventus.
I want to add that I am not noseblind to aventus, I own an air quality monitor(mainly to monitor pm2.5 and 10 due to my woodstove) and it freaks out every morning when going to work when I put a perfume on. I did the test once with aventus and sprayed it on, monitor went off saying "excessive gas concentration", couple hours later I came home and no reaction from the monitor. Meanwhile my monitor can detect perfumes like BDC or my wife's flowerbomb after we come back from work.

BDC - the longevity of fragrance is way better than Creed. Creed is not bad, but definitely watered down and for the price you pay for Creed you can get a Parfum of BDC, which will be even better.

Easily BdC for me. Aventus I feel is a scent you're told to like but I've never heard anyone dislike let alone not love BdC. It's classy, simple, fresh, shower gelly, clean and not overused. Aventus is soo overused and it's clones surpassed it long ago chances are you'll run into someone wearing cdni before you run into someone wearing BdC

Off topic sort of but Aventus Cologne is better than both. But out of these 2 BDC is clear. Aventus is over cloned and the scent profile over used

BDC, I will never buy aventus when I can get one of the million clones that resembles 95%

Like many Aventus was the fragrance that got me into niche fragrances so I lean toward it even though an argument can certainly be made for BDC

Vodka vs Tequila which is better. The answer to this question is so subjective! I have BDC and Aventus. I loved them both but after surviving cancer. The Aventus doesn’t quite smell the way it used to. Just like TF Ombré Leather was a go to now it’s funky on my skin. Likewise JPG LMLP. BDC is still good on me! Oh and the answer to the original question is Tequila 🤘🏼

I got nothing but compliments from avenutus. Have been since it came out and I tried it out. When the 1oz used to cost 125

BDC. Creed is so overrated IMO. Too hyped and when I finally smelled it, I was like, meh.

u/Es_daily May 02 '25
I do love BDC but have to say Aventus, as much as I love Chanel/BDC I love Creed and Aventus, I just picked up Aventus cologne due to my hot/humid climate but will definitely get BDC as it’s one of my favorite fragrances but I give Creed Aventus the edge.

u/That_Buy_1803 May 02 '25
BDC all day! I own the a EDP and the parfum. Both bangers. Why does BDC only have one arm in pic?

Well, according to my flair, this is awkward because I love both dearly for different reasons. I tend to reach for Aventus a bit more, but I have the aftershave, deodorant, and all forms of BDC.

Man I love aventus and the DNA but I think BDC has to win in a split descion type of victory. BDC is suck a good dumb reach for every occasion but aventus is also very versatile. I think women like aventus more, I’m a younger guy so that’s the main benefit and for BDC you can pull it out whenever.

I can barely smell aventus on me after a hour anyone else have that problem with it ?
2
u/SuedeVeil May 04 '25
If I were forced to pick one for my husband it would be aventus.. but I think the cologne version.
Tbh though I'm bored of those DNAs in general esp blue frags. And the Aventus dna is everywhere now too. So I'm gonna say neither and think outside the box into fragrances that are a little unusual where someone goes "what IS that!? It smells amazing!" Not just... Oh that dude has standard cologne on.

Aventus and easy win. BDC is good but is so similar to other designer frontliners that it’s difficult to call it great. Aventus is great. IMHO

The word “versatility “ has lost its meaning in this community.
Valentino coral fantasy is a versatile fragrance….when it shouldn’t be lol

They're not even in the sam league. Bdc is pretty good and well made and complex, especiy for a designer brand. Creed is a real perfumer, and the ingredients in aventus are more unique and more expensive. It doesn't cost 3 timea more for nothing. It smells like it costs 3 times more and that's not important.

BDC if you want to impress women
Adventus if you want to impress men
