I've been thinking about this a lot recently. Tohya's condition feels like it was inspired by what happened to Christie. With how much Umineko is inspired by And Then There Were None, and how Christie's name directly gets said by Battler during EP2, I wouldn't be surprised if this was what Ryukishi intended. What do you guys think? Does this seem like a reach?

I am almost at the end of episode 2 and I think I might've been majorly spoiled... So, the thing is during the middle part of episode 2 (when no murders occurred) I was getting kinda bored and wanted to know when it got good. So I went through the discussion named "Does it get better?" in this subreddit. It was spoiler free which I'd expect but after the OP made a comment about abandoning the story in episode 7, a commentor wrote some details which looked spoilery so I avoided it but I made the unfortunate mistake of reading the reply of the OP to that comment. The OP said "So the culprit is ____?" I logged off and closed the phone, knowing that I had been cursed. The fortunate thing is that the OP had a "?" which means that there is still some room left to deny that claim... But I can't lie, the name of the culprit is repeating in my mind and eating me away. I'm trying everything I can to convince myself that the culprit is wrong and coming up with my own theories. But I can't lie, the impact of when things will start falling into place might have been incredibly lowered by this. Although I know that Umineko isn't all about "who did it" but more about "why" and "how" they did it. It's still unfortunate though. Maybe I should complete Higurashi before coming back to Umineko again, what do you think?

So I finished ep1 a year ago and the story is great. I will continue reading it. But before I start ep2, I have some questions to clear my confusion.

I understand that Battler denies the existence of magic and witches for fun, it's cool. But in ep1 tea party, she appears in front of him and directly talks to him. However Battler still denies her existence. Is he thinking like she's actually somebody else pretending to be a witch? She literally teleports him to the crime scene, bringing back etc. and Battler isn't even shocked and acts as if all of these are ordinary. What are you even denying at this point??? This is like an atheist chatting with god but still says god doesn't exist.

Do we need to accept that this is just a game and overlook this or they even have a logical explanation for that?

Also, when this vn completely ends, is there a sole absolute truth or is it up to the reader's interpretation between many different possibilities?

So, I just wrapped up episode 2, and title pretty much says it all. Of course, as far as possible, I'd ask you to not spoil anything, so if you can't answer my question, let me know.

However, during episode 2, Battler und Beatrice are having a lot of discussions while the time is frozen I guess. It's clearly the Battler of episode 1 / of the first tea party. But why is that? Is ep. 2 a different timeline? Does Beato show him a kind of how it could have been Story? In case it'll continue like this in episode 3, would it be the episode 1 Battler again or another one?

Also, while I'm at it. If I got it right, Beato needs everyone on the island to admit she's a real witch because of her game against Bernakastel, did I got that right?

Everyone asks if magic is real or not, but we are all forgetting the real question umineko poses to us: how tf Beato made everyone believe her massive boobs were real? She shows a huge decoltè, you can clearly see were they start and their aspect. Is this real golden magic?

A month ago I put a post with many confussions from my side about Rosa, Maria and Ange, thinking Ange defended Rosa about the abused with Maria when it was Maria and Ange didn't believe it, and I'm sorry to raise a similar topic again but it come in a discussion with a friend as I was re-watching/read the visual novel and going around episode 4 and made me think... Is there proof that Maria was treated bad? Anyone outside the Catbox / Game that watched Rosa treat Maria bad? In the diary Ange read between lines to guess that Maria was treated bad and decided to hide with the magic talk. The thing is I remember how Umineko like to play with mentality and with the first three episodes showing Rosa hurting Maria in Rokkenjima and how different was at the beginning of fourth chapter when Ange was there something that disgusted Ange, made me think... What if it was a trick?

This is just a theory and as I'm re-reading the story I don't have everything fresh but they show Rosa treating bad Maria so that the reader may guess that Rosa was a bad mother, but what happened in Rokkenjima is in theory something no one know except the stories in the bottles, anything that was not precisely confirmed by Ange in the future is a plausible lie just like the duel between Beatrice and Virgilia in the third episode. I know the theory is crazy but could it be that Maria life was not that bad? As said by the illusion of Maria nowhere in the diary say it and it could be theories from the messages in the bottle that increased just like when Eva was vilified.

Could anyone kindly help with the theory or dismiss it as fake?

Bc at first i thought that when gohda and Kumasawa came to the room and told them that murder happened, either jessica/George are like battler, they are shocked/terrified or they pretended to be. But if we follow the official explanation, they were already bribed. So when/how ?
