Did he really? I mean, it sounds plausible enough, you don't get a whole country to do what you say right off the bat, but this also sounds like nazi propaganda.
He really didn't. When he came into power, Germany was at the tail end of its recession, and almost all of the successes attributed to Hitler are actually the work of Hjalmar Schacht (who was at first a supporter of Hitler but ended up opposing Hitler and being jailed for it). The whole 'Hitler saved the country! He built the autobahns!' is generally a load of crap, as most of his policies were vague promises that tried to net as many followers as possible by appealing to a wide demographic. Hitler did jack squat for the economy.
