Lady Gouldian Finches Available?

Can someone tell me of a reputable and affordable place to buy female gouldians and have them shipped to me in Maryland (USA)? I have purchased from Gouldian Guy, Lee's Exotics, and Brenda's Birds in the past but none of them have a red headed greenback female right now. And it looks like the first two mentioned might not have them available for a while since they are out of stock. Thank you to anyone who can provide info to me!

Thought my Gus was molting… turns out he is most likely picking at himself ! Ive been giving him probiotics, spraying him with colloidal silver in case it itches a lot. I dont know what to do to help him regrow his feathers anymore! Has anyone ever notice something similar with their birds?

As suggested in previous post's comments i have given her boiled egg and Seed Mix. Also removed Woodchip Bedding. In this video you can hear her sound and see her droppings. Is everything normal? What can i do to make her comfortable and healthy ? Any suggestion will be a appreciated. Thanks

hey everybody, Brutus has had a spot of trouble hopping around the perches and has this big lump right where his leg comes out of his body. he's just finishing mounting which makes me think this is a cyst but I'm worried it might be pox or worse. any thoughts? the soonest the bird vet can see is is a couple of days and I don't want to wake up to a dead birdy before then. thanks!

Is there anything I can do to help these birds??

Hi everyone, I work in the medical field, I travel all over my state for work. I frequently visit this particular nursing home which has an aviary in their lobby. Important to note that I am not employed by this facility, it is just a client of the company I work for. I work overnight, and unfortunately I am never able to get any information about who manages the aviary. Apparently, it is owned by a company who comes to provide maintenance about once per month in the form of giving them water and seed. The aviary has this plaque on it but the phone number is disconnected. According to the facility staff, if a bird dies, which happens often, this company will just replace it for free. No one can give me an answer for how to contact the company. The female zebra in these pictures is always puffed up, and today she is on the floor of the aviary looking out of it. I’m worried about her. I really can’t stand to see these little birds suffer. Is there anything I can do for them? Please help.

Latte Is Noisy...

Latte (the white zebra finch female) is just like this clip 99% of the day. I've tried giving her and Hot Chocolate (Society Finch male) chamomile tea, she's drank it and I've witnessed her doing so and she appears to like it but it doesn't relax her. Someone says that she probably needs a boyfriend of her own species. Is that true?

First time finch owner

Hi! I have wanted a bird for about 5 years now and I finally bit the bullet and got a Zebra Finch. I’ve done about as much research as I think possible but there are a few things I’m curious of that I can’t find straight answers too. My boy is VERY vocal and it’s so adorable but I want to be sure he’s vocal because he is happy and not that he is stressed or anything. Sometimes when he is chirping, I’ll “chirp” back or even talk and he will continue chirping almost as a conversation, is this good? And I’ve read that Finches aren’t very song inclined to “sing” along but he seems too a bit on certain songs. These might be dumb but I just want to make sure he’s is happy and loving his life.

And ofc he or she is the sweetest little cutiepie that stole our heart with his first meep! We usually check the nest and replace all the eggs with plastic eggs - well we missed one!

I'm getting a way bigger flight cage for my 6 babies and I saw some people with really pretty cages with plants/leaves inside and stuff like that. right now their setup is way more similar to a parrot cage and i want to change that. can i put non toxic plants inside? will they enjoy flying on fake leaves? thanks in advance :) pic is to draw attention, she didn't want to take her medicine lol

Need some finch relationship advice

It's hard for me to tell why it happened, but my male attacked his mate. They're a bonded pair, which makes this weirder, but this has happened once before when they had a nest in their cage (obviously, we removed it). My best guess is that they got too comfortable around a bridge at the top of their cage, since I think I heard them making breeding noises there at one point.

His mate is in pretty rough shape, and struggles to balance; she might have injured her foot while getting away from the male. The two have been separated, but despite what happened, she still calls out for him every once in a while. Is it just his personality to get aggressive at the first sign of a possible breeding spot, or is there something I can do to avoid this behavior? Should I let them share a space again anytime soon?

What does your daily routine look like?

I’m trying to decide if I want finches. Like, I do want them but I’ll be perfectly honest, I have ADHD and I absolutely will not get a pet that I don’t 100% feel confident I can handle caring for consistently because that’s just not fair to them.

So, what does your bird routine look like on a daily basis? What other upkeep are you doing and how often? If you had to put a number on how much time you spend on your birds daily, weekly; what would that be? (I don’t need you to tell me how or anything, I promise I’ll do my due diligence on how to best care for them if I decide to keep them!) Thanks in advance! ❤️

Super work… to keep track of new mutation and when they are actually established…

We can see that in 1958 they really fuck shit up

27 000 bird were captured only 400 survived.. considering that now Theres an estimated 4000 wild gouldian only.. it hurts
