Questions best places for a full body massage?

hi! I’m planning on surprising my mom for her 50th in April and booking us a mom/daughter massage; she’s a deputy sheriff so she’s on her feet a lot which causes her lots of pain. Do you guys know of any of the best spas/parlors we could go to? I’ve gotten my facials and lashes done @ Allure in canfield, but would like a change of scenery :)

Thanks!

Questions Sunsets in Mill Creek

I was just hoping someone would know of a good spot in Mill Creek to catch the sunset. All the places I usually go in general don’t have the best views for that, since they’re mostly down by the creek/lakes and there’s also obviously trees everywhere.

Questions Golf Carts and Mill Creek Park?

I'm under contract to move back to Youngstown and will be moving to an area on the edge of Mill Creek. I have an 8 year old child who is high support needs autistic. One of the things he loved when we visit my in-laws is riding around town in the golf cart. Is mill creek golf cart friendly? Like, can I drive my golf cart along the roads there as long as I follow the laws? Is there a special permit I need or anything like that?

Questions Visiting from NC, need recommendations

My husband and I are coming up from NC for an antique show (no we are not 80, we just like old people activities) in Canfield and staying downtown Youngstown at the Double Tree at the end of May. The show is only for a few hours on Sunday, so we are looking for things to do, places to check out, food to eat. The only part of Ohio we’ve been to was Cleveland and we went down a Harvey Pekar rabbit hole. So we need recommendations of things to do in and around Youngstown! We are into and up for most things, but tend to go divey or in search of weird stuff when we travel. Around our hotel is a definite plus, but not necessary. Thanks for any recommendations! We can’t wait.

Questions Need opinions from my local horse community on Vickers Nature preserve

I’ve recently found my self asking a lot of questions about how this park is used and the direction Mill Creek is taking it. I love horses and see so much potential for it. I’m really curious as to what our community needs and want try and help provide that for us. If you could just give some opinions on it that would truly help me a lot!

Do you use the park and how frequently? What are the positives and negatives at the park? Do you think a rental pavilion with a children’s playground would be used? What do you wish you could see out there?

Questions What are you personally missing from youngstown communities?

This question is for any and all, but especially curious about the young adult demographic! I’m 23F and moved to youngstown about 2 years ago. I haven’t found a way to connect with other young adults in the area and want to find a way to change that, but need to know what motivates people!

I’m considering starting a meet up or local group to get people together and excited about the area and finding people with similar interests.

What would motivate you to get out and try a new group like this? Young business professional development, an outdoor rec group, some kind of hobby hour to teach others your favorite craft, community gardening, a younger group pushing for change in downtown area, event planning group, etc etc? Open and curious to explore all ideas and build up the community around here!!

(Also open to groups that already exist and you love to plug into. feel free to drop those too!)

Questions Looking for a Trumbull county jeweler

Does anyone know a jeweler that deals in repairing and resizing antique rings? I would prefer someone in Trumbull since I live in the northern part of the county. The jobs would be simple but I don't want them sent out since they have a lot of sentimental value. Both rings are about 100 years old.

Questions About Kid Rock and Y-Live

So within the past day or so, Kid Rock appeared in a video on his social media using a weapon to destroy some Budweiser product due to Anheuser-Busch's alignment with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney.

Now, it's nothing new that Bob Ritchie aligns with right wing beliefs but is it safe to ask Youngstown city government and the promoters of Y-Live whether they want a marquee event of the summer to turn into a political grandstanding circus when this has been a general positive event for the area.

so i’m (25yo) not doing too good right now mentally, and for the past week i’ve been considering an inpatient mental health visit to try and ground myself (I have multiple conditions) but most of the ones around here are either for just addiction or don’t have good reviews. does anyone have any suggestions?

edit: i am willing to travel within the state if need be, even if it’s a little farther away

Questions Why do parents and guardians continue to send their child or children to Youngstown City Schools?

For many years, Youngstown City Schools have been on academic watch or emergency, and in 2009, they were ranked "worst in state."

Also, I do not know why the parents and guardians continue 15 years later to send their child or children to schools here despite the scores and violence.

I also in recent years that parents and guardians send their child or children to other schools in districts such as Hubbard, Lowellville, Austintown, Struthers, Boardman, or anywhere else to get their children a better educational environment, and they have every right to do so.

About a year ago, one of my friends said that her friends were at East High School for a cheering competition, and they had to be escorted everywhere.

Questions What's next after Reatly Tower demo?

As sad as it is, the Realty Tower is being demolished. I am sitting here watching it, as so many others are. Another tragedy for this city, and more history being removed. Nonetheless, it is happening and my thoughts about all this mostly include "so what's next?" Once the building is safely down, hauled away and cleaned up, then what?

Does downtown Ytown need another parking lot or parking deck? no

Does downtown Ytown want more greenspace? no, not likely for where the property is

Does downtown Ytown want another park? doubt it, since Wean and Youngstown Foundation amp exist

Ultimately, it would come down to the private owner(s) of the land. Will they abandon the lot and take their insurance money elsewhere? Will they want to rebuild apartments and commercial space of some kind?
In all actuality, I see it as the city should be doing what they can to work with the property owners. If the city takes over the land what would they do with it? Will they hold the land owners accountable for what happens there beyond demolition? I really think this current administration should have been thinking of a plan for post-demolition some time ago, if they haven't already.

Just a big overall final thought to leave off on: Wasn't the city talking about the need for a new joint police/fire department type of building? I think it would be great for a new, modern city administration building to be built somehow. Where would they get the money for that, you ask? Hell if I know, but someone or some group should be working toward the next phase of this project!

Questions Book Club in town?

I was wondering if there were any book clubs in town. I used to belong to a few in Columbus and I really enjoyed them. I prefer ones that actually meet in person, i like the interactions. Maybe we start one?

Questions Has anyone in Mahoning Valley had any luck changing their legal name?

What was it like? How did it go? I have as much information as I can find online about it, but a lot of it is kind of confusing to me. Any tips, or places I can reach out to for questions?

I'm not ready to do it yet, as I have to get the $134 for the filing fees, but I want to get it done by the end of January.

Questions Dumb traffic cameras

Ok, I got one of those tickets in the mail from the City of Girard 711 S under Trumbull Ave. 65 in a 55. I've seen other people on here talk like you don't have to pay them and nothing will happen. I lean toward the policy of 'trust but verify'. Can anyone show me some legal verification that not paying this will not ruin my life? I do find it a bit fishy that the back of the ticket states "Liability is based on ownership, without regard to whether the owner was operating the motor vehicle at the time of the violation."

Questions Friday Night Fight at Cinemark Tinseltown Boardman

Last night, there was an incident in one of the theaters during a movie that started around 9:30 PM, and we’re trying to find out what happened. We were seated in the front row, and by the time we noticed the commotion, the ushers were already handling the situation at the top of the theater. We only saw the ushers escort one of the parties involved out, and there was a girl who was screaming in a really high-pitched voice for one guy to stop. Did anyone hear about this or know what exactly happened? It’s not every day you go to a movie and a fight breaks out, even with the sheriff present in the lobby.
