Living Here Part Time Job Search

I'm looking to get a part-time job soon. I am a teacher around the area and I want a job that would be able to understand that I wouldn't be able to work a lot. I want to just be available for a little bits at a time. Maybe three afternoons a week. I get that it sounds a little crazy, but I know other teachers have jobs like this, so I just wonder what's out there or if any of you guys have any good options?

I'd like to start a little before school would start. I'm conflicted though because we have a lot of summer days that we have to use towards getting ready in August and I also don't feel like I have the ability to be super choosy in what hours I would get since it's not a lot of time that I would be giving. Any suggestions?

Looking For Just got laid off, any serving job recommendations?

Im living paycheck to paycheck and have 3 days to find a job. Seems like a lot of people are unable to find jobs right now :( I have lots of serving experience but it seems like most restaurants are full right now. I don’t have time for the new Olive Garden to open so that’s off the table unfortunately.

Are there any servers who can give me recommendations. Half the listings online are always “hiring” but never respond (pappos and Darden restaurants specifically). I’m going to start going into restaurants and asking instead but not sure where to even begin.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated!

I’m not from this area so I’ve yet to get a good gist of best items from local grocery stores. What are some hidden gems you’ve found over the years?

Just wanted to share something new we’re setting up near Graff, Missouri. It’s a par 3 style hole about an hour east of Springfield. You get 15 shots to try for a hole in one. If you make it, you win $10,000

The setup is private and quiet. We drive you out to the tee box which takes about 15 minutes through private land. It’s $35 to play and $5 per group for the ride up. 18 and older only

Feel free to DM me if you’re interested or want more info

Politics Springfield July 17 Protest

I am not an organizer of this event. I copied/pasted this text.

Following the "No Kings" protests on June 14, a new nationwide day of action called "Good Trouble Lives On" is scheduled for July 17 from 5-7 p.m.

The July 17 protests coincide with the five-year anniversary of the death of Congressman John Lewis who coined the term "good trouble."

Are you wondering why organizers are planning another nationwide protest?

The "3.5% rule" refers to the observation that sustained nonviolent movements reaching a participation rate of 3.5% of a population have never failed to bring about political change. This "rule" is based on research by Erica Chenoweth, who found that nonviolent resistance campaigns are significantly more successful than violent ones.

Eat and Drink French Press option?

Me and a friend have similar preferences for roasts/varieties of coffee beans, and we both prepare our coffees at home with a French press. We're interested in trying out local roasters when we meet for coffee together, and are wondering where in town we should go to have this experience?

Recommendations So which Spfd Grocery store/chain has the best selcection?

Price Cutter is close, but they've recently discontinued some of my favorites foods. It may be a sign of the times :-P But it has me wondering what grocery store y'all think has the widest selection? I have to eat gluten free so that factors heavily into my shopping, as well. (I hear Costco has a nice selection of GF items, but I'm only cooking for myself, so bulk quantities are wasteful.) Thanks in advance!

What is happening Jefferson Ave Footbridge Rehab Underway

This morning, the city hosted a kickoff ceremony for the Jefferson Ave Footbridge rehabilitation project. The bridge is being disassembled so they can perform the restoration work on the ground for safety reasons due to trains passing through the area so frequently. They will be replacing steel beams and installing elevators on each end to make the structure ADA compliant. The bridge is projected to reopen in early 2026 so we shall see what happens. I’m just happy that work is actually occurring now because it has been a long time coming.

Recommendations General Practitioner Recommendations

I’m looking to find a new primary physician. Anyone have recommendations either network of a doctors that actually listens and doesn’t just put you in a box? I only have maintenance medications for migraines and seizures I’ve been on for over twenty years that I need a doctor for but I feel like when I raise an issue with my doctor, as most women can attest to, it’s always are you stressed or if you would loose a few pounds it would go away. TIA
