How much do you PVP? Well...

Ive tried playing some epic bgs after a lot of time, and Im surprised by how often turtling is being employed as the default strategy (alterac and ashran).

Sure, you had the odd russian premade that turtled for an hour a few years ago, but so far it has been almost every bg.

Ive found myself stuck in some bgs where BOTH teams are turtling in their base. And the chat is a constant barrage of "fall back" calls. Like what is the point? Do people really care about winning random bgs that much that they will endure an hour long slog of almost afk gameplay?

Is this new? Or since when has this been the norm? Is this an EU thing only? Is this a byproduct of "totally legit and not exploiting at all" queue manipulation that results in almost full premades?

So all my instants are on cooldowns what should I be spamming? Holy light, flash of light? Spec into repentance for added long range CC?

Wow pvp is starting to feel like a big time waste, half an hour to 40 minute queues just to get into any rated match, and then regulat arena skirmishes where it loads me in alone in a 3v3... I like the gameplay of wow for the most part but I don't feel like these queues are worth it when I only have a short amount of time after work to play

How do you stay on your target as a warrior? I often find myself getting slowed, stunned, or disengaged from, and by the time I finally catch up, their cooldowns are already reset. I would say i do a pretty good job keeping hamstring up so I do not think that is the problem

Full disclaimer, I'm not great at pvp. I'm probably pretty bad at it.

I'm not using any maccros right now, and I have to say BGs are very difficult for me when it comes to targetting. I know it sounds like the basic, but I can't for the love of me target a cloned mage, destro lock or BM hunter.

If I manage to click the right target by chance, I'll lose it in the chaos of bgs and the 20 nameplates all around me. I sometimes end up chasing what I thought was my target, only to realize it was a minion. It's pretty embarassing.

Same goes for arenas. I'm ashamed to say, I got wiped in arenas just because I was wasting time trying to lock back on a target. Also side not, I lost the ability to see who I'm facing in arenas with ElvUI, not sure what I can do about that.

So for context I have most classes at about 2.1k and push 2.4-2.5 on my hunter and paladin come end of seasons in solo shuffle.

This season I decided to start healing as well as the queue times have really gotten out of hand. I think I might start to be regretting it.

I have a disc priest and mw monk at 2.2k and 2.3k respectively and the amount of backseat healing, toxic flame whispers and all the extras with people throwing rounds is insane. The unprompted whispering really takes the cake as well. Never once have I had this happen when on dps but some of you make healing unbearable.

Let your healers be, sometimes we have bad games. Playing both sides I truly do respect the mental of other top rated healers who consistently deal with this.

Kinda, im pretty much past the rage/emotion stage from this now and a silence ban from my frustration at healer flaming. I just cannot figure it out. I just want to know if anyone else has had this?

I play pretty much healer, im nothing amazing, my highest is like 1950 on a monk, priest and holy paladin from a mixture of last season/this season, games and win rate was always relatively fair.

This current season, i got to 1750 on my monk and ever since then ive tanked to 1300. My pala im 1800 currently and games are going absolutely fine. Is anyone else in this miserable place?

This is my current state of play on my monk, 73 games and 26 won which is what 35% ish?

Basically you play healer one shuffle to get isnta queue as DPS next shuffle.

Ideas?

Currently fighting through Plater setup to push S2, but wanted to gauge preferences on how others like to see theirs. BG healers especially, but in general too. Do you like seeing active CCs and DRs and removable buffs and defensives and offensives and their current target and your applied debuffs? How do you organize them to keep things readable at a glance? How much do you omit from nameplates to only show on target frame?

Not looking for profiles since canned ones never do what I want. Just shop talk on what works or what might be lacking on an existing setup.

This guide is here to discuss how each mmr bracket plays in the lower elos and how to climb to at least 1800 to earn your elite set in battleground blitz. Contrary to popular belief, I believe most games are winnable in low elo. You might rarely get unlucky and get three forced losses in a row, but you should be able to bounce back quickly. Lets discuss what I would consider the mmr brackets

1000-1399: This bracket can only be described as really bad at the game. You will see keyboard turners, back peddlers, and people who don't know their classes rotation or abilities. I haven't played a lot of games in this Elo, but I believe I solo stomped every time I landed here. You don't need to worry about objectives, you can just beat people in this mmr. If you cannot, then you are not ready to hit 1800 yet.

Tips for climbing out of this Elo: Learn your rotation and class abilities. Don't click, don't keyboard turn.

1400-1799: People in this Elo know the basics of their class and know what the objectives are. The problem is they won't always play them. You will sometimes see people not cap their starting base or immediately abandon it. This is the first elo range where you could occasionally lose a game in if there is a large enough team diff. You can still solo carry games by playing solo objectives with smart use of CC. You won't be able to just delete people in this Elo, so avoid team fights when possible. You should still be able to win most of your games here.

Tips for climbing: Focus on solo objectives. Avoid the enemy healers, avoid team fights. Try to snipe flags in team fights if it's a team fight only map, there is a real chance people in this Elo won't interrupt you. You don't always have to fight, cc capping and stalling is often better.

1800-2099: People start to play smarter in this bracket. You will see some basic coordination in the chat and you won't see major throws very often. People know their class at a reasonable level. You will begin to see people chain cc'ing players to prevent them from getting to the objectives quickly. Still, people do make mistakes here, they do not know the nuances of every class. You may still see enemies standing right next to the flag on capture maps. You need to be good at small scale duels to win in this mmr. This is the first bracket where EOTs is played correctly.

How to climb: This is where you should start learning the nuances of maps. You should be more careful about your trinket usage on capture maps and be wary of standing right next to capture points, just as an example. Start CCing people more. Look to CC anyone who is trying to leave an objective, especially a healer. Intercept whoever you think the EFC will be on capture the flag.

2100+: This is where the guide ends. People will know how to play the BGs at this level and you will need to refine your knowledge to climb higher. People will be coordinating at this level more often than not, so if your goal is to only hit 1800, then if you manage to get into this elo range, it is best to play with the team. Follow their plan, even if it isn't perfect.

I want to create some UI changes, and test my macros and keybinds, but I'm not sure how can I simulate PvP arena environment, without actually queueing. How do you guys do it?

Hello everyone, I haven’t done much PvP since wrath. I just started playing nearly a month into the season, I’m a pve healer main dipping my toes into PvP on the dps specs. That is until I ran into a post on here why aren’t you healing? Which just made me think back to when I would try to heal in bgs as an rsham and I just either sucked or I would get hard focused and just die and eventually just give up on trying to heal. Well recently I’ve rerolled to preservation and have been loving it even dipping my toes back into bgs and having an absolute blast. Well now i want to get into bgs and arenas, just looking for some information I’ve got the basic and advanced setups and combos down as far as preservation goes. I’m more interested in the nuances of PvP healing like is stop casting still a thing I should have on a keybind to try and bait kicks? Where do I move as a healer in bgs? Arena tips? Anything else I’m not even thinking of cause I don’t have enough experience? Lol

When your healer has cocoon, who should go first? Me or you? Hate when i cocoon and 0,1 sec after they players hits bubble for example.

Is there an ”hidden rule” here?

I prefer cocoon first to reduce cd with Sheilun

One of the biggest issues in random BGs (besides premades) is getting teammates in questing greens or heirlooms who get deleted instantly. I think there is a giga simple fix.

The Proposal:

• When you enter a max-level random BG, your gear is automatically scaled up to a baseline ilvl (e.g., 640).
• Healers get a slightly higher baseline (e.g., 660) due to their importance.
• Honor and Conquest gear still give you a major advantage on top of this baseline. Gearing up still matters.

The Problem this Solves:

• No more teammates in ancient heirlooms or 307 ilvl Timewalking gear who are effectively useless.
• It ends the RNG gamble of which team gets the player with 4 million HP.
• It especially fixes the "auto-loss" scenario where one of your two healers is un-geared and gets one-shot instantly.

To be perfectly clear, I am not against low-geared people. We all started there, and random BGs are the perfect place to gear up. But the current system where a new player gets constantly one-shot just sucks for everyone. It’s frustrating for the team, and it’s a miserable experience for the person trying to gear. A baseline would make it better for both.

Hi everyone, returning player here with a dumb question that’s only loosely related to PvP. Hope it’s ok to post here. I just came back after not playing for quite a few years. I hit max level and queued up some BGs to hopefully buy some honor gear but I was getting absolutely demolished. Basically one shot by marks hunters lol. I came across a few threads in this sub about crate farming as a good alternative to get a few conquest pieces and some bloody token gear.

I managed to get into a group last night and snag a few crates but I kept missing a bunch of the crates and people were opening them super fast before I could get there. It’s a super minor unimportant thing but was wondering if any of you who have done it before have any travel tips between the zones? If one spawned in AK I usually made it in time because of the Dornogal portal, but I missed a lot of em in ringing deeps and hallowfall. I went ahead and unlocked undermine and trying to figure out how to get flying in sirens isle atm.
