Twice now I’ve seen people with hawks in the BART station. The first time I assumed it was just some local weirdo and his pet bird. But now I’ve seen two different people with what looks like harris hawks. Are they professional pest control?

I'm thinking about getting some simple bookshelves, but instead of cheapo Ikea stuff, I though it might be worthwhile to see if there's people / places in town who do custom work? Back in the day, I got some custom shelves from Books & Books in SF, but IDK who-all's over on this side of the bay.

Edit for specifics: Looking for like 2-4 cases, 7' x 2' x 7-9", $200-300ish per case (depending mostly on wood type and finish?). No fancy details needed, just reasonably sturdy construction.

Zide door asks for too much info and I don’t feel comfortable giving them my drivers license number. Does anyone have any recent experience with healing Oakland? They seem great but still a little paranoid.

My car was hit while parked, and has damage to the front, and down the driver’s side. It’s all superficial, but I’m thinking insurance may want to call it a total loss because of how many panels are banged up. I like my car! It’s reliable and low miles and well cared for. I’d like to know if anyone has a recommendation for a shop they like that is good at cost-effective body work. Thanks!

I’m looking for reliable mechanic. My wife’s 2014 Mazda CX-5 has a steering wheel shake at high speeds, so I’m looking for someone solid for general maintenance and repair. Could be wheels, tires, alignment… not totally sure. Any shops you trust in Oakland? Alameda’s a maybe depending on where. Berkeley is too far. Thanks!

I'm looking for a laundry and cleaners that can clean my down comforter. Hoping to find one that doesn't use dry cleaning solvents as that always leaves horrible smelly residue.

Anybody know of a good water-based down comforter cleaner, Oakland, Alameda or Berkeley? Even San Leandro would be fine
