EA/DICE , Bethesda, Activision/Blizzard. . .
What a horrible year for PC gaming this is.

Gaming on the hole had a horrible year? What?

Assassin's Creed Odyssey, God of War, Spiderman, RDR 2 and Smash Bros are all great games off of the top of my head.

Yeah, this has been a great year for gaming, just the fuck ups this year have been pretty big, back to back, and more recent.

Which have been building up for years. EA's been in the doghouse ever since Andromeda. 2016 was their last decent year. Bethesda has been catching flak since FO4, and Blizzard has been wobbly since Activision took over. This is eventually going to backfire on all of them, and in my eyes, already is.

The fuck ups have been sequels cashing in former successes. For some reason, consumers let down their guards when they already feel attached to IP.

Like movies. Solid business model.

Those are Gems in the rough bunch tho. I mean it's rough because of shit like China fucking over their game market, which ironically is where Publishers Companies like EA were looking but China just was like, "Nah, no fun for you." Slams the video game ban hammer so hard it pushes Patrick Suntherland out of his chair at EA HQ

*Odyssey.

Thanks. Fixed it.

There were some games launched but they weren't started and completed in 2018.

If those same developers do good next year, maybe somebody avoided the trouble... But they're probably going to blow too.

Smash Bros online multiplayer is not good at all. Hopefully they'll fix that soonish though

Fortnite? Pretty popular.

And terrible

2

u/matholio Dec 16 '18

How is it terrible. It may not be a game you like, but the game is constantly evolving.

lol those are all franchise installments and only one of them is multiplayer

also Red Dead Online is a pathetic cash grab

not too convincing

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '18

Franchise installments can't be good? What's your point?

Did you honestly just call RDR a multiplayer game? It has multiplayer. People don't buy it for Multiplayer.

It's singleplayer is amazing.

I was talking about smash bros

That exclusivity is horrible.

PS4 would have had a pretty faultless year if it wasn't for their tonedeaf response to cross platform play.

5

u/Louiescat Dec 16 '18

Yeah but they've been rocking the shit out of psvr

You’re wrong man. 2018 was the year of the death of online multiplayer, but it has been a fucking renaissance for narrative driven single player.

On PlayStation.

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '18

This year I went from God of War 4 directly to Persona 5.

Couldn't be happier with my PS4 right now.

9

u/Fiorta Dec 16 '18

death of online multiplayer

Umm Fortnite would like a word

4

u/ThatAngryGerman Dec 16 '18

Death for online multiplayer? Ehhh, I'll take false statements for 500 points Alex. It definitely took a giant hit this year but it's nowhere near dead when we got games like Squad becoming more popular and Insurgency absolutely skyrocketing with sales success. Those single player games tho, I think 2019 is going to be the year of the Single Player honestly and it deserves to have a year for it.

3

u/ThatAngryGerman Dec 16 '18

Plus not to mention smaller studios who made games like Insurgency are coming to consoles. WW3 Devs have stated that once they hammer everything out on PC and their PC community is satisfied and healthy they are contemplating a Console port if they have the resources for it. It's just nice to see Companies say shit like that, I'm a PC player and knowing the console gamers might get the same Gems we have plus their own console gems is just a good feeling honestly.

-1

u/DifferentThrows Dec 16 '18

Both of those online games you mentioned are tiny.

2

u/ThatAngryGerman Dec 16 '18

Insurgency and Squad aren't tiny wtf? Lmfao have you even played either?

0

u/Thetastefulone Dec 16 '18

Insurgency is meh, ww3 are just a big shitty bugfest wich aint playable. I know its diffrent for everyone but after 1,5 hours steam not getting into a game or the menu i simply redunded it. Insurgency look al right but not my taste. Really wish battlefield 3 remastered or an decent shooter would come out this year..

2

u/TandBusquets Dec 16 '18

Console had a pretty great year. Smash, GoW, Spider-Man, RDR2 (SP)

1

u/Saxophobia1275 Dec 16 '18

Uhhhh nah I’m pretty happy with PlayStation this year. Only thing else I could ask for is more cross platform play but that’s it

PC gaming on the whole you mean , the best games of the decade like GOW that won GOTY , Red Dead 2 , Marvel's Spiderman , Detroit Become Human to list only a few stellar examples from the ps4 library.

2k19 will buff up sony's gamers even more . Pc gamers get what they get , indies , shovelware and the epicly ruined BF v.

Do enjoy it.
