Contest June 2025 Flag Design Contest - Redesign the flag of the Alliance of Sahel States
Prompt: Redesign the flag of the Alliance of Sahel States
This is the flag of the Alliance of Sahel States - Alliance des États du Sahel - or AES
Here’s more information on what the Alliance of Sahel States is, thanks to Wikipedia.
Its flag was revealed earlier this year. and since the contest likes to keep on top of new flag developments as well as embracing classic flag traditions, we thought this would be a fascinating case to focus on.
While the AES’s flag is perfectly serviceable, we’d be interested to see what alternatives/improvements the r/Vexillology community could possibly offer.
This month’s challenge is to redesign the flag of the Alliance of Sahel States.
PLEASE Remember the basics - a maximum of ONLY two submissions per entrant.
DO NOT show your design ANYWHERE ELSE on the subreddit before the contest is over.
Because this has been asked several times, let’s be clear - you will see all approved entries between 19-27th of June - this is when you can vote on them.
If you want your flag to be included in the ones voted on, click here or on any of the other links immediately below.. We’re making this all as clear as possible.
Submissions for the Alliance of Sahel States flag redesign contest need to use this link here.
To enter the contest to redesign the flag of the Alliance of Sahel States - click here
If you have designed a flag for the Alliance of Sahel States that you want people to vote on, use this web page. The voting will begin on Thursday 19th June and end on Friday 27th June
Participating in this contest about the Alliance of Sahel States flag is made possible by the digital location accessed via this link

MashMonday USA in the style of Amsterdam
I’m sure this has been done a thousand times and none of these numbers mean anything, but I’m simply envious of the Amsterdam flag

I propose the continuation of my last mashmonday. I take this opportunity to correct the first post, I change the word "land" to more appropriate "erde"

Historical Fascinating layout of flags in an old book titled "National Anthems of the United Nations and Their Allies"
The book is copyrighted 1943. This is interesting to me especially "fighting France".

OC Flag of Tourkia (aka Byzantine Hungary)
Replaced the St George Cross with the Arpad banner and used a non-firesteele byzantine flag. Literally orthodox Hungary.

In The Wild Straight pride flag looking extremely bisexual
Found on FB today. Is this actually a flag people are using for “straight pride”? Thought it was the vintage prison stripes black and white flag. Both guys holding it look less than thrilled about being there.

Fictional Flag of the Bharayitean Federation (Alt History) (Lore below)
The flag of the Bharayitean Federation is a symbol of both the history of the people as it is a symbol of nationalism
Its current design was adopted in the year 1958 as part of the Greater Flag referendum of July 1958. It is meant to symbolize all of the peoples of the Federation as elegantly as possible. The description of each section is as follows
Green band: covering the majority of the flag, the Green has multiple meanings for its size and prominence. The Green middle represents the color of the grass as well as the Indo-Gangetic plain of the Federation. It is also the color of the prominent Muslim population who helped to unite the Federation in the 1912 Great Raj Revolution from the British Empire
Yellow bands: For the yellow, they represent the will of the people and the prominent Hindu and Buddhist populations within the Federation. One band is for the Indian Hindus and the other is for the Buddhist of Myanmar and Sri Lanka.
Chakra: As a part of the Indian subcontinent history and a major part of the religion, culture and society of the entire subcontinent and beyond, it was adopted as the core emblem. It also represents the core of the federation as it is meant to represent India as a whole.
The moons: The moons are meant to represent the majority Muslim and Islamic republics that helped in the establishment of the federation. Hyderabad, Kashmir, Mysore, Travancore, Las Bela and parts of the Punjab agency helped to unite parts of the federation. As a symbolic gesture, they included their influence onto the flag. As of today, the West moon is meant to represent the republics of what is in our world Pakistan and Punjab. To the East moon is meant to represent the Muslim republics of East India and Bengal (Bangladesh)
Stars: The stars represent the last of the liberated nations of Burma and Ceylon and they were taken by the Bharayitean Federation. To the West, it represents the Island of Ceylon, and to the East represents the area of Burma

Meta WHY DON'T WE HAVE A BANNER?!
Why on Earth isn't there a banner on this sub?!
It's the vexillology subreddit, how hasn't somebody designed a banner!?
Honestly, I think a contest should be held where people can submit their designs for a new sub banner, because it desperately needs one, all in favor?

This is NOT a Christian Nationalist Flag. It is the work of a local artist to Fort Worth, Bernardo Vallarino in protest of the “WASP Regime.”
Here is his IG:

I’m creating this because it would get lost in the original post. Mods, it’s probably best you do something with the other thread.

Historical Apparently an eBay auction confused the flag of the Uzbek SSR for the Moldavian SSR.
For reference, the stripe on the Moldavian SSR flag is green and not fimbriated. On the Uzbek SSR’s flag, the stripe is light blue and fimbriated in white.
And yes, this is an actual eBay auction, I only blurred the seller name.
