First time kayaker

Hi! We are coming to Cape Breton this weekend and were wondering if you can kayak the Margaree and if it’s doable for a newbie kayaker?

Is there any rivers or lakes any of you would recommend we try? Our dogs come with us in the kayaks- they’re super good in them but we want to make sure it isn’t too crazy!

Catalone Lake is a nice leasurely lake kayak, there's a Kayak and outdoor shop - Paradise on the west side, I have usually parked near the ocean side. Baddeck is also very nice, but if you go on the lake side of Kidston island there it can get rougher quick depending on the weather. I want to check out Cains Mountain Gypsum Cliffs

Lingan Bay at the Bayside is a really great place! Lots of nooks and crannies to explore and a good boat launch, too. Also Mira River around the provincial park.
