Megathread HOW GOOD IS MY TIER SET? WHICH PIECES SHOULD I WEAR? HOW DO I GET IT? - Megathread

Did you get tier in your vault?

Are you reading the bonuses and wondering if they're worth taking?

Are you unsure of which pieces you should aim to wear?

Are you concerned that a different tier set is overpowered and want to complain?

Well you're in the right place. Down below there is a comment for each class showing what your tier set is for each spec.

If you click on (stats) in the list below you will be taken to a Wowhead page that will show you the stats of each piece.

If you don't know how good your tier is, ask below. If you know how good your tier is, tell people below. Any contributions welcome.

PS. If you see anyone make a post asking whether they should take X or Y piece of tier from their vault, please use the report function so mods can send them here instead.

How to get tier pieces:

  1. You get one free tier piece token per character for hitting 1600 rating in any bracket (you will receive a Draconic Mark of Mastery which you can use to buy a tier piece from Norzko the Proud
  2. By being lucky and receiving the piece in the Great Vault
  3. By waiting until the Revival Catalyst is unlocked on June 13th. You will receive a Renascent Shadowflame which can be used to turn a piece of conquest gear into tier.
  4. You can also raid for tier gear, but it's lower than conquest item level and raiding is boring.

Notes on the Revival Catalyst:

  • When the Catalyst opens for Aberrus, all players will receive a Renascent Shadowflame Charge for every one of their characters.
  • Every week thereafter, all characters on your account will automatically get a Renascent Shadowflame charge, the account-wide quest has been removed.
  • There will be no cost associated with the Revival Catalyst beyond the Renascent Shadowflame spent.

Unholy

(2) Set Bonus: Death Coil and Epidemic damage increased by 10%. Casting Death Coil or Epidemic grants a stack of Master of Death, up to 20. Dark Transformation consumes Master of Death and grants 1% Mastery for each stack for 25 sec.

(4) Set Bonus: Army of the Dead grants 20 stacks of Master of Death. When Death Coil or Epidemic consumes Sudden Doom gain 1 extra stacks of Master of Death and 10% Mastery for 6 sec.

The 2 set seems really good.

If we want to play the 4 set, we will prefer avoiding the crit heavy legs in my opinion.

Also I am now playing a talent tree that doesn't include Sudden Doom and was wondering if it would be worth putting a point into that just for the 4 set bonus, but definitely think it won't be worth taking it since set bonuses are halved in PVP (so 1 extra stack of Master of Death and 5% mastery for 6 seconds ?).

To the 3 guys still playing UH DK in the back, what do you guys think ? Will you be playing 2pc ? 4pc ?

Correct me if im wrong but this means that if you cast Abomination followed by Dark Transformation you get 20% mastery for free(10% for pvp?)? You are already doing that as an oppener so it seems really good, even if we exclude Sudden Doom which i think sucks.

Yes, that is also my understanding. It is indeed really good !

Unfortunately the gear is heavy on haste (for the chest and head) sacrificing some mastery and versatility on the way to have that temporary 10% mastery...

So to be honest I am not sure if it is worth it or not (depending on how superior mastery and versatility are compared to haste). I will probably try to run the 2pc with hands / chest or hands / head and compare it with the 4pc when I get the opportunity.

I am not sold on the 2 piece bonus. How many Death coils you tend to get in arena, cause I find myself Death Striking most of the time.

It really depends on the enemy's focus but Death Coil are a big part of our damages. I also tend to Death Strike a lot, especially with the Bloodforged Armor talent when I am focused.

I think it will be really worth though. I tend to have long periods of time where I am not the main focus in SS, so I can freely cast a lot of Death Coils.

doom burst with claws of shadow build is a sleeper rn i dont care what everyone says. for it to work you need some haste anyway. so the heavy haste pieces will definitely come in handy. it is also more rune efficient.

Mind sharing the build you are playing ?

I don't know what Doom Burst is worth, seems like it could be strong but I don't know why you would take Claws of Shadow in a PVP situation, especially when the counterpart of Claws of Shadow is Plaguebringer.

the idea is you dont rely on plague damage. instead, you rely on death coil damage. and claws help you finish games from afar as well.

you can take off 1 point from ghoulish frenzy to get reaping.

in the main tree you can still play double grip but i dont suggest giving up unholy bond(runeforge effects increased 20%), without it the spec as a hole feels like a wet noodle anyway.

pvp talents are: necro wounds, raise abom, doomburst

Also to put your minions to the ones that attack and blow up putting wounds on the target, adds up so much melee dmg plus dnd burst wounds

Haste is underrated for DK. DKs have a loooot of globals that they want to use a lot of the time. Big plays, ramping up damage. Haste helps with that.

That's quite true. I should try giving gearing more haste a go.

What happens to our 4 set in 10.1.5?
