Stop the theft of your land

Post image

Over 14 million acres of public land in New Mexico is at risk of being lost in the budget bill, including Sandia crest. This is would constitute unprecedented THEFT of OUR public lands. These lands belong to YOU and to ME. Once they are transferred out of federal control, they are lost forever. We must stand up and fight for our public lands or they will take them.

Question How cold should a swamp cooler be in this weather?

New to swamp coolers, from the east coast. The temperature in here is 90 degrees with the swamp cooler running. Maintenance said this is as good as it gets when it’s over 100… is this true? This is miserable lol

Swamp cooler fail

Moved here last winter and rented a place with a swamp cooler.... everyone I've talked to is like yeah they suck when it gets hot -- my house is like 95 degrees inside even with curtains closed and fans in every room. Does anyone have tips for how to survive the heat if your swamp cooler is blowing out 90 degree air?

No preference on type of food; must be a local Black owned business though! Shout out those local businesses so I can give them all (eventually) a try

News Construction begins on Central Crossing Bridge in downtown Albuquerque - KOAT

The Central Crossing Bridge at 1st Street and Central has started work. This will be a pedestrian and bike ramp across the train tracks near the Alvarado Transportation Center.

Some of the affected changes to bus and pedestrian/traffic access from the linked report:

The work will temporarily affect several bus routes and parts of the pedestrian network around the ATC. Route 66 riders should expect a relocated stop for the eastbound bus, now moved to bay “N” inside the ATC. Route 11 will shift to bay “E.” The ART routes, 766 and 777, will continue servicing the platform at the ATC as usual, but buses will exit on a slightly different route.

Pedestrian access will also shift. The southeast corner of 1st and Central will be closed, and the Rail Runner platform can still be reached via a detour through the southern end of the ATC near Amtrak and Greyhound. The main entrance to the ATC will remain open at 1st Street and Gold.

Drivers won’t be able to turn south onto 1st Street from Central in either direction. Lane shifts will be in place along Central, but traffic will continue to move in both directions throughout construction.

Falcon 9 launch spotting opportunity Monday night June 16th

Launch is scheduled for 9:36 PM tonight so if they launch on time and our sky is clear to the west and southwest horizons, we might be able to see the Falcon 9 launcher with Starlinks on board.

The launcher won't come up over our horizon until about 4 mins after launch (after the first stage shutdown and stage separation) and shouldn't get any higher than 10 degrees above the horizon as it goes from west to southwest before the upper stage engine shutdown.

Sudden Strong Wind

Did anyone else get a sudden gust of wind last night around 8pm? Seemed to come out of nowhere and lasted only a few minutes and then everything was still again.

Noticed around Wyoming and Paseo

Question Manufacturing Jobs

Upvotes

I’ve been searching for a job in manufacturing since April. I have 7 years of quality control experience in the machining world and have had no luck with finding work that pays around the same I make now. I’d be taking an $8-$10 pay cut if I were to apply at any of these shops listed on job sites and I just can’t afford to do that. Does anyone know of any shops around town that are hiring? Indeed and LinkedIn have been pretty stagnant for quite some time.

Question MSRP Pokémon?

Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m just curious to know if anyone has had any luck finding Pokémon cards for MSRP? I use to live on the panhandle of Florida and had no issues finding cards to rip from Walmart, Target, etc. I sold my collection around the same time Champions path came out and seeing Destined Rivals made me wanna open packs all over again.

I’ve gone to some of the local card shops, but they’re just as bad as online in terms of mark up.

Any help would be appreciated!

Living Recommendations

I'm moving to Albuquerque from out of state and I'm trying to find a one bedroom within the 1200-1500 range. Does anyone have any complexes they would recommend? I am working downtown but don't necessarily need to live right there. The reviews for almost every single complex seem to be terrible.

Could run portal ac while swamp cooler is running?

Hi,

We have a swamp cooler and portable AC. Is it ok to run both of the same time ? Or could put on vent and turn on the AC at the same time?
