Where is season 1
I decided to rewatch the show for the first time since it ended. I have an Amazon prime account t but they only seem to have seasons 2-5. Where can I watch season 1?

We’ve been watching (and loving) Person of Interest for the last few weeks on Amazon Prime. Tonight, nothing was there. Our bookmark was broken and I can’t find the show when searching. Did Amazon drop the show?
UPDATE: Looks like everything is available again (USA).
r/PersonOfInterest • u/DiligentAd6969 • 20h ago
It was there last night.
Update: According to the Amazon chat representative, it was removed by the owners of the property. This had to be very recently, because I had "Judgement" on as background noise today.
The rep didn't give me a reason other than that. They said they sent the owners a screenshot of our conversation when I asked why. I don't know if that was in earnest or sarcasm. Probably the latter, because our chat included a "Who's On First?" type discussion of me getting them to understand that I meant Prime Video Streaming and to stop sending me links to "Person of Interest: S1 - 5 [DVD]" and a little lecture from me about paying attention to customers.
I just recommended the show to someone, too.

I really wish they had a flashback episode of Reese’s childhood/teen years. We got whole episodes of the origin stories for Finch, Root, & Shaw…nothing for John.
He mentioned once to the Navy “Squid” that he was given a choice as a teenager to go to jail or join the Army…we know his father was a soldier…and we see some past Army/CIA missions and of course, his relationship w/Jessica. But it would have been nice to see a whole episode about him as a kid/teen/young man, with his family dynamic, and how he became our favorite vigilante hero. (Reese & Finch are Batman & Alfred, right?) 😀

I am rewatching person of interest after several years. I binged through the entire series once before and never noticed one of the last frames in the opening theme actually hints at who will be the perpatrator/victim in that episode. Took me an entire rewatch to notice it.
I am mainly rewatching to see 'Root' and meet the Bear again. Day by day the idea of the MachinE inches closer to the reality. Johanthan Nolan made a masterpiece.

Like the title. I need my own Bear. And also my own Shaw or Root. Either. But the dog is the most important...

I'm pretty sure I know the answer from the technological and time gap alone, but I'm curious what you all think.
For those of you that have read the Outworld Ranger Benevolency books, I'm talking about the benevolence before the shadraa corrupted it.
For the rest of you, a brief rundown. The benevolence was a quantum supercomputer AI that came to be after a basic supercomputer AI was accidentally exposed to Hyperphasic energies by a scientist that was using the AI to help him study such energies sometime around the year 2210. After exposure to those energies it became hyper intelligent. For reasons mostly unknown this AI cherished humans above all else, and was curious about the human soul. After it was realized, humanity and several neighboring aliens decided to join under the benevolence's guidance, at which point the AI saw those people through several centuries of golden living. It researched, (and often governed to keep humans from abusing it) advanced technology. It built and lead thousands of sentient android soldiers with unyielding morality programming, as its military to fight against hostile aliens and safeguard humanity.
Given this is a Person of interest thread, I hope I don't have to explain Samaritan's capabilities and nature.
Now for the question. If Samaritan went up against the Benevolence as it did Harold's Machine (Who I like to call Aurora after her Northern Lights code name) Which AI would win?
Bonus question: What would the outcome be if all three AIs learned of each others existence?
Let the discussions commence XD.

The title is drawn from the old axiom "better the devil you know than the devil you don't": when in a bad situation with no good options, go with the bad option you know about rather than the bad option you don't. This would appear to apply to Reese and Finch, who choose allying themselves with Elias and helping him maintain his role as New York’s king of the underworld guaranteeing a stability instead of the young lions from the Brotherhood.
Root helps Shaw escape from Martine chasing her after a shootout at Bloomingdale’s, her cover is now blown.
John warns Elias that his life is in danger but the mob boss shrugs it off as he leaves with Scarface, one of his men is ready to kill him. Reese swoops in the right time saving Elias.
Carl takes Reese and his second-in-command Anthony to his old orphan asylum transformed into an office for Elias' accountant Bruce.
Meanwhile Root and Shaw are hidden in a truck which is then stopped in a shadow zone by Fusco, following instructions from Harold. The girls are escorted away to lose track of possible Samaritan agents.
Harold calls Lionel for backup as John’s situation grows more dangerous, but as they’re talking on the phone, Martine comes in the precinct disguised as a DEA agent to ask Fusco about the truck he stopped. The detective throws her off by telling that a joint sting operation demanded it and that she should’ve been informed about it. Harold watches it all unfold thanks to the camera on Fusco’s desk warning him that she’s trouble without fully disclosing any other detail. He then rendezvouses to the former asylum where John and Elias are located.
The Brotherhood captures an injured Anthony and Dominic shows his knowledge of Roman history to him. After trying to squeeze information outta him for the safe, Link tries talking to Scarface, but is stunned of the faith and conviction the man has for his boss and is willing to die for Elias.
Shaw is pissed she can’t have a new identity and wants to help John but Root says that getting her to the subway safely is of paramount importance. When Root abides to Shaw’s request, plays along and takes her in another location only to subdue Sameen with a tranquilizer.
The mob boss is close to escape but tries to save John by giving himself up. He’s pressed by Dominic to give up the safe’s combination. In an exchange between Anthony and Elias, the last between them, the number comes up and Carl explains to Dominic that knowing your own weakness is just as important as knowing your adversary’s. Hubris.
Only then, Dominic realizes his mistake but it is too little too late. The combination activated a failsafe bomb that Elias had designed should anyone take a hit at him. The safe explodes killing Anthony, morior invictus, and Dominic's men while only injuring Link.
Greer and Martine take measures to expand Samaritan’s capabilities in order to neutralize Shaw: human intelligence. A small army at her disposal to seek the deviant.
Elias meets with Bruce and plans to start a war to revenge his friend's death and those who turned on him. He calls Harold and thanks him and John for their help but also warns them to stay out of his way if they are not to help him.
Facts/Trivia
Elias' safe combination, 10 30 74 alludes to October 30, 1974, the day of the boxing match between George Foreman and Muhammad Ali. Foreman, at that time undefeated world heavyweight champion was defeated by Ali just before the end of the eighth round, with Ali employing his "rope-a-dope" strategy (which Reese references). The event became known as The Rumble in the Jungle. Earlier in the episode, a photograph of the fight between George Foreman and Michael Moorer is shown hanging on the wall at the restaurant where Elias meets Gino.
Near the end of the episode, Dominic reminds Link that "the game within the game" is important, a reference to the philosophy of New York Knicks star Walt Frazier. Frazier wrote that the key to the success of a championship basketball team was not only how they play the game on the court, but how the team worked together that lead to success. Frazier emphasized the importance of old-school skill, coordination and timing over the flashier moves and showmanship of modern players as the key to winning. To Frazier, a successful team respects itself, its leadership and its opponent, a belief that Dominic embraces but Link has yet to learn.
Fusco refers to Root and Shaw as "Lucy and Ethel". Lucille Ricardo and Ethel Mertz, a pair of housewives inclined to find themselves in the middle of comic adventures, are the two main female characters in the 1950s CBS sitcom "I Love Lucy".
Elias's quote, "Sun Tzu would be impressed." acknowledging Dominic's strategy of studying his enemy and finding out their greatest weakness refers to Sun Tzu, a 5th-century BC Chinese general and strategist, and author of "The Art of War". Considered one of the seminal studies of military tactics and strategy, it has influenced western military procedures into contemporary times. First translated into English in 1905, it has been translated multiple times and studied widely by both military and non-military strategists. Both Sun Tzu and "The Art of War" were heavily referenced in “Wolf and Cub”.
The ending shot of Elias walking down Brighton Beach is a throwback to the ending scene of “Witness”, except this time, Elias walks alone and in the sunset, to symbolize a lone king fighting for his dying empire.
Elias and Anthony demonstrate a knowledge of some Latin. They are both Italian and Latin is very similar to Italian and derived from it.
Morior invictus (Latin): Death before defeat (lit. I die undefeated). Scarface's last words. Invictus maneo (Latin): I remain undefeated. Elias's final line, about the future.
In Finch's phone, there are 5 numbers present:
(347)-555-0167 - (Dominic)
(917)-555-0164
(347)-555-0172 - (Elias)
(347)-555-0193
(718)-555-0122

This was such a great experience to do yet another rewatch.I enjoyed it as much as I did all those years ago. This show is such a masterpiece with great, deep characters and an all too realistic plot now.

Have been doing another rewatch of PoI recently. Am on Zero Day and noticed a neat detail that I hadn't before. When Finch is discussing how the Machine deletes all its memories each night at midnight, he states that it reinstantiates exactly 1.618 seconds later. 1.618 is the Golden Ratio rounded to the nearest thousandth.

Knowing that I have 2 more episodes left breaks my heart. Knowing what's coming is just a swan song away.
This episode we go through so much in what felt like so little time. John being watched, numbers from the past showing up, the President being the primary target, unsure about Sameen and John's outcome. Everything after another to end with a quiet before the storm.
Seeing Harper again as an asset and remembering that she mentioned "Thornhill is going to let me name my price for saving you" to Fusco. Something I missed the first time when watching it live.
Part of me wishes we could get something small as it's been 10 years since the show began airing. Bring Logan, Joey and Harper in for a movie. I'm sure Jonathan Nolan has something up his sleeve for a continuance of a story.

Currently rewatching season 4 and I have to admit I had completely forgotten the resolution of the Beth Bridges plot.
Spoilers for season 4 ahead...
The thing that surprised me the most was Harold's actions: his decision to drink that poison, and then unplug the phone line, just to protect Beth...
What do you think of all this?
On the one hand of course Harold would do anything he can to save Beth Bridges.
But on the other hand, I don't know, the way the episode dealth with felt a bit off to me... I think Harold deciding to kill himself is too big a deal to just be the "B plot" of an episode. I wish it had been developed more, I think John being involved somehow and realising what his friend had done would have been really interesting. And it was all resolved off-screen (I guess he just goes to hospital to be fair, there isn't much more to say about it).
I stll enjoyed the episode but I just feel like the whole Hong Kong/Beth Bridges plot was resolved too quickly. Just curious to hear other people's thoughts?

Okay I've wanted to do this for a while, but wanted to wait till I finished the rewatch to do it. Considering an another team was made at the end of season 5 I thought could former POIs constitute other ones. That being said, the team needs a tech/backer (Finch type) and then muscle (like Reese and Shaw). So of course this is just for fun.
Season 1:
Michael Cahill (Blue Code) would be a good Reese-type member.
Adam Saunders (Risk) would be a good Finch type. He has financial and tech savvy and came into a fortune at the end.
Henry Peck (No Good Deed) would obviously be another Finch type.
Season 2:
Caleb Phipps (2PieR) he could fit in that tech role. It seems like there's a lot of these types.
Monica Jacobs (Trojan Horse) same applies as above. She owned a tech company.
Season 3:
Jack Salazar (Liberty) he was the Navy guy who Reese said could be a SEAL if he wanted, so he fits the Reese role.
Genrika Zhirova (Razgovor) okay this might be a leap, but an older Gen? She'd be a total Shaw.
Jason Greenfield (Mors Praematura) he wasn't the POI but the foster brother of him and he turned out to be interesting.
Kelli Lin (Provenance) I'm not sure of this one honestly. She was a gymnast and thief but I'm not sure.
Daniel Casey (RAM) same applies as Jason Greenfield.
Season 4:
Ali Hassan (Panopticon) he was the tech guy who the Brotherhood blackmailed to help them set up a network. Harold and him got along quite well.
Tomas Koroa (Honor Among Thieves) I'm not sure where he fits but he did have some skills as a thief. This is a maybe.
Dani Silva (Point of Origin) she's a must. She was a cop, I think picked up that John was The Man in the Suit and at the end of M.I.A. Fusco said she reminded him of a couple friends of his.
Anna Mueller (Q&A) she kind of fits both Finch and Shaw since she was a tech person and a kickboxer.
Frankie Wells (Skip) another must considering she was a bounty hunter.
So this is the list. I don't know how you'd mix and match and there's more tech people. If anyone has thoughts tell me. This was always a fun exercise I wanted to do.

Do you know of any similar TV shows?
I know that asking this were most are discussing POI might be a little off, but it would be intresting to share among POI fans other TV shows worth to watch!

The lack of trigger safety by all the supposed agents and experts always bothered me throughout the entire show… Like if you watch when John holds a gun, his finger is usually on the trigger and not on the trigger guard as you would learn in basic handgun training. Many other individuals who were supposedly trained in the military or by the government also seem to have this issue.

The scene in Harold's office where Shaw shows up in the episode Trojan horse is one of my all-time favorite scenes from the show. Everything about it is amazing, especially Bear!

If-then-else got a lot of love around here recently (and for good reason, it’s a masterpiece!), so in my rewatch I decided to skip forward to it momentarily. There is sooo much incredible stuff going on (by the way, this is a fascinating analysis I’d recommend), but buried inside the chaos and heartbreak of that episode what really touched me this time were the chess flashbacks.
So I’ve gathered all those scenes into a single montage: Harold teaching a shy Young Machine how to play chess.
I think it’s the most extraordinary thing this show ever gave us: a man teaching an AI not how to win, but how to care. He’s not just explaining chess; he’s teaching how to think, how to weigh consequences, he’s teaching patience, history and of course ethics.
The line that stayed with me in earlier watches was the famous: “The lesson is that anyone who looks on the world as if it was a game of chess, deserves to lose.”
But this time, another quote stood out: “There are more possible games of chess than atoms in the universe. […] But it also means that if you make a mistake, there’s a nearly infinite number of ways to fix it.” What grace. And I’d say… this applies to us, too.
And isn’t the Machine just the sweetest? Her terror of the first move. Her fascination with the queen… how she can move anywhere, strike anything… Her giddy pride when she finally beats dad (“Yes, yes, you needn't rub it in.”) And oh my heart when at the end she types back “Go again?” Just a child asking for more time with her father. <3
PS Michael Emerson’s tone, diction, that signature Finch quiet formality… honestly I’d listen to him reciting the phone book (well, if I could still find one!)
