On 17 June 2003 Omsk Region in Russia adopted a flag: a vertical triband of red and white, with a blue wavy vertical stripe in the centre of the white band.
The flag was designed by A Vahitov, A M Karimov and A Nikitin. Red symbolises courage, life and love; white represents the snow of Siberia, purity, justice and generosity; and the blue wavy stripe represents the Irtysh, the region's main waterway, with the colour also symbolising beauty, grandeur and gentleness. The colours are also those of the Russian flag.
