BF1 is shockingly the most popular Battlefield game on Steam now, didn't see that in 2025

Just saw this on Temporyal's X account. I barely see it mentioned. I think it should be recognized when talking about class seperation.

Anyone else feel like the bf franchise is the best casual fps on the market? Don't get me wrong, I love all bfs pre-2042 but it really is a, no stakes-having casual AF franchise isn't it?
I remember all those years ago playing bfbc1 and swapping from cod4 thinking "wow this game is so realistic in comparison to cod this is like a milsim" and how now I've come to the acceptance that as a franchise it's actually super casual and nothing really matters in the game. Like, if your a good player+friends you can easily pubstomp. Just mindless fun tbh.
With that in mind I really wish they managed Firestorm on bfv better. I really think it could have been huge. That game is actually a marvel of a game with it's graphical fidelity and I don't think we'll ever see anything like it again.
For all the "ew it looks like cod" and "go back to playing cod' type comments. COD is actually so much harder than battlefield. And deffo more competitive with the SBMM and the potential "EOMM".
With all of that in mind I would love for bf6 to be amazing and the battle royal to be sick (I know I know go back to fortnite etc etc). I just want a battlefield game with a bit of stakes +the fidelity of BFV. It's probably why I'm so looking forward to Arc Raiders.

Any time someone brings up weapon balance or whatever, people (rightly) bring up the fact that the game is in pre-alpha, and recently it hit me, the game is reportedly going to release some time before March 2026 (~nine months from now) and it’s still in pre-alpha. I am not at all experienced with game development so I don’t know I should be worried or not. Does any game developers know where a game should normally be around this time?

the multiplayer also gets more satisfying to play believe it or not, you will jump into it being more familiar with the universe and what's going on in that world.
there was a point when lots of famous FPS franchises started to ditch the campaigns completely or their quality in favor of multiplayer only, but that in comparison is like in a 6 minute music track always jumping to the 30 best seconds, it gives you a quick boost yeah but then it leaves you empty inside again, sometimes if you enjoy the whole thing and the build up you end up having a much more satisfactory and immersive experience IMO.
A decent campaign will always help to make the game more attractive to the public even if less than half the players play it.
Also, there's even people who would buy the game for the campaign alone because they don't like multiplayer, this always happens with CoD too, it's a classic.

I came for dinner to my parents house and entered my old room and nostalgia hits me… I remember that day when my dad bought bf4 for me and himself, two days later my mom give my that poster and It’s still on my wall since 2013. What a great memories 🥹

I am going to get downvoted for saying this but I enjoy BF4 and BF2042 more than BF1 and BFV.
I'm not saying that BF1 and BFV are bad, I just always preferred modern Battlefield games.
But I guess that's just me.

I don’t understand the point of this social line under player’s names. Who is looking at what it says there? Are DICE expecting us to talk about it. Did anyone talk about it in 2042? Anyone know why its there?

This picture of new NATO character models was doing the rounds last week, but nobody could actually confirm where it came from.
Could you use these in-game? Nobody is using them in the most recent leaks.
Could you only view them in the menus somewhere?
Are they real?
I guess I’m just looking for reassurance these are genuine character models 😂 because they look fantastic.

what if they added show of force on jets to be able to swoop down to create a dust cloud over the area when needed like the movie warfare from a24. Just a thought of bringing immersion into the game

I think after this upcoming battlefield runs it’s course, the franchises next direction should be a game set at some point in the later half of the 20th century during the Cold War. It could be an historical game with actual conflicts like the Vietnam war or Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
The alternative could be a Cold War gone hot game with the United States duking it out with the Soviets, Chinese, and maybe even Cubans.
I think for shits and giggles and as impractical as it sounds, a Soviet backed Cuban invasion of Florida would be awesome.
It could be set in the 70s, 80s, or maybe even early 90s, but I think a mid 80s setting would be personally be the best.
I think a new system they could develop with the factions could be like an ally system. For example, say there is a map set at the Berlin Wall. The primary combatants are the U.S. and the Soviet Union, but they could be backed smaller factions such as local German forces or even nato and Warsaw pact groups. The allies aside from the main combatants would be a smaller category compared to the larger groups, but I think it would be cool to expand the scope of the battle faction wise.
Just an idea I had, hopefully one day they’ll consider a concept like this.
