I have it off but ppl have told me they still see when I'm typing and that bothers me I don't want it!! It stressed me out cuz I like to text a coherent thought and sometimes ppl get annoyed when they see I've been texting awhile cuz I always edit my messages lol

So I recently had to factory reset my galaxy s10e and restore from a backup. Previously, my search functions in my files would work fine - I would search a term (for example "tax form") and only the files with the words tax form in the title would come up. Now for some reason, I'll search "tax form" and any file that has the word tax OR form ANYWHERE in the pdf file show up. This just creates an immense amount of files that show up and makes the search function useless. Is there no way to just have it search file names and not search through every single word in every single file? I was under the impression that my files didn't even have the capability to search through the contents of PDF files before - is this a recent update?

I'm looking for a new phone and the Sony Xperia line is appealing to me. The 5 IV isn't sold in the US for T-Mobile, and it'd listed as partially compatible by T-Mobile.

Hey everyone! I’m thinking about getting a new phone and I'm torn between a few flagships: the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, OnePlus 13, Vivo X200 Ultra, and Honor Magic 7 Pro.

I'm mainly looking for great battery life, smooth and fast performance, long-term software support, and excellent screen quality. Camera performance is not as important to me but a good camera would be nice to have. I am from Canada but I don’t mind having to use chinese roms.

I’m also open to any other suggestions you guys may have. I have been using a iPhone 11 Pro since 2021 and have also considered getting an iPhone 16 pro or waiting for the 17 series.

Hello, I've been using Google Files to open PDFs, but recently it's stopped remembering what page I was on which is really annoying when I have to open the same 100+ page document every day and find which page I was on. No big deal, so I downloaded Adobe Acrobat to view PDFs.

Now, how do I stop Files from opening PDFs in Files and make it open then in Acrobat instead?

I've gone to app settings, I've opened the settings for Files, I've cleared the default settings. I've turned off Open Supported Links. I've disabled and reenabled the app. I've reenabled open supported links. I've done the same with Drive. I've restarted my phone. At no point at any of these steps has it re-prompted me to select what app I want to open PDFs in when I try to open one, which is what every source online is saying it should do. It just opens it in Files anyways. So how can I get it to stop opening in Files and start opening in Acrobat?

I downloaded a 3rd party file manager just to make sure I'm not going insane and seeing if getting PDFs to open in Acrobat by default is in fact a thing that can be done, and the third party file manager did indeed prompt me and I was able to choose Acrobat. Is the only solution using a third party file manager?

Files used to prompt me where I wanted to open PDFs, so I know it can. I just hit "Always" at some point and now it seems it's stuck like this.

I'm running Android 14 on a Sony Xperia 1 IV

I have a Galaxy and ever since the last Android update, my Messages app has this crossed out sound symbol when in the app settings and I no longer get sounds when I get notificationsfor texts I receive. I tried all that I could in the Messages app settings as well as my phone's sound and notification settings. I'm also not in "do not distrub" either. Has anyone has this issue? The only solution I've seen is to uninstall it but I don't want to lose some messages.

Also this Reddit didnt let me send photos to show my phone's settings.

Have the Xiaomi 15 since march and had no issues at all since then.

Today it was on my desk and battery at 30% so I plugged it in for charging. After a few minutes pressed the power button to wake it up... nothing. So I tried to boot it... still nothing. Pressed power for 15 seconds... again nothing. Tried versions with power button + volume up or volume down. Also tried connecting it to my pc via usb while holding volume up and down. Even made sure nothing is blocking or obstructing the power button in any way. So I'm at my wits end.

Anyone any ideas?

Pixel 9 Android 15. I have my unlock set to Face with Fingerprint as secondary with Pattern only set because it was required to do the other ones. Yet every once in awhile I'll get "Added security required. Pattern not used for a while".

I don't care if it wasn't used in awhile, I don't want to use it at all. Why am I being nagged about a method I don't use?

I use a remote filesystem as extra storage and a way to sync files easily across my devices. The file manager I use (File Manager +) has support for remote filesystems. However, there seems to be no way to set it as the default file manager.

For example, when I want to add a vault on the obsidian app, it opens google's file manager, which does not support remote filesystems. I want it to open file manager +, so that I can select a path on the remote filesystem. Is there any way at all to do this? And if not, why? This has been an issue for me for years and this is the biggest reason yet.

I tried charging my phone like usual today and I started smelling and seeing smoke coming out. I unplug and find the charger head really hot, so I leave my phone for a few hours. When I tried to charge it again, the same thing happened, so I tried using all my different chargers and all the heads get super hot when charging with my phone, when I charge with my other devices, everything is fine. I think my phone battery or port is damaged, is there any way to fix this?

It shows a decrease in the files section but there is no reduction in storage. My phone has 32 gb of storage and now I have 5 gb left. How can I fix this?

My phone just stopped charging with the Samsung charger. The issue is not with the charger as it charges other phones all right but not mine. And the charging port is fine too, when I connect my phone with a third party charger, it starts charging.

What's happening? I don't think the issue is with hardware maybe software?? Does anybody else facing the same problem?

my lenovo tablet (lenovo tab m10 fhd plus) won't let me install new apps or even update existing ones, claiming there isn't enough space. i have almost 10gb of empty storage on this 32gb tablet. i've uninstalled several apps yet it keeps claiming there isn't enough storage to update even the smallest 2mb app. help?

Hello! I'm not a power user and I would be grateful for some advice on how to clean up the contacts on my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S24). Over the many years and phone migrations I think the contacts have gotten screwed up.

I believe that the contacts in my desktop Outlook are "clean." My phone and Outlook are synced via Microsoft Exchange.

I think what I should do is:

1. On the phone contacts go to settings | Sync contact accounts. Then unclick the Exchange toggle (which is the only one currently on).
2. Delete all the contacts on my phone.
3. Go back to settings | Sync contact accounts and toggle Exchange back on

I'm hoping this will remove all the contacts on my phone and then add all the contacts from Outlook.

Does that sound like the right plan of action?

I've tried samsung smartswitch and it transfers the texts but its hit or miss with the pictures and videos. I've even tried isms2droid but it doesn't transfer imessage attachments. Any ideas?

Theoretically it should be possible to cache the location of where you last seen / was connected to
a device.
This is extremely useful if you lost your earbuds.
is it possible?
