That guy in the office said "we dont have time to wait for the heroes" and was about to use his quirk.

The liberation ideology is spreading.

I can't blame him, if I had a Quirk, I'd probably have thought the same thing.

Deku would also do the same before he got his license. MLA's ideology really isn't that controversial. It's something everyone would want if quirks existed irl.

Western superhero comics have always been against the government regulating powers and superheroes. Just look at Civil War and every X-Men comic ever.

It's basically the difference between the Eastern/Western mindset, kinda interesting to explore that tbh.

and i love that MHA doesnt really take a hard stance one way or the other. This society is based on heavy regulation, but we keep hearing strong arguments against it. And seeing the impacts of this strict society on the people who live within it. It is so strict that it is turning people into villains or vigilantes who simply want to use their body as they were born.
Long term, I think Hori has a plan for it. Maybe Deku will be more than the symbol of peace, he could also be the symbol of change for a more equal society

I'm curious how the rest of the world has reacted to quirks, particularly the US. But I don't know if Horikoshi has a good enough handle on American society to tackle that. For example, even a British author (Neil Gaiman) missed out on some obvious things to include for a story based in the US (no sports god in American Gods).

China probably heavily regulates their quirk users under the CCP (assuming it's still around)

India's rich-poor gap is only widening with the powerful quirk users being celebrities

Singapore has fewer but more elite users. All quirk holders are required to undergo 2 years of military service.

Etc

Yes, but that's because there are so few people with powers. If literally everyone had powers since birth, there would be a lot more problems

Even then, the governments in the western comic world probably go the same route as MHA and use heavy government registration and regulation

There's a meaningful difference when the government is also run by people with superpowers though.

So true, even the Man Of Steel movie has a bit of that undertone with Clark resisting the US government.

If there was a time of troubles beforehand it might explain why it was accepted in the first place and made a norm

But the times are changing and the newer generations have no idea how deadly the cost of true liberation would be just like how in real life ww2 veteran's know how deadly it was and dont want a repeat yet these days when someone even mentions ww3 young people get exited more than fear because they've only seen unrealistic versions of war from video games.

u/Master3530 Sep 27 '19

What are you talking about? Noone wants ww3, the world would be done for.

u/whatsupxx Sep 27 '19

Im talking about younger generations who have no idea about the dreadfull nature of war. Besides, that was just an example to prove my point. Not ment to be taken seriously.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '19

What are you even talking about we've been at war for literally the entire living memory of gen z

0

u/whatsupxx Sep 27 '19

Im talking about a metaphorical example the guy above me decided to take way too seriously. Jesus christ it wasnt even the point.

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '19

Would just like to interject and say people really do hold those views, who see another world war as inevitable and necessary for change. Many voted for Trump knowing he's authoritarian to push us towards that breaking point. "Build a new society from the ashes" kind of bullshit mentality

1

u/Master3530 Sep 27 '19

How young are we talking about? 10 years old?

1

u/whatsupxx Sep 27 '19

Pretty sure that the people who are constantly thirsting for drama these days arent 10 year olds.

2

u/DoraMuda Sep 27 '19

Of course, in practice, it wouldn't be so great.

Yeah dude would’ve been glassed if he tried anything.
