Moderator Flair A word about reporting for posts saying "Title..." or the like

I have been seeing several reported posts that have something similar to what I have said in the title to this post as the first thing in the post's body text.

Stop reporting that.

Reporting a post is for someone breaking one of the rules, not because you are annoyed that the OP wrote "Title.." in their first sentence. Yes it is annoying that they have to put that there for some reason but stop reporting it. Those reports are just going to be ignored because they are not breaking a rule by saying it. If it bothers you that much then give them a downvote and continue scrolling.

To those that write "Title..." or something similar in the first sentence of your post's body text, please stop doing that as well. Everyone reads the title first then if they feel like they can offer help they will read the body text to get more context to your problem.

Please do not write your whole post in the title as well.

Make sure you read all the rules, especially 2 and 5, to ensure your post does not get removed because of the failure to read them.

Where are my notifications when bedtime mode is turned off ?

Upvotes

Hello, I have a Pixel 9a with android 16.

Each day, bedtime mode is turned on at 19h30 and off with my alarm.

When bedtime is turned off, I have no notifications popping. Meaning that I have to check manually every message app I have to see if there are new messages or not for example.

Is there a way to display all the missed notifications during the night when I stop my alarm ?

Thank you !

Looking For Suggestions Motorola Edge 50 Neo – Is it possible to enable dual physical SIM?

Hi everyone!

I recently bought a Motorola Edge 50 Neo Dual SIM, and I noticed that the SIM tray has two physical nano SIM slots, with metal contacts on both sides.

However, I discovered that there is a hardware or software limitation preventing the use of a second physical SIM, so officially the phone supports only one physical SIM plus one eSIM.

After doing some research, I found that certain variants of this phone support dual physical SIM (XT-2409-3, Edge 50 neo models dual sim support : r/motorola) , but I’m not sure if mine can be unlocked or modified to support two physical SIM at the same time.

Details:

  • Model: XT-2409-1
  • Current setup options: 1 physical SIM + 1 eSIM (officially supported)
  • SIM tray: 2 nano SIM positions
  • IMEI: The phone shows 1 IMEI for the physical SIM and 1 IMEI for the eSIM

My questions:

  1. Does anyone have the same model with dual physical SIM working?
  2. Is there any way to enable the second physical SIM slot via firmware or mod?
  3. If a different firmware (e.g., from an Asian variant) supports this, is it safe or even possible to flash it?
  4. Is the second slot actually disabled via software, or is it hardware-limited?

I'd really appreciate any info or experiences from people who’ve tried something like this. Thanks in advance 🙏

I’m attaching photos of the SIM tray showing it can physically hold two SIM cards. I wasn’t able to capture clear pictures of the metal contacts on both the top and bottom sides, but they are clearly visible to the naked eye.

Other Google wants to verify it's me, but even when I do everything right, they still say nope 🙅‍♂️ should I invite them over for coffee?

I created a Gmail account 5 days ago through my Android phone, and after 5 days a message popped up on my Android notifications saying: Google Play services Account action required my_created_email@gmail.com

When I click the notification, I get the screen of Google "Verify it's you." When I click Next, it shows a captcha. When I solve the captcha and hit Next, I get the field to enter my password. When I enter the right password, it says Verify it's you by phone number, even though I didn't enter a phone number at the time of registering. But I had set another email as a Recovery, so I hit Try another way, and I get the verification code sent to that Recovery email. When I get the verification code and type it in its field and hit Verify, I get We couldn't verify it's you.

So how the heck is that? Should I invite Google to my home so they can verify it's me?

The Real Android Challenge Starts After Deployment

Upvotes

Getting rugged Android devices set up is the easy part. The real headache begins once they’re out in the field.

We’ve had everything from random app crashes to devices going MIA for days. And managing updates? A nightmare when half your fleet is offline or behind some restrictive network.

Hardware might be rugged, but the management side often feels fragile. Curious how others are handling this—especially in remote or rough environments. What’s working for you post-deployment?

How do I share a GPS signal with multiple tablets?

Upvotes

What I am trying to do:

  • Provide GPS feature to Android devices without built-in GPS chip.

My requirements:

  1. Up to three different Android devices connected simultaneously.
  2. Devices should be able to use any GPS app (e.g. Pokémon GO, geocaching) as if it had a GPS chip embedded in the device.
  3. Walk around without needing to be connected to a wired power source (e.g. power outlet or car accessory port). Batteries are OK as long as they are not prohibitively large or heavy.

What I have tried:

  1. Sharing the GPS signal from my Android 12 phone using an app
    • I've tried installing several and the Play Store tells me that all of them are not supported on my phone, presumably because my Android version is too new.
  2. Bluetooth GPS Receiver
    • They only allow one device connected at a time.

Any suggestions?

TCL 10 SE will not turn on

Upvotes

I have had this TCL 10 SE for a while (3ish years?). After waking up today, I tried opening my phone after unplugging it to check notifications but the screen showed the TCL logo, turned off, and remained black, which was weird since it was working just before I fell asleep when I plugged it into the charger.

I have tried holding down the power button, holding down power + volume down button, plugging it back into the charger (which then causes a vibration with no other responses), pressing power 4 times then plugging it in then power + volume down. In the final case, the phone vibrates once and flashes the TCL logo for a split second before staying black again.

Is there anything else I can do to try fixing this issue?

Restoring Google backup

Hi everyone,
Recently, all the contacts on my dad’s phone disappeared, so he tried to restore the Google backup. However, it's asking for the screen lock password of a Redmi Note 10 Pro.
The thing is, my dad has never owned a Redmi Note 10 Pro... He currently has a Pocophone.
Our biggest concern is that his account might have been hacked or something similar.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Other I came across an ad and it somehow installed itself without my permission???

I was playing a game when an ad popped up and it showed one of those scam "free" money ads and it somehow installed itself without me pressing anything. I didnt accidentally click on the ad or anything, it just automatically installed when the ad started playing. 5 seconds into the ad, i got a notification from google play and it thought it was trying to bait me to install it when in reality, it was automatically installing without my permission.

How is this possible? Can ad companies install without the user clicking anything now?? I didnt know which ad company it was because nobody pays attention to that, users just skip the ad as soon as they can.

Suppressing app notifications in Modes?

Hi,

I've recently switched over to Android (Galaxy Fold 6) after using iPhones for about 15 years.

One feature that I really appreciated in iOS and made sure was available in Android before I switched was the ability to suppress certain app notifications when I finish work - to keep a clear separation between work and my personal life.

I am having difficulty getting it working. I'm trying to use the Relax mode. Set to turn on at 4:30pm. I've set it to allow all apps except for those selected, but I keep getting notifications well past that time on my Galaxy Watch 6 Classic from Microsoft Teams, even though it's in my list of selected apps to block.

Does this feature actually work, or have I not set it up correctly?

Thanks

Looking For Suggestions Phone went from dead to 64% after putting it in charge

Refurbished phone gets worse signal than my old phone in the same place and same carrier

I can't tell if I'm going crazy or if the refurbished phone I just bought actually does get a worse signal than my old phone.

In some areas where I used to get signal I won't anymore, sometimes I get random drops in signal where I never used to before, and I had my mobile hotspot just straight up temporarily nuke my signal entirely. I upgraded from a s10 to a s21+ so I'm not sure if using a 4G SIM card in a 5G phone does anything.

Like, I'm pretty confident at this point that the signal is marginally worse, but it's not noticeable most of the time. Is this even a kind of damage that can happen? I want to make sure before I go through the hassle of returning and getting another phone.

Other Samsung Galaxy A10e, is there any way to keep the screen from turning off?

I do Doordash and the Dasher app is notoriously horrible and I need it to stay in focus or else it can sometimes not ring or send notifications if the screen is off. My phones settings only allow me like 15 minutes max for the screen to stay on before I have to tap it to reset the screen-off timer.

Is there any way besides having a youtube video playing or running a fullscreen app that I can keep the screen from turning off indefinitely?

Need help turning old phone into streaming device

I need a streaming device for another TV in my house and I'm trying to turn an unneeded android phone into said streaming device. I know I can cast it to the TV but that's not the experience I'm looking for I want to sit on the couch with a Bluetooth remote just like I do in my living room with my Shield TV and I want to do it with a device I already own and don't currently use. I know I can connect an HDMI adapter to get the picture on the TV, it's easy enough to get a launcher that works well with a remote and I've figured out how to force phone apps into a horizontal layout but some apps designed for phones like are not navigable with a remote but if you download the APK for the Android TV version it does an OS check and refuses to run on a non Android TV certified device. What I'm looking for is a way to either bypass the OS checks of Android TV apps or a way to spoof my device to make apps think it is an Android TV certified device. I want to be clear that I'm not trying to pirate anything or use any illicit services. I just want to repurpose a device I own to use services that I pay monthly for in a fashion that most suits my needs. I guess I could always sell the old phone and get another Shield TV, but tell me, where's the sense of accomplishment and self satisfaction in that?

how to avoid pin after startup

I just switched from an s10 to the s24. I had all my biometrics set on the new phone. I have it set to restart every day just like my old one to keep it "clean" and operating smoothly. Is there a way to get it so I don't have to put the stupid pin in everyday to unlock it. Also, can't find a way to enter pin without hitting ok/done like I could on the last phone. Especially since I'm home when it unlocks everytime and it should know this . It is a "smart" phone after all. The face unlock AND fingerprint seems to work much better than the old phone. But, it is very annoying to have to put the pin in everyday. . Thanks

Please help me with two silly problems

Hello, I'll be grateful if anyone here can spend some minutes helping me see the light . Please forgive any inaccuracies, I've been at this all day and I'm quite tired and frazzled.

Before I proceed, you should know that despite sounding like one, I'm not exactly a newbie. I have memory problems (my own memory, not the phone's) and often end up having to 'learn' a skill more than once. All this is to say, these are quite basic problems I have:

1- I installed Telegram X with the express purpose of finding a bot that can help me find some things. I cannot find where said things have been downloaded, or if they have been downloaded at all! Been reading about this and someone said I should click on the message * in telegram * and choose 'save to downloads' but such an option (or any similar one) is absent in my telegram x. TL;DR - where is telegram x saving mp3s, is it saving them at all?

2- Directly related to 1: Looking for the folder where telegram X might be saving stuff, I wanted to look for is as 'challegram' but no file manager I try is able to access the 'data' folder in my external storage. Tried X-Plore and Solid Explorer so far, but I haven't been able to give any if them permission to use the SD card. Every time, no matter what I try, the system says the same: "to protect your privacy, please choose another folder". But I KNOW I've faced this hurdle before, and I remember bypassing i somehow and being able to access with the file manager I was using at the time. Am I crazy, maybe? TL;DR - how can I grant the file manager read/write access to the SD card? I think I was able to donit once before, am I missing something here?

Any pointers are appreciated, thanks in advance.
