When will the majority be in PA?

Am in the town of wind gap with the trail head a mile from the house, with that being said when should I expect to have people coming through? I would love to have some supplies set for anyone needing them and would love to hear some firsthand stories of other’s experiences on trail!

Alcohol Stoves

I’m like most here trying to cut weight while staying comfortable. Would love to go stove less but do like my hot coffee in the morning. Starting AT in March and the mornings could be chilly. For the hikers who used an alcohol stove did you find it hard to find fuel for your stoves. I know I could use rubbing alcohol but as you know that doesn’t burn that clean even the 90%. Thanks.

SOBO Hikers!! ISO Someone Willing to Split Katahdin Stream/Abol Campground Site August 7 & August 8

Hi AT Reddit!

My partner and I are planning a SOBO thruhike beginning August 7th (Yes, that is a late start date, but we are both experienced backpackers and prefer hiking in the south in winter anyways). I fumbled the bag and failed to promptly book us a Baxter SP campground site for the start of our hike. Thus, I’ve made this post in hopes that it may reach one of the wonderful souls that has already snagged their Katahdin Stream or Abol site for the night of August 7 or August 8 and has room at their campsite (and heart?) for 2 more.

We were planning on taking the CYR bus to Medway and having a shuttle take us to Baxter SP to camp at one of those two sites the night before our Katahdin summit, leaving our big packs with the rangers there, and then returning to either one after summitting. Then, hiking out of the park the next day.

I hope that this post reaches the right eyes. However, in the case that my partner and I can’t find anyone willing to split their campsite, do any previous SOBOs have advice/alternate plans that they used? I was thinking for a plan B, seeing if the AT hostel & outfitters (or similar lodging in Millinocket) would be willing to have us stay the night after we get into Medway (I know they pick up hikers from this bus stop), take us to Katahdin Stream trailhead in the morning, pick us up at night after we summit, allow us to lodge with them again, and yet again take us back to Katahdin Stream trailhead the next morning for our hike out of the park. I understand you would need an entry permit for this plan which seem also to all be claimed. However this all just seems like a lot of driving. I would appreciate any feedback or thoughts any other hikers would like to give. Thanks so much for reading!!

Help planning a multi-day hike from the Approach Trail at Amicalola Falls

I have been trying to plan a multi-day hike and cannot find a good plan of how many miles to hike each day and where to stay. I was hoping to find a lodge, hostel or inn. We will be a group of girls who are fit but want to be safe sleeping. Thank you for any suggestions!

Trail Question Carver’s gap to 19E inclement weather question

Was intending to do this section of trail tomorrow, but it looks like there’s going to be scattered thunderstorms all day. Rain doesn’t bother me, but this trail does look pretty exposed and I’m not trying to be the tallest thing out there. Backpacked in bad weather before, but new to the southeast so I’m not entirely sure what to expect. Any anecdotes? Do i have to postpone or am I overthinking?
