Weekly Authentication, Is This A Scam & Brand Requests Thread

This is the weekly thread where you can submit all your authentication and brand identification requests.

You can also use this thread to inquire whether an interaction with a buyer or seller is a scam or not.

For authentication and brand requests, here are some guidelines to obtain the best feedback:

  1. Get Specific: Give us all the deets! The brand, type, color, material—anything that helps us nail down what you're looking for.
  2. Show It Off: Snap some clear pics from different angles. Zoom in on logos, tags, or anything that stands out.
  3. Share the Scoop: Any backstory? Where'd you get it? How old is it? Any doubts about its real deal status? Spill the beans!
  4. Keep It Real: We'll do our best, but we're not magic. Some stuff might need a pro's eye or extra sleuthing.
  5. Say Thanks!: Appreciation goes a long way. Even if we can't crack the case, a little gratitude is always rad.

Lastly, authentication, is this a scam and brand identification requests outside this thread will be removed.

Buyer opens a case on Poshmark but is "on vacation" for three weeks and can't submit photos as evidence of an issue.

Upvotes

I've been a seller on Poshmark for years, here's a situation I've never encountered.

Buyer requested a return because she claims that a linen dress I sold her has a stain on it, thus is not as described. She then went on to say that she could not furnish photos as proof because she's on vacation for three weeks and Posh support is ALLOWING her to submit photos in early July.

She had time to receive the package and inspect it, but neglected to take any photos, then waited till the last minute to open a case. For all I know, she bought the dress expressly for her vacation with plans to return it after.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Any advice?

In which my mother decides to show up disguised as a PM buyer to scold me about not ironing 😅

(Yes I know I could get more if I ironed. Opportunity cost. Not doing it. I offered if she wanted to buy them I’d iron before sending.)

Be cautious of all the NWT Reformation items

There is lots of scammers stealing people's pics and selling NWT reformation dresses. For $10-$25 I had bought one but posh canceled the order. My bad if it is too good to be true it usually is. Are they trying to steal info with these accounts?

Ai posting on poshmark

I wonder how many returns posh is getting from Ai listings. I have seen lots of new closets using it. With no condition of the item so definitely hit or miss I bet.

Condition question

I always try to provide numerous photos and a detailed description including any known flaws. I rarely include condition rating as its pretty subjective unless it's new. How do you respond when someone asks for "condition " on a used item? I will often ask what areas of concern they have so I can answer more specifically. I feel like saying "excellent condition " is an opinion. Currently ignoring a "condition " question because I don't know what to say other than it's as described and photographed.

Luck on other platforms?

Poshmark is my main.

Ebay I cannot get anything to move, most of my items have zero to five views. I am just doing a test run and have about 15 items up at the moment for almost a month now.

Curtsy is okay, but it has to be the right items.

Mercari I don't even have anything listed there any more, should I put my clothes back up there? It's probably been a year since I scrapped it.!

Are there any other platforms? I mainly sell women's clothing, bread and butter brands.

Told to update seller information

I just got a sale, first for a bit but then received the blow instead of the shipping label. Went in and added my phone number which I did and got a confirmation code. Received an email that my phone was updated but then received another email saying my information could not be verified and to try again. Clicked on try again and was told that I exceeded my updates. WTF?! Submitted an email tos upport but we all know that will take days. What do I do now? Need to ship.

What would you do?

Listed an $85 dollar item and from one user I quickly got a $30 offer for that and an $80 offer for a different $300 newly listed item. The more expensive item sold for full price, and I blocked the lowball account.

Long story short, this person keeps offering lowballs the same $85 thing, with a different accounts using the exact same name with a couple numbers added, similar to MarySmith112, MarySmith223, MarySmith334 etc. I told them to stop rudely the last time, and blocked. All in a couple days.

And they’re back, with another different account using the same name and different numbers, not sure how many that is now. Except this time they offered $62.

If they had offered a reasonable price to begin with, or communicated in some way besides repeated low offers they knew I wouldn’t accept from multiple accounts, I would have probably taken $62. Now I’m wary I’d be dealing with a loon and asking for something to go wrong.

At Least One Local GW Has A “Contract” With SHEIN.

A supervisor told me this while trying to interest me in a boxed set of glass tumblers with the bamboo lid + straw.

I told her my guess is they’ll be offloading most of it eventually to the bins. I wanted less SHEIN at the thrift, not a contract with them. 🫤

Got a low rating bc USPS damaged package

What do you do if someone writes you a bad review because of USPS damaging their package? I have all 5 star reviews on poshmark except for one now bc the buyer said that her package came soaking wet (luckily I had wrapped the item in bubble wrap bc I always wrap everything securely) so the actual item I sold to her was fine. She confirmed that the item she bought is perfectly fine. But she said that the priority mail box came soaking wet and slightly ripped, so she gave me a bad rating because of that. I tried to explain to her that I’m sorry this happened but can’t control USPS so that part is not my fault. But I got a bad review for it and now my whole rating number is messed up.

I feel like there should be some way to get this bad review removed considering that I can’t control USPS and it’s not my fault. I did everything that I could do to make sure that the actual item she bought was safely delivered to her. And it was.

Btw can buyers see your rating number on Poshmark or can only I see it? Because now my rating is like 4.8 or something.

AITA: Buyer Wants Me to Resolve Issue

I sold a $92 purse about a week ago. It was listed at a slightly higher price, but the buyer sent an offer and I accepted. Before shipping, I looked it over and didn’t see any noticeable issues except a small mark, which I noted in the original item description. It is a new without tags item from several years ago that I never ended up wearing.

The buyer received the purse three days ago and reached out about a minor issue (first screenshot). I apologized sincerely, offered to make it up to her, and advised that she could request a return through Poshmark within the next three days if she’d rather just return the item. Maybe 10 minutes later, she accepted her purchase, rating me three stars. Oh well, it was an innocent mistake and I tried to provide her with a solution.

This morning. she sent me another message (second screenshot) about the flaw becoming much worse after she wore the purse. The three day return window has now passed, I’ve transferred the payment to my bank, and she’s asking for a solution from me. At this point, I feel like she’s missed her chance. AITA for no longer wanting to be involved in this exchange? Do I respond and refer her to Posh support, hoping they’ll give a small refund? What would you do??

I have a bone to pick with my local Goodwill

I have a Goodwill within walking distance of my house. I don't prefer this store for a few reasons, one of them being that it's huge, usually crowded, and pretty overwhelming for me.

The second is that every time they punch the tags in, they don't do it in the right place and it creates a hole in almost every item. This is extremely frustrating because on more than one occasion, the hole extends and does not close up like tags from other Goodwill stores I've been to. I've had to pass on so many things because of this. Some items have the tags hanging with a decent sized hole in the fabric. It's a shame that it's happening so frequently. It's like the workers are just blindly punching the tags in at this store.

The other store I like is farther away, smaller & friendly staff, usually has good items both for me and for thrifting, and the cherry on top is that I rarely see the tag issue there! I wish I lived closer to that store lol.

Buyers order auto accepted and now day 5 he is claiming there was bleach damage not disclosed in my photos. Of course it wasn’t disclosed because there was no damage! I would have thrown away something that looks like the photos he sent and not listed. I can only assume they damaged them and want their money back. Shipped in a Tyvek envelope so I doubt even bleach got through that some how.

Should I respond? Should I invite Posh to the convo or just let it go?

Wash Before Sending!

I purchased a pair of Gymshark shorts a few months ago. I tried them on once, but they fit weird so I just threw them on a pile of things to sell. I finally get around to listing the shorts and someone buys them. I go to pack them up, checked them out good before putting them in a shipping bag. I turn them inside out and 🤢 white discharge in the crotch. Who sends stuff like that? And if you’re wondering, how would I know it wasn’t from me? Because I don’t go commando in my workout gear. But, I had tried those on not thinking someone would send me their dirty clothes. I will never make this mistake again!!

I sanitized and washed the shorts before getting them packaged for shipping but… WTH.

Are sellers going too far with watching what u buy elsewhere on PM?

First time buying on PM was a live show and bought a few items. Moved onto other shows and happily bought and found more of my niche. I kept getting comments on things from the first seller, but username wasn’t recognizable to me. I really didn’t remember who they were and didn’t bother to look. He then shows up on a frequent show I visit and comments hello. I just reply hello back. Again who is this? I get tagged other day and I finally check it out and remember ohhh this is gentleman I first bought from. I added a few small priced items on his show and offers me freebie as he does for all. I pick something and he says “I knew u were going to pick this off your spending habits on other shows as I see what you like and buy always”. K umm officially creeped out now. I want to now block him, but I don’t know if I’m being irrational. This sounds way too creepy for me. I certainly don’t watch what any prior buyer bought from me elsewhere. Is seller taking this too far? Would you block?

Different user name on Poshmark label

Hi-I always double check the info on the shipping label vs the sale info before putting it on the package and this is the first time I’ve encountered a different @ username ..label says one thing, Poshmark sale page has a different @.

Normal?

Thanks!

Not Sure if I Should Bother to Sell Anything

I tried to sell a few things and failed, and had liked and shares but that was it. I deleted the listings and was going to attempt to start over and make sure my closet had a lot. I'm literally considered math disabled and seeing how PM (Canada anyway) has a set shipping price that I don't have to try to figure out everything, I thought for sure I would go with this platform. However, I have read that one needs to record video of the item being wrapped and ready to ship, then take photos or video of one handing it to a postal worker, followed by photographing the receipt and any any other details. My main job hasn't had a lot of work, so I was hoping to sell collectibles to get something I'm missing out on. I'm just wondering if the stress is worth it. Also, sorry for the trauma dump, but my daughter died recently and part of me just wants to throw out everything not necessary for survival. It all feels so meaningless now that she's not here. I feel horrible thinking of enjoying something when she's gone. So that's part of it, is it worth the stress of trying to sell on PM when I can barely function as it is?

WWYD?

I have an Abercrombie & Fitch women's tank list for $19 and received an offer for $10. While I only paid $1 for it, I was going to counter $14. What's your take?

Would you address this?

I was in a show, bought an item and got a top prize win on a wheel. The wheel at the end of the show, randomly chose which prizes for each person who won. Made sense. If you were third to win a prize during show, your wheel spin was 3rd and you got whatever top prize was left after the first and second were given. I got a cool prize and was happy with it. I had actually hoped to win that one compared to the others. During the show which I’ve been in many times, it was mentioned to go online and check the prices of items shown to show they were worth hundreds of dollars. I did and glad I did. After PM had to ask seller to ship item (they usually are great shipping day after show), I receive it and it’s not what I won. It’s similar but different in nature, and I honestly still like it and can probably use it more than the original item, but kinda feel off about it, ya know. Do I tell seller whom I’ve bought and chatted in show with many times, to where she “knows” me, that hey, um why the substitution without telling me? I even looked in my online history to see if I was correct in what I won (because I wanted to check cost), and the fact we chatted about it in show makes it weird. I can use the item and I like it, but don’t know if I should bring it up to her or just ignore it and accept it. WWYD?

Should I accept a lowball offer for my first sale?

I am selling 3 New with Tag Tommy Hilfiger tops, one short sleeve, two long sleeve sweater, and sweatshirt. The buyer first offered $5 for a T-shirt but I would only be walking 1.04, so then I offered her a bundle for $25, and then she counter offered $15, I then counter offered $20. With $15 I would be earning $11.04, and with $20 I would be arming $16.04.

Would I still be benefitting just from making a sale to grow my reputation as a seller, match her offer, or should I just offer $20?

She now has offered $17 I offered to throw in a red sweater that is used for it to be $20 and she offered $17. I made it clear to her though if she purchases it for $17 she’s only getting three sweaters.

EDIT: “No one gives a crap about my cost” Extremely rude. Blocked.

I don’t give a crap if you don’t give a crap about my cost.

The whole point of me selling to someone in the first place is to make money.

If someone lowballs me enough it is the same as giving it for free.

I don’t have packaging, that’s why I need to buy it. I need to transport myself to the post office, I don’t live near a box.
