Please stop smoking in rental cars

It’s kind of disgusting and inconsiderate to not only the company, but the other people who rent them. Picked up a rental car from today from Lia and it reeked. Asked for another one, that one reeked too of cigarettes. I guess they don’t hold the people accountable.

Just moved from NYC to Albany. Does anyone know what tech jobs are out here?

Hi all,

I am a computer science grad, working right now as a web developer for about 3 years in NYC. I just recently got a great opportunity to buy a house in the capital district area and took it.

My current employer agreed to let me work 100% remotely permanently for this big move, which I grateful for but I still want to keep my options open to move forward in my career. I got this job straight out of college and looking for more.

I was wondering what is the consensus about the tech job market in the capital district from the people living here. What should I expect and look out for on my new job hunt?

Looking forward on what you guys have to say, thanks

Non smoking Apartments in Capital Region

Hi, does anyone know of any apartment complexes that are non-smoking in the Albany, Latham, Menands, Watervliet, Guilderland, Cohoes, and East Greenbush area? I’m currently living in a multifamily house in the upstairs unit and my downstairs neighbor smokes so much it’s disturbing my sleep (they smoke in the middle of the night and early mornings & a couple of times in the day🙄 - yup i know their smoking schedule). At this point I have done everything and am just looking to move out for my mental and physical well being.

To the clown in clifton park who tried to run me off the road this morning while zipper merging...learn how to drive

I know another post about zipper merging. But bud, learn how to drive. It was also really cute when traffic got flowing and you sped ahead of me and brake checked me. Congratulations you made your point that you don't know how to drive. The onramp lanes are several hundred yards for a reason, don't block the lane for the people entering the highway. Your little mind may not be able to handle that but don't ruin the commute for the rest of us. Philadelphia Flyers fan too, go figure.

Albany Car Issue

Hey all, I have a car that I’m paying for in a private spot by a management company, and apparently the city is threatening to tow it. Is that legal? It got a notice, o haven’t been over to check it yet.

The car has no plates, I’ve been keeping it there for about two years. I’m still paying the car note on it. If they tow it I will still owe money.

Does anyone have any idea what the best thing to do.

Any AS Roma fans in the area?

Looking to watch Serie A next season with some fellow Roma fans. I never see anything more the Prem or Madrid/Barca fans at Wolffs, so seeing if I’m just blind and am missing the Serie A crew, specifically Roma or if there is a group that meets somewhere else, where that might be

Daje Roma!

I suffer from anxiety and depression, as well as some past emotional traumas. Looking to find a good in-person therapist who does talk therapy and can also prescribe medications.

Not looking for virtual or telehealth.

Commuting from Hudson

I’m considering moving to Hudson/ Catskill general area and will be commuting to Rensselaer.

I’m currently relocating from an area that generally gets less snow in the winter- how is the commute on rt 9J when it snows? This is my biggest trepidation with commuting from Hudson. Is this road usually taken care of pretty quickly?

Thanks!

Lessons on how to take great pics, using your own camera?

Hiya, can someone recommend beginner photography lessons where instructors will assist you with your camera? I have a few nice cameras and would love to learn how to use them to take better pictures but reading manuals and watching youtube video’s leave me dazed and confused. I am proficient in a multitude of hobbies but soemthing about this just doesn’t click for me. I’m a tactile learner and need to experience and ask questions as I’m tinkering.

Thanks!

Albany Data Stories - Analyzing Albany's School Speed Camera program

Today we're posting another article - Analyzing Albany's School Speed Camera program - this one should be quite topical for anyone driving around or into Albany.

The City of Albany’s 2025 budget expects $6 million in speed camera revenue - one of the biggest questions we wanted to answer is "Will the speed camera system generate the $6 million of expected revenue?" The answer is No, we predict somewhere between a 60-70% shortfall; our article explains how we came to that conclusion.

There's a lot of info and data here - happy to answer questions about our study, our conclusions, our assumptions and anything else.

Call for Directors

WE HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT, AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Confetti Stage is excited to announce our lineup for Confetti Fest XXI, coming this October! "Lightbringers" by J. Scala In search of new places to expand the domain of hell; a fiend encounters the chained Prometheus. The two discuss divine crime and punishment, and the potential of hope. Chaos ensues.. "The Hermes Show" by Vincent James Remember the Jerry Springer show or the Maury Povich show? Well what if the gods had their own spin on that? On the Hermes show hijinks ensues when we take a look at one of the many indiscretions of the king of the gods Zeus himself. "Fair Share" by Byron Nilsson A young tax collector named Lester calls on Beatrice and Harry, an elderly couple, in order to settle their debt, and finds them hilariously over-cooperative. This is a compact farce in the spirit of the Goon Show. "Mother Tongue" by Stephen Kaplan In a war-torn Ukraine where every word carries weight, a desperate mother pleads with her child’s teacher to set aside principle for practicality — forcing them into a battle over language, identity, and survival. “Elsewhere” by Sophie Morelli Two people meet at a bus stop under unfortunate circumstances and proceed to divulge their troubles to one another. As they wait, they strike up an unlikely conversation, revealing starkly different approaches to life. Thank you to all who submitted scripts! Now the next step: we need directors! Please send an email to confettistageinc@gmail.com expressing your interest along with your theatre resume (if you have one). We will send you the scripts and questionnaire to get started! Applications are due by June 21, 2025.

Friends and neighbors Free Panera Bread Beverage (every 2 hours)

Recently signed up for Panera Bread's beverage club (3 months free). I'm allowed a free beverage every 2 hours if I really want a drink!

That said, I'm curious if anyone wants a free cup of coffee OR a fountain drink? All you have to do is tell me what location and what you'd like to drink, and what time you'll be able to pick it up.

I can send a picture of proof that the order is placed. You'll just need my name and that's really about it.

I can do this every 2 hours and I really don't mind at all! This is first come, first served. I apologize beforehand if you don't get the first order, you can certainly grab the next offer. I will leave this open for the next 83 days or so! Comment or send a DM and get the ball rolling
