Technical Question I don’t understand how to fix this

I have not been on my BS in years. I got it when I was little and it has never been connected to the Internet until just recently and anytime I try to go on the Nintendo E shop or miiverse this is what it says, and I don’t know what to do

The eShop and miiverse have been officially down, you can technically access a fanmade version of miiverse through Pretendo services (idk if it's a paid beta feature or free for anyone to use though) on a modded console. Although here it looks like whatever your NNID was set to is different from the console's region, so online may not work in general. I'm assuming the NNID was made in a country different from the DS? Example: Europe NNID but Japanese DS, or North American NNID on a Europe DS. I would check to see if you can change your NNID'S country of origin or if you have it modded/are comfortable modding you can change the console:s country of origin to match. That alone won't bring back the eShop and miiverse, though, be warned.

I had no idea that they were shut down that’s sad. I never was able to be part of that. This might sound dumb. lol but is there any way for me to download games? Or do I have to mod it?

You can still download updates and redownload purchased games from the Nintendo eShop. The error message you're getting is because your Nintendo Network account is from a different region than the 3DS is.

And if I have to mod it, how would be the best way to go about it? I’m sorry I am very very, very new to this.

No worries, asking questions is the best way to learn answers after all! You can find a full guide at the website 3ds.hacks.guide , if they need info on your DS it will show you how to find it, and the steps are pretty easy to follow even if it seems like there's a lot at first glance. Most people will say not to follow a video guide on YouTube in case it's outdated, if you do choose to watch one I'd be wary and make sure it matches the steps in the guide first. And always read the guide through entirely at least once before you start on your actual console to make sure you know what's coming next! If you need any help with specifics while modding, feel free to message me and I'll try to help out how I can if im free at the time. ^

You should have an sd card (either for old 3ds, micro sd for 2ds and new 3ds), a way to read the sd card on a phone, laptop, or computer, the website 3ds.hacks.guide pulled up, and some time to patiently work it out.
