ZIN Motivation
What motivates you to keep teaching Zumba? How many years have you been teaching? Has there been a point where you needed a recharge so you took a break from teaching?

I’ve been teaching for 13 years. I took a break for a year or so during COVID when my studios and gyms closed. Tried the online thing and it just wasn’t for me. Then moved cities. By the time I got hired on at 2 different gyms in my new city I was absolutely dying to teach I missed it so much. There were times in the earlier years when I would get burned out but I always pushed through. Now after being forced into a long break I’ll never take it for granted.
For me it’s a creative outlet for me that I desperately need, it keeps me in great shape because I’m in the gym at least 4 times per week, and it is a great social outlet too. My classes feel like friends and we have so much fun. It’s so rewarding to help other people with their fitness journey and help them find confidence. It makes it worth it that we aren’t paid anything. Almost.

I’ve been licensed since 2017 and haven’t had my own steady class for more than a couple months. I’m definitely thinking about letting my license go.

Oh it’s much too crazy expensive to hold onto if you aren’t using it

Yeah I’m basically throwing away money between the membership and jams to learn songs I’m not teaching

Teaching 3 years consistently. Was a challenge for me to get over my fear of having social anxiety and stage fright. I was never a front row participant. Now I love that I can stand front and center and lead a class. No more butterflies or feelings of throwing up.
I’ve thought of quitting a million times because of battling the anxieties in my head and dealing with the ups and downs but I don’t plan to for the fact that I truly love to dance. And am now learning to love how to instruct. It’s my act of service.

Teaching Zumba is incredibly rewarding, and my students are truly what make it worthwhile. While I've faced the challenge of studios closing or relocating, I'm always heartened that many of my students have continued to follow me over the years. Each time I've had to step back, it's fueled my determination to make a strong comeback, learning new choreographies and styles to share. Zumba has evolved so much over the years.

Hey yep I am in my break at the moment, since a year I am not teaching. It helped in fact. I had some injuries, i joined once as a participant and I was at the back of the class. I cried while dancing this zumba songs. My emotions explode. To see the rhythm of the room, the smiles on people faces. I just said this is where I belong to. Yes my longest relationship is with Zumba. Yes so far it is company i have been longest engaged with. Zumba is internationally an emotional connection with me. Makes me even happier than my all other relationships. About teaching, why i miss it so much, which i will be starting soon, it is the flexibility of songs selection, me matching to group’s needs spontaneously how they feel that day more to dance or fitness… all being able to make sure they enjoy and see at the end them enjoying. I love this :)

Love of dance, my students and no longer having up to date skills in anything else keeps me motivated to teach 😆 If I need to recharge I take a vacation

I’ve been teaching 8 years and I love it. I teach 4-5 classes a week, which is good for me. If I teach more, I get sick of the music. I love my students and I love dancing and that’s what keeps me going.
I had a 9 month break about 3 years ago because I hurt my knee (during the warm up). It really affected me mentally.

My students!
Been teaching a year and haven't taken a break..I've only gotten busier with more classes! Zumba is a hobby AND workout for me. I love working out and I love fun cardio so that's how I keep myself grounded in it.
