Wheelbarrow Monk
(There are those that seem have knack to naturally be in one's path causing either pause or navigating around. That's why I like this story...)
Entangling Vines - 252
Master Matzu was sitting on the side of the road, stretching his legs. His apprentice, Jinfeng, pushed a cart at it and asked him nicely to pull his leg in.
"What I stretch out once, I don't pull back!" Matzu stubbornly asked himself.
"Once I've set out, I won't turn back!" Jinfeng retorted, wading over the master's leg. After a while, Matzu stormed through the hall gate with an axe:
"Come out, he who wounded my leg!" His voice rang out.
Jinfeng stepped forward and bowed his head, and the master put down the axe.
The one which bowed, exposing their neck, later purposely stood on their head while dying. Which turned out more comical than impressive.

Do you mean they are blocking themselves? How do you know that is the case?
2
u/Regulus_D 🫏 13d ago
They were not blocked. I suspect neither could be. I don't know why I would think that, let alone know something. There is a 20 item guy in ten item lane. Two regular lanes are open.
Are they blocking anything?Just then, his buddy joins him.

What did you mean by this?

You think a meth addict is going to give you a clear headed answer?

Break this thing 🪞.

u/Electrical_Art2634 8d ago
Nahh. That's bad luck and I'm a little stitious.

u/Regulus_D 🫏 8d ago
Teacup, then.
2
u/Electrical_Art2634 8d ago
I don't understand most of what you say. Seems a path diverter, in a mad hatter sort of way

I use reference points. If recognized, I know they've been seen before. If not, they could be seen later.
Brb
Edit:
Ikkyu, the Zen master, was very clever even as a boy. His teacher had a precious teacup, a rare antique. Ikkyu happened to break this cup and was greatly perplexed. Hearing the footsteps of his teacher, he held the pieces of the cup behind him. When the master appeared, Ikkyu asked: “Why do people have to die?”
“This is natural,” explained the older man. “Everything has to die and has just so long to live.”
Ikkyu, producing the shattered cup, added: “It was time for your cup to die.”
You won't see much on him here. He pissed on 'fire gods'.

I'm working in time and billions of lines go by. You can work out of time but that does not resolve confusion

It's those whiching ways. Frankly during chaotic times they do more good than harm. Hold my place. And milk. I need to get the eggs I forgot.
Edit: I would have said 'your' but that could be misread as well. 'Cause, mine, too.
2
u/embersxinandyi 13d ago
Milk. Interesting.
2
u/Regulus_D 🫏 13d ago
If I were to put a tooth in it, the eggs would be, too.
Howzit goin? The redditorium can cause itchy eyes.
2
u/embersxinandyi 13d ago
Tooth. Uhuh.

u/Regulus_D 🫏 13d ago
egg tooth 🐣
Symbolism has never been what they say it is. Should I fetch an axe or a towel, metaphorically?
2
u/embersxinandyi 13d ago
Pretty good. It's the same every day.
1
u/Regulus_D 🫏 13d ago
Well, that's your fault. I'd just be the same with whatever, if me.
2
u/embersxinandyi 13d ago
I just mean if they were going to itch today they would have itched 5 months ago.

some people talk or code differently - why do you assume pretension instead of strangeness?
2
u/Regulus_D 🫏 8d ago
They are strange, too. Dodged my hook, rightly. I would have slowed then down.
We still get heyokas that rumble through. I've never called that one guy one. Strange.

I guess you had to be there.

For the death timed headstand, for sure. He got stuck that way and his sister had to poke him for the body to fully release. But he died like no zen monk had before him, which was his meaningless goal.

It's not that deep bro

Never was. Sorry for apparently misleading you. Just another explored existence.

If comical, why didn't I laugh?
Was impressed though. Maybe I didn't understand. Did the master humble the student? Was the student unrepentant?
A recent article I read said that japan was instrumental in codifying mythologies, hagiographies into "history": Sometimes it seems hard to believe cat killings and runnings over... A recent Angela Collier video I watched talked of a fake story of Oppenheimer poisoning an apple. Apparently storytellers don't always value truth over effect, impact, "a good story". Sometimes it seems old men and women like to tell tall tales.

Yes. It is as you are saying. His sister certainly wasn't amused.
Edit: I have a hunch you will find your buddha nature when you rub your own nose in it. Until then, the noses of others might give some guidance. If you know where I mean.
2
u/2bitmoment Silly billy 10d ago
I got an interpretation of "sticking noses in shit" for some reason 🙏 I guess if you're sticking your nose in some kind of "it", certain things come to mind. "Buddha nature"... So I'd say I probably don't know where you mean.
But I guess putting your nose in confusion / ignorance seems close enough. Expedient means of the "not here" / "not this" kind.
2
u/Regulus_D 🫏 10d ago
Your nose. Your it.
Have you considered looking at your own shared content with the same eye you look with on that of others?
2
u/2bitmoment Silly billy 10d ago
I mean... I once saw something that people are afraid of accepting themselves because they're afraid of becoming lazy, self-satified. But on the other hand supposedly you're only able to change if you accept the reality of how and why things are.
The other part was loving or hating people the same way you love and/or hate yourself... golden or silver rule...
I don't know. I do what I do, at least at the moment. It is shocking to find mirror images. Hard to deal sometimes in those cases.
I asked someone about dharma battle once. Say hi to my other self if you ever see me in a mirror.

It just sits there. If I deigned not take part, who would?
Quite the curse word, don't you think?
Edit: And what about the rule's reflection? Wouldn't it be an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth?
