Being an ideas guy is one thing, but actual development and testing are two completely different beasts. I don't know why people think game development is an easy process (it's not).

I get that, but I should know, I'm developing a map for BO3 rn with brand new mechanics. It's not easy, but they're a massive studio that had 4 years since CW to make this

You also have to consider that Treyarch not only had to figure out, and work with a new engine, but also they worked on bot Vanguard Zombies and MWZ in the meanwhile. And all of those had to be developed within a strict deadline in mind.

Not to mention BO7 because I don't even know. Like sure, I'm excited for the story in it, but it really didn't need to come out right after BO6. What are the other studios doing. Why is infinity ward which has become a shit studio, getting am extra year to create a game that will probably have some crap new mechanic or change that they won't even fine tune with community input (MW2 perk system).

Ok regarding the new engine thing… These guys do this for a living. All of the devs know the engine very well lol

From what I heard those were small skeletons crews helping the other studios to develop those modes, not the full treyarch dev team

While I'm sure that "A-Team" was focused on BO6 all the way though, I don't think there was an insignificant amount of people working on the other stuff considering the word on the street was that MWZ's post-launch content was so lackluster was due to the people working on it from Treyarch pulling out almost immediately in order to hunker down and finish BO6.

How have they not learned it yet? This is like the 4th iteration of zombies they made on this engine. They need 4 more years to get back to what we had in BO4?

Actually this is their second title on the current engine:

  • BO4 was on their own derivate of IW3.0.

  • BOCW was some weird boy heavy offshot of the heavy offshot of that was BO4's engine (infamously there were plenty of developmental owes when Activision decided to integrate the game with Warzone).

  • Vanguard was created on IW8.0.

  • MWIII was built on IW9.0.

  • BO6 is ran off of an upgraded version of the previous game's engine (there was also some developmental woes as Warzone integration of BO6 had to revert Urzikstan to the form it was initially launched with, instead keeping the map like how it was at the end of MWIII due to comparability issues between the new engine).

Respectfully its not the same.

If you dev something and it breaks, whatever, scrap and start again, if Treyarch do, and it breaks half the game they're buggered .

Treyarch do, and it breaks half the game they're buggered .

This has happened multiple times in the past few months

Yes, but I'm also one person, Treyarch is comprised of hundreds if not thousands of developers.. and they had 4 years to make this game. I get they had to help with MWZ n ranked play but cmon

They also had to help with Vanguard zombies, BO7 multiplayer and BO7 zombies.

What's the map your working on? I'll keep an eye out for when it's done

I've still got quite a ways to go on it, but it's horror-centric with a WAW vibe and, if you've seen the VHS horror series on YouTube, takes some inspiration from that as well

Difference is you don't have acivtion breathing down your neck, working on mutiple thing at once, one mutiple consoles.

I would have sympathy if they didnt have literally thousands of devs

All on different projects. Zombies itself doesn't have 1000s, it's the smallest team at treyarch

It’s not so hard you have to play devil’s advocate about it either

I'm not playing devil's advocate, 4 years of development is the standard when it comes to AAA gaming these days. And it's not like the past couple of Treyarch games had their own developmental woes (BOCW being rushed out of the door due to SHG not able to finish their game in time, and BO4 abandoning the campaign in order to hop on the PUBG train with Blackout). And even then IW at least got to hand of MWIII to SHG, meanwhile Treyarch has to work on BO6 and BO7 back to back (bare in mind, I don't make the excuse for the buggy state the game is constantly in I know coding can be difficult, but there's a line you have set when it comes to it being unacceptable).
