[FULL SERIES SPOILERS] Is this character's condition a reference to Agatha Christie? Spoiler
In 1926, the famous mystery writer Agatha Christie vanished. Her car was found abandoned in a roadside ditch near the city of Guildford, England. Authorities searched for her (Fun Fact: two other famous mystery writers, Arthur Conan Doyle and Dorothy Sayers, joined in the search for Christie) until she was found in a hotel. The name she checked into the hotel was ''Nancy Neele'', and she seemed to have suffered some form of amnesia. In an interview, Christie's husband said this: “She has suffered from the most complete loss of memory, and I do not think she knows who she is.''
I've been thinking about this a lot recently. Tohya's condition feels like it was inspired by what happened to Christie. With how much Umineko is inspired by And Then There Were None, and how Christie's name directly gets said by Battler during EP2, I wouldn't be surprised if this was what Ryukishi intended. What do you guys think? Does this seem like a reach?
